The room was neat, the staff were friendly. The parking area was far from the room and a bit unlevelled, we struggled a bit with our suitcases and other luggage to the room, for a standard room we received a room that we would rate 3 star, but the bed was comfortable with clean towels & bedding. Overall a good stay and not too expensive. We would suggest paying a bit more and booking the luxury rooms in the future.

We didn’t stay at Matoppo but went for a walk in Beaufort West and enjoyed a drink in the garden. What a beautiful guesthouse. Would definitely want to stay over some day! The rooms in the main house are kept of the time and feel plush with the 4m heigh ceilings and freestanding bath.

We arrived at 7.30pm so didn't get much time at the hotel. Rooms are very spacious with everything you need. Just a note we were in room 10 and the one window looked onto the diningroom and the lights were left on thecwhole night and curtains weren't black out curtains. There was only one dish and dessert for dinner and it was very nice but would of preferred a menu to select from.

We had once stayed at this lovely establishment a few years ago. Now we returned with our children for a night when driving from the Cape to Pretoria. As our prior visit we were greatly appreciative of Matoppo Inn’s high quality, classy and beautiful environment, interior decorating, infrastructure and guest rooms. The food is top shelf and delicious. We highly recommend this inn.

Matoppo Inn was a real delight. The rooms were delectably fresh and clean after the long afternoon drive from Cape Town. The kind ladies in the kitchen had produced a good vegetarian lasagna for us which was washed down with a cold beer. The front of house folk - Lionel when we arrived there sorted us out efficiently and helped us carry luggage to the room.

Breakfast included truly delicious flapjacks, made according a an 'oumagrootjie's' recipe. M y only suggestion as we left was that the inn commission the making of some beaded doilies to replace the plastic wrap on the breakfast spread.

Booked 3 rooms only one was good. Room 1 no hot water, could not wash the baby who did not sleep all night because of loadshedding. No emergency lights provided. From midnight to 2 am, total darkness. We were given candles but no matches. Anyway we could not even get to the candles the way it was dark. At supper the chicken schnitzel were inedible, too dry and hard and tasteless. Beddings and pillow cases in Room 5 were dirty, full of hair/pet hair? Lucky enough we got the staff to change them before they knocked off at 10pm. Breakfast orders were all wrong. Too expensive for what it is R155pp. Huge ants crawling in our bags and suitcases. Although the staff tried their best, still not good enough

Had a wonderful and relaxing experience after our long drive from Johannesburg.
A true Karoo dinner - marinated lamb chops and chicken schnitzel a must try, and boere-breakfast the next morning set us right for the long road ahead.
Again thanks to the staff for turning a stressful time into a peaceful experience.

We stayed one night in the two very elegant antique rooms of Matoppo Inn. The reception was warm and friendly. We felt like the drost himself! Valerie and her colleagues do everything possible to make your stay comfortable. We slept very well and enjoyed a real good Karoo breakfast. Worth mentioning also is the pristine garden which is kept by a shy but very professional and proud gardener who works at the premises for as many years as I can remember. Thank you Valerie and colleagues! Wouter van den Bor and Evert van den Born from Sweden and The Netherlands.

We love Matoppo and have stayed many times in the past. The sevice and all were great as always but now that dogs are allowed its just too much. While were were having dinner we saw dogs in the rooms on the stoep lying on the beds. I'm sure where we slept, dogs were also lying there before. We prefer non-pet friendly accommodation.

hi... I was welcomed by a very warm reception. You really can't fault the service or the rooms. It's easy to recommend Matoppo Inn. Maybe add an easy breakfast - bacon and eggs with some coffee or tea would be a good add on, specially when you are travelling.

Do you have a paraplegic room ???
Answer from JKG416

If memory serves me correctly rooms 1 - 7 have a minor step for access. A am not sure about the bathroom facilities, but can confirm that according to my experience the staff will be more than willing to assist with overcoming obstacles that are not cared for. I would advise you to contact them directly - their website is: matoppoinn (not allowed to publish more). If you are travelling alone it may be good to make arrangements, otherwise most areas are quite accessible, but entering the dining areas all involve between 1 and 3 steps (depending on the entrance you use.
