The stop over becomes part of your holiday in this guest farm. Rooms are clean and well portioned. The Olive grove adds a relaxing feel and allows the holiday calm to settle in. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. Recommend getting the meals, and not worrying about packing for breakfast and dinner. The braai pack is true Karoo South Africa and allows you sit and take in the olive grove, while the meals served in the dining area is reminiscent of Sunday family dinners. This really is a family run guest farm, that forms part of a working Olive farm.

Lovely farm and friendly hosts. Awesome sunset and sunrise. Great outdoor braai area and boma. But was a bit overpriced for a room that is well worn and due a makeover. Booking was made after host suggested lamb shank dinner. Meatballs presented as a replacement at the same price after booking was made. Food was tasty but side dishes were tiny portions especially for the hefty price. Dessert was below average and barely edible. Cozy warm fireplace in reception lounge but fire could have been lit earlier. Old Brown Sherry welcome drink for guests in Winter would be a nice touch. Air conditioner heating setting did not work. Tiled floor in chalets are ice cold in winter. Individual braai grids are not cleaned. Fridge ice compartment requires defrosting. Electric blankets were a lifesaver during a cold night.

Room Tip: Better suited to Summer stopover and bring your own drinks and meat to braai. In-house dinners...

We loved relaxing under the trees with our lamb chops sizzling away. Warm bed, excellent shower, all requirements tip, top. Lovely walk. Very courteous, friendly staff, especially two charming young ladies. What a pleasure!

Staying at Olive Grove Guest Farm was our highlight of our trip down to Cape Town! The hospitality was second to none, Appie John and Marietjie, our hosts, became our family. The chalet had everything one could think of. The beds were super comfortable, there was a heating blanket on the bed and a heater against the wall which kept us nice and cozy on the cold winter’s night! The shower was huge and the water pressure amazing. The Kitchen was well stocked with cutlery and crockery including a full fridge freezer a microwave and a two-plate stove. It also has a breakfast nook! We were told the night that we stayed that the supper will be ready from 6pm but arrive earlier so we could have a drink and meet the hosts and other guests. Well, what a fantastic evening it was, talking to the other guests and the hosts!! We nearly forgot to have supper we were having such a good time! The supper was unbelievable and delicious to say the least, and you were offered more if you felt like overindulging, which I most definitely did! Were arrived as Guests and left as family. Thank you to Appie, John and Marietjie for such a memorable stay and we will most definitely be returning!! If I could give Olive Grove Guest Farm a million stars I would!! Lots of love Russell, Del and Lucy (Poodle) Thorndike

We over-nighted here. A lovely spot to stop over. So peaceful and pretty. The rooms are really well appointed and have everything you need. There is a cosy lounge with a fire in the main house where we dined The karoo lamb we had for dinner was very tasty. A relaxing place with nice walks on the property.

My favourite thing about staying in the Karoo is how big the skies are, how close to horizon the stars are visible! Coming from the city where light pollution hides so much, it's a treat. Twice I've been to Olive Grove, and both times was in Autumn, so I had lovely crisp weather. For night walking through the farm, you'll have a fresh and bracing experience, and you may well be woken by the merry sound of many sheep! (The lambs are adorable, I hope you'll get to see them). On my first visit I stayed in a self-catering guest chalet and this second time, in a guest room. Honestly, for a solo trip I think the guest room is the better choice, and even two people would fit comfortably, since there is one large bed and one small. Even if it's not self-catering technically, the guest room has a bar fridge, a kettle and a microwave, so if you plan well, you can easily cook for yourself. Because of the constraints of the room, you might find the fridge a bit loud at night (I simply switched mine off tho), as well as the extractor fan in the bathroom that's connected to the lights (but there's nothing so soothing as a shower in the dark). I was at the farm to re-centre myself and work on my book, so I didn't avail myself of the catering facilities much. But the staff/family are really lovely, and when I needed a couple things they were more than happy to help. I would love to go back again on my own, highly recommended for a meditative retreat. (Don't leave it to the last to fill up with petrol for your journey though, Beaufort West is quite a few KMs down the road, and the journey from the n1 down to the farm isn't brief either)

Earlier this year I booked a hunt with Appie Viviers, the owner of Olive Grove Farm. He was very friendly and accommodating as we communicated and planned for the said dates. Upon arrival, he was unavailable since he was occupied tending to other farming business. He later made the time to come to our chalet, and introduced himself to my wife and me. I immediately knew that this was to be a memorable hunt. As expected, everything went smoothly. His farm manager, John, was very professional in guiding the hunt, which resulted in me filling my quota within about 3-4 hours. My family and I will definitely be back.
