This is the second time I stayed here and I was very happy with my decision on both occasions. These must be some of the best dorm beds I've slept on in South Africa: They are absolutely massive, really comfortable, with plugs and reading lamps... you really can't ask for anything more than that. The staff were also very friendly and there were some comfortable common areas. They seemed to have a few good excursions on offer although I didn't go on any. Free coffee/tea, plus a free 100MB on the wifi was a nice gesture. No credit card facilities, but ATMs are walking distance. Do be aware that the trucks on the N1 can be noisy at night, but this is Beaufort west and you will get the noise at most places..... you won't get a better deal than this backpackers though! I'll stay here again if I need a stop over in the area.

The staff was very lovely and welcoming. Unfortunately the rooms are right next to a major trucking highway. Traffic noise makes it almost impossible to sleep with trucks passing 10m in front of the house. Do not stay here, if you are used to sleeping in very noisy surroundings. Rooms are simple and acceptably clean. Payment had to be made up front. Although the lovely host reimbursed half of the price when we moved out after a mostly sleepless first night.

Great Great people, such a warm feeling and awesome backpackers with people coming from all over the world. Something special about this place. Upstairs room with 6 beds with lots of room. there is lots of information available about the town and open space downstairs with a common room, kitchen and outdoor space.

Me and my boyfriend had a short stop over at Karoo Backpackers on our way to Cape Town. The town is quiet and doesn't have much going for it, however the backpackers we stayed in was very comfortable and we felt so welcome by both of the lovely receptionists. They were very helpful when it came to deciding where to eat that night. The room was clean and very comfortable, with a tv, and mini fridge and complimentary tea and coffee! If we come to the Karoo again, we will definitely consider the Karoo Backpackers again! Thank you

Although the trucks roaring through the town are a bit disturbing at night, this is one of the better backpackers around. The rooms are clean and efficient and the kitchen works well. We return here every year and the standard remains very good
