Cape Karoo Guest House offers affordable overnight accommodation in Beaufort West, Western Cape. We invite you to come and experience the peace and tranquility of this luxurious bed and breakfast, posed against a backdrop of the Nieuweveld Mountains on-route the N1 to Cape Town/Johannesburg. Cape Karoo Guest house is located in a quiet suburb just outside Beaufort West and we offer secure off-street parking behind locked gates, ensuring a peaceful night rest. Cape Karoo caters for families, business travellers as well as honeymooners searching for accommodation in the heart of the Central-Karoo: Beaufort West. This elegant oasis has five en-suite rooms, each with its own entrance. Rooms lead to a refreshing country atmosphere in the enchanted garden. Our guest house is pet and child friendly. The main house is an original Sir Herbert Baker, built in 1902 and each garden room has a rich history. We are a small guest house which is owner-operated; therefore we offer individual attention to all of our guests. Traditionally Cape Karoo offers bed and breakfast, but self-catering units are also available. We serve a full English breakfast and dinner (on request) in the communal dining area during winter or in the garden during summer. We also have braai-facilities and “braai”-packs are available for those who want to enjoy the famous organic A-grade Karoo lamb chops..

Ewaldia was a friendly and most accommodating hostesses. The Guest House is well located situated on the outskirts of town, the Sir Herbert Baker bedroom was tastefully decorated with quality bedding and towels, it was spacious and the block out blinds for the early morning sun was most welcome. Appreciated the off street parking, lovely “look out deck” to enjoy a braai and drinks (ask for braai grid etc. limited drinks are available on request) while enjoying the sunset. The property is Pet Friendly (on request) and they now have a 2nd house with more guest rooms across the road where there is a pool for all guests to enjoy. The optional extra charged breakfast was generous served with fresh percolated coffee. All and all a very pleasant experience.

We were pleasantly surprised at the outstanding quality of the Cape Karoo guesthouse. Despite arriving late at night everything was like the host said it should be and the room was spotless. It was really a lovely place to stay over at.

We were pleasantly surprised by the effort that the owners had made to ensure a pleasant stay. Due to our commitments we couldn't stay for breakfast, which I am certain would be great too.
The rooms are spacious - perhaps a larger towel that is currently available for drying after a shower.
One thing we have picked up is that you can here the guests next door quite clearly - which is a slight concern.
We will definitely make use of CKG again in the near future. I would love to use the pool as well!
Thank you for making our overnight staty a pleasant one.

We have stayed there once before with a previous owner and this stay was every bit as good as our first stay. The manager was very friendly and helpful as were the staff the next morning for breakfast. We slept extremely well for the night.
The location is just off the N1 and about 1.5km from town which makes it convenient and pleasantly quiet given the amount of traffic passing through the town.
I would not hesitate recommending this guesthouse to anyone.

It was a very comfortable stay. Away from the highway and its trucks, so it was nice and quiet which helped with a peaceful sleep.

Daisy the pug is a darling who welcomed us very enthusiastically. (she was let out to meet us after we said we were happy with dogs)

Cape Karoo Guesthouse had a lot of additional features like add on breakfast, a pool etc. However, we only stayed here for one night, reached late in the evening and left early morning to enter the National Park as soon as the gates opened. So we didn't have the opportunity to explore these options.

We were given a discount voucher for the place that we had planned to have dinner at, so that was a lovely bonus.

Each room is decorated very differently. The Afri-Karoo room was quirky and adorable. The Dei Gratia room was much more standard, but had a lot more space.

Each room had a microwave, tea station and a fridge in case you need to stay longer and want to warm up meals in your room.

The Karoo is the driest part of the country, so they obviously have water issues and its hotter than other towns. This is obviously not in the guest house control, but something to be aware of.

We were coming in from Cape Town, which was about 10 degrees cooler and arrived late evening, so I'm not sure if the air conditioning wasn't powerful enough or just that the day's heat had permeated into the walls and it took much longer to cool down.

Our room had a couple of large mosquitoes. They did provide insect repellent, which we sprayed around the room - but then the room smelled of repellent instead of the lovely fresh smell that it had when we entered.

We spent 2 nights here , 17-19 Feb & really enjoyed our 1st stay in Beaufort West. The venue is on the outskirts of town so its very quiet and close enough to town , literally 2 minutes and 10 mins from the Karoo National Park that we visited a few times during our 2 days .

The room was clean & quite spacious with a coffee making station . We stayed in Dei Gratia room . A nice big shower & a TV .

There is enough secure parking with a remote gate for easy access. The Guesthouse has a lovely garden & the 4Sheep Restaurant are owned by the same family. We had dinner at 4Sheep on our 1st evening & it was most enjoyable .

The communication when making our booking & during our stay was excellent & seamless. One can arrange breakfast & dinner at the Guesthouse at an additional cost.

They have an inverter so we were not impacted by loadshedding at all , which was great , especially for wi fi & downloading pics

It's definately a place we recommend & would gp back to

I am aware that the main Johannesburg to Cape Town traffic route is through the center of town so I did a search and looked for the establishment furthest from the road with the most stars and identified Cape Karoo Guesthouse. A quick telephone call confirmed that the room had a King Sized bed and the Full DSTV Bundle, together those made the first prize. The bargain was the breakfast for R100 each. The only negative, was the distant exhaust brakes of the trucks. I'll be back again.

we stayed here one night when we were travelled along the N1, driving from Cape Town to Joburg.
We loved so much this piece of heaven in the middle of Karoo.
The room are all different and you could choose what you prefer, we choose the Wind Pump at it was simply fantastic: so comfortable and so beautiful in every details
all the guesthouse is very amazing and all the areas are so lovely: the garden is a really green heaven and the breakfast and restaurant area are so lovely
When we booked here we were just looking for a place to stay along our trip, but we found a so beautiful place where we loved to stay and where we'll surely come back

I wanted to break our trip from Cape Town to Blanco and Beaufort West was the perfect half way stop. I searched for accommodation, looking at many options, and I am so glad we found this one.
It is out of town - you go through the town - so no noise and very peaceful, a secure place to park our car with bikes, a very friendly welcome and the most beautiful of rooms - big, clean, quality linen etc. All the little touches were there and it was such a lovely stay. We had delicious Karoo lamb chops for dinner and slept so well. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend this as a great stopover!
