Compass House was the first stop of our honeymoon where we spent 5 wonderful nights. We were drawn to the hotel due to the fantastic reviews and were very much looking forward to kicking off our trip here. Location: Located in Bantry Bay, the hotel is very conveniently located to start a hike up Lion's Head and a cheap Uber away from the V&A, Camps Bay and central Cape Town. Note that there are no restaurants or bars that are easily accessed by foot and you will need to drive to eat out. Property: The hotel is easily accessed by car and has ample parking available. The entire hotel was clean and polished and designed beautifully. The infinity pool has a fantastic view of Bantry Bay and is a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Room: We were in a room that didn't directly overlook the Bay but was beautiful nonetheless and had its own little terrace. The bathroom was lush and well-designed and the room had plenty of storage for our things. We had some issues with the bathroom mirror light not turning off properly but that was eventually fixed. Service: The staff working at the hotel were always cheerful and responsive to any request that we had. Breakfast was delicious and made with care. We also had the pleasure to meet Olivier who is the owner of the property. Areas for improvement: Because there are no restaurants in the vicinity, it would be good to have some sort of food / snacks available (for purchase or otherwise) in the evenings. This may not be practical for a COVID environment but would be great to see the hotel implement once bookings go back to normal levels.…
Staying at Compass House hotel was the favourite part of our holiday to South Africa! The views and pool area are truly fabulous and have everything you could possibly need. The honesty bars are brilliant to ensure you always have a cold drink in your hand (although the fantastic service meant we rarely had to move!) and Mark and his team treated us like family. The hotel is very clean and exceptionally well presented, we honestly can't fault it and look forward to returning as soon as possible!
We had an amazing stay in a magic place. the rooms were very spacious with an incredible view of the ocean. Breakfast was plentiful with fresh homemade juices! Thank you to the whole team for your attentions to us.
My husband and I spend the last days of our 3-week-honeymoon in SA at this gorgeous little hidden gem. Mark and Daniel, the host and key contacts for all questions, requests, recommendations etc. were great from the very beginning until the end. Very personal and caring and also super fun to talk to. Everybody should also try Daniel's special signature drink - we loved enjoying it at the infinity pool. We had one incidents regarding our AC that did not work - but the team managed to solve this with high priority, continuous updates proactively brought up to us and not to mentioned the complimentary bubbles we got at arrival and also as an apology. We also loved the honor-bar concept which really made this place feel like home. We will be back! Thank you all very much.
What a fantastic place! Mark and his team made everything seem so easy, a real oasis in Cape Town. We had bad weather when we arrived so table mountain was out of action, thankfully Marks little black book was filled with alternatives and we had a great time sand dune driving and sand-boarding. Going over and above Mark also helped us secure reservations after we had left Cape Town and were in Franschhoek Thanks again Mark we will be back! Dave & Tash
Fantastic service and great location here at Compass House. The rooms are excellent with everything thought through. Brilliant breakfast overlooking the Ocean matched by a perfect sundowner (thanks Daniel!) in the evening. Mark and the team really listened and understood our requests and matched their suggestions of restaurants and excursions perfectly so we enjoyed a great break. Thoroughly recommended. I’m sure the sister hotel The Clarendon would be equally good too
The location, hotel, room, staff, service, vibe, sunset.. everything was perfect. The owner was extremely helpful on everything we need. Location was close to both parts of the city. Wish we could have stayed more.
Compass House Boutique was the PERFECT start to our honeymoon - it is a beautiful boutique hotel with stunning views, gorgeous interiors and impeccable service. Particular thanks to Mark who took such brilliant care of us - he couldn’t do enough to make our stay special and his local knowledge and restaurant recommendations were fantastic. The breakfast was superb as was the selection of food and drinks available in the lovely kitchen all day. We will be back!!!! Would highly, highly recommend to anybody visiting Cape Town - location is perfect - so easy to get to all the major attractions. Thanks again, S&A
I really cannot recommend this hotel enough. We spent 3 nights here 12-14th Jan in Room 4. Mark the Manager greeted us with Champagne and snacks, which was very welcome after a long flight from the UK. Despite arriving early our room was ready. Mark showed us all of the facilities and gave information about our room. We then spent a wonderful afternoon on our patio relaxing and enjoying the fabulous view. The room was immaculate, modern, light and airy. Later on we met Daniel who recommended our first meal at The Codfather in Camps Bay, he recommended us to travel around using Uber which he helped us set up on our phones. We had a lovely evening, amazing food. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, Breakfast is served on the terrace and was lovely. Daniel also recommended NV 80 grill just a short walk away which we tried on our last night and that was delicious. We were sad to leave and would love to return.…
Compass House was absolutely perfect in every way! Great location with the most beautiful views, cosy, comfortable and clean rooms and a wonderful staff that provided the best service and were so helpful and accommodating with everything, it felt like we we were staying with family. Special thanks to Mark who gave us the best tips and recommendations! We stayed 5 days and the entire stay was so smooth and wonderful, I cannot think of any possible cons in this place! The entire place had a very serene atmosphere and you couldn't help but feel relaxed. We had a wonderful and memorable stay at Compass House and can't wait to go back. Highly recommended. Ps. They have an excellent gin selection! Just ask Mark, he made us the best GTs.
