The Matoppo Inn is very welcoming, staff are pleasant, room was great (Number 2 in the house.) The garden is lovely and the onsite restaurant was a real bonus on a cold night!! With such an interesting history, it was a pleasure to stay here.
Matoppo Inn was a real delight. The rooms were delectably fresh and clean after the long afternoon drive from Cape Town. The kind ladies in the kitchen had produced a good vegetarian lasagna for us which was washed down with a cold beer. The front of house folk - Lionel when we arrived there sorted us out efficiently and helped us carry luggage to the room. Breakfast included truly delicious flapjacks, made according a an 'oumagrootjie's' recipe. M y only suggestion as we left was that the inn commission the making of some beaded doilies to replace the plastic wrap on the breakfast spread.
The disabled room was prepared and ready at our arrival. We were allowed to park right at the door to the room, for easy entry. I had not realized that we should have arranged for supper earlier, but the hostess arranged for supper, which was served in our room. The room was well appointed and comfortable, the supper and breakfast was well served and really tasty. I would recommend to anyone passing through Beaufort West.
Had a wonderful and relaxing experience after our long drive from Johannesburg. A true Karoo dinner - marinated lamb chops and chicken schnitzel a must try, and boere-breakfast the next morning set us right for the long road ahead. Again thanks to the staff for turning a stressful time into a peaceful experience.
The room was neat, the staff were friendly. The parking area was far from the room and a bit unlevelled, we struggled a bit with our suitcases and other luggage to the room, for a standard room we received a room that we would rate 3 star, but the bed was comfortable with clean towels & bedding. Overall a good stay and not too expensive. We would suggest paying a bit more and booking the luxury rooms in the future.
