This bush camp is fantastic; it's not 5 star luxury as it's a rustic bush camp but it is pristine in it's cleanliness, it's gardens and facilities. The rooms are well appointed with 2 single beds upstairs (up a ladder) and a double bed downstairs, fluffy white towels, aircon, wifi... It has been well thought out with anything you need from a light over the braai area, fold out chairs for the braai area, bench and table for outdoor eating and every kitchen implement you need for your braai/overnight stay. The layout of the rooms provides for privacy and your car can be parked next to your room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered braai packs and salads which were in our room fridge on arrival - excellent food. Highly recommended as a stop over.

An amazing oasis in the Karoo to relax and unwind. Holding only 9 self catering chalets, this is a place where we felt at peace right from the start. The staff are very friendly and approachable; a credit to the camp.
Our chalet was clean and very well presented. Stocked with the basics including tea, coffee and even milk in the fridge for our arrival, the kitchen and outside space had plenty of facilities for us to cook on. In addition, we were able to have breakfast in the main congregation area if we wanted.
In addition to the chalet facilities, other facilities in the camp included a pool, bar area, outside and undercover seating areas (with the most comfortable sofas) and dining area / conference facilities. Walks were very well signposted and looked after, without spoiling the
I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to get away for some 'me time'.

Everything was immaculate, from the little chalets we stayed in, to the outside lawns and pool area....everything is beautifully kept and seen to.

Cleanliness 10/10
Location 10/10
Communication 10/10
Chalet 10/10 (everything you need)
Setting and surrounds 100/10 (it's that beautiful)
Friendliness 10/10
Staff 10/10

There are many walks to do, 4x4 trails, mountain bike trails, large outdoor space to enjoy with pool, bar (currently alcohol-free), braai area, dining/lounge area (inside and outside), and additional services like breakfasts, braai packs, firewood, ice etc.

It is amazing value for money and makes it an affordable option to visit the Karoo, spend an incredible time in nature, relax, unwind and experience a little piece of South Africas beauty.

Easy to find on road to Loxton on JHB road just outside Beaufort West. Road easlly acessable by saloon cars. Frendly welcome. Chalets the same save for two new larger chalets, see website which gives an accurate impression of place. Chalets very comfortable and quiet. Good aircon, stove, .microwave and fridge. Stocked with tea, coffee and small milk to get one going. Quality beds and pillows. Good rain has fallen and vegetation recovering rapidly. Variety of game frolic in front of chalets on specially kept green field but game a bit scarce after drought. A giraffe or five can usually be seen, with buck and baboons. They have a luxury thatched bar and a large blue pool. Barbecue packs and wood can be bought on site but for rest you must drive 15 minutes to Beaufort West . Checkers Supermarket is easy to find along main drag of B. West and has safe parking. Any and all food can be purchased there and including outstanding Cape wines at most reasonable prices. Beaufort West has a Clicks pharmacy which also stocks some general goods apart from medicines, The chalets do have a few mosquito's and flies (from all the animals I guess) but I found insect spray in a kitchen cupboard in the chalet. Maybe bring plug in mosquito spray. The Karoo National Park is 15 minutes away and worth a visit. Plenty of game there. Ko Ka is restful and good for a few days but I did have friends there who were staying four weeks. It offers a four wheel drive into the spectacular surrounding mountains.

One of the most restful places we have ever stayed. We were in the larger cottage on the edge of the property. We were happy to partake of delicious breakfast at incredibly reasonable prices in the dining lodge each morning. We took advantage of the Brai packs available to purchase along with wood from reception. The lodges are kept clean daily with useful Brai cleaning thrown in. There were several trails around the lodges for walks etc. Our lodge was well positioned to watch the impala return each evening to graze the lush grass in the lodge area. Plenty of birds and other wildlife around and close to the Karoo national park. Wonderful.

My wife Marcelle and I spent six days at this "Bush Camp" in Chalet #8. There was bush, but you had to go and walk or drive [wonderful 4x4 tracks] it and it was sooo interesting. The so called bush was a very well cared for and large green grass area with Thorntrees and views of the whatever mountains in front of the cottages. Our Chalet was very large with a well equipped kitchen, 2 aircons, kingsize bed and a double shower etc.
The management and the staff were excellently professional, helpful and knew how to make people relax from the Covid chaos :-)) We run our own Guesthouse in the Overberg and were sooo happy to have found this island of peace and harmony and pleasant "Bush" people - many thanks again for your 'treatment' Werner, Vanesse and your friendly helpers.

What an awesome lodge to spend our family reunion!! The chalets were well equipped and spotless clean and the giraffes grazing in front of the chalets early one morning was an absolute bonus.
Vanessa and her team made sure that we did not want for anything throughout our whole stay. The boma was lit when dusk set in and we enjoyed the Karoo evenings chatting away and catching up while the springbucks roam free on the well kept lawns.
Thanks Vanessa!!! You and your team made this a very memorable stay.

Service was excellent and very friendly. Staff very help full. The location very good not too far from town but we still could experience the Bush Camp environment and saw quite a few wild animals on farm. In the room I would have liked a firm king size mattress on bed instead of the 2 single beds. I can recommend Ko-Ka Tsara to friends and family and will definitely visit again.

Being someone who usually stops in the middle of the Karoo while on the way from Johannesburg to Cape Town, I was keen to see if there was somewhere a little further down the road than Richmond. And Beaufort West is not my favourite place! Ko-Ka Tsara however is perfect - close enough to Beaufort-West to ensure an easy run into Cape Town the next day and yet far enough out of town to be in the bush.

The site is surrounded by the mountains, and the accommodation was spotless and comfortable. The service was also excellent. We enjoyed the 4X4 trail up the mountain and saw gemsbok, eland, wildebeest and (I think!) a blesbok. Lovely.

We will definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Ko-Ka Tsara Bush Camp in the recent winter holidays. It's such a pleasure to be able to enjoy the feeling of being in typical African bushveld, without having to drive up all the way up country.

The A-frame chalets are well-equipped with everything you require to braai and cook, incl. crockery, cutlery, microwave, kettle, stove and fridge. The beds are comfortable and have electric blankets. There is also a TV with DSTV and good WIFI... It's even a great option for some remote working.

The staff are friendly, professional and helpful. We bought wood from the venue for our nightly braais, the braai areas are cleaned every day and the rooms are serviced well. We opted for breakfast every morning which was nice and well priced. There is also a honesty bar to which was well stocked with beers, cooldrinks and several decent wines.

Although there is no Big 5 on site, we preferred this because there is plenty of space for our kids to run around and play safely. We enjoyed nature walks and mountain biking in the park and were able to see game such as impala, giraffe, warthog, monkeys and birds all on foot or by bicycle. We didn't do it, but the Karoo National Park is close by, so if you wanted to do some more game drives, etc. it's close enough to visit that park for the day.

This was a gem of a find and we hope to return as soon as possible!

Answer from Ingrid K

Hi Mone I see your booking has come through for 2 chalets. Our chalets actually sleep 4, there are 2 x 3/4 beds downstairs and 2 x single beds on a mezzanine floor, accessed by a ladder so if you are happy with the open plan arrangement you would only need 1 chalet. Let me know how you feel about this, then you can cancel 1 chalet. Will wait to hear from you before I deduct the deposit. Kind regards Gail
