Spent the 1st weekend of jan 2020 at sun vacation club. Was booked at the" elephant" section of the chalets. It was a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom unit with a tv in the lounge and main bedroom. Great selection of tv channels.

Was not impressed with the upkeep of the chalet. Cupboard in the main bedroom didnt slide well. No aircon in the lounge area. The main bedroom aircon was not functioning properly.
It was a long walk to the shuttle. Will not recommend this section of chalets for older people.

Kids enjoyed valley of the waves, waterworld, ten pin bowling etc. Valley of the waves was more busier on the Saturday then the sunday. Please make sure u carry cash into the valley of the waves area as most vendors do not accept credit card. This includes the the hiring of towels as well. Carry your own umbrellas, towels and folding chair if possible. No outside food allowed into the valley of the waves.

If u have a smaller family, will recommend staying at the cabanas. Plenty halaal options for meals. Great place.

My wife and I recently spent a midweek at the Sun Vacation Club, part of the Tsogo Sun hotel at Sun City. It was great to see the many attractions available for people with small kids, plus those who love golf have a fantastic opportunity - the golf course was designed by the renowned Gary Player.
We found the unit allocated to us, in the Cheetah section, to be well appointed, very clean and comfortable. Staff at check-in were very professional and helpful, especially Christopher who recognised us from a previous visit. He requested the receptionist to "look after my guests" - what a pleasure.
From the Sun Vacation Club, it is 10 minutes drive to the entrance gate for Pilanesberg Game Reserve, which has an abundance of wildlife, including the 'Big Five' and lots of birds for bird photography.

We always stay at Sun Vacation Club because of its easy proximity to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, and the variety of things to do in the resort. The staff are all friendly and helpful, from the check-in to the cleaning and maintenance people. Despite the beautifully manicured gardens and the cleanliness of the pools and entertainment areas, the outside facade of the units in The Reserve are looking very tired and in need of maintenance.

The rooms are well appointed, with regular changes of towels and great service from cleaning staff. But the basins and sink had an awful sewer smell, and a sewerage pipe overflowed right next to our patio, making it impossible to sit outdoors. I reported it, but it wasn't fixed by the time we left. These are the small things that make a visit a disappointment, or a delight.

The closure of the gate to the Bakubung entrance meant we had to drive to the main road, adding at least 40 minutes round trip to each visit to the Park. There must be a way to better manage this.

For children this is an amazing venue with wonderful play areas and water parks. It is safe with many different activities for the whole family .

I stayed over this past weekend

- the royal baths pool was disgusting slimy and so many insects
- Service was ridiculous ( reception , restaurants , bartenders ) as well as didn’t have a decent shower if we stood in rain we’d be cleaner !

Beautiful place poorly managed

Also their reception just sees an owners name and allocates any of their units to guests without checking confirmation numbers and makes
It your problem I stood crying for
Two hours thinking I got scammed only to find out they f**d up & they did not apologize for any inconvience made me belive I will pay again ( a group of 8 people )

They really don’t know how to deal with situations ( mind you I am someone that suffers with sever anxiety and panic attacks ) they are clearly not capability of dealing with their
Own mistakes

I saw another foreign lady complain about having no power for more than 4 hours and burning electricals

Our bedrooms barely had any light they where so dim or dying
No irons fine we carried Our own but cannot see a thing.

Was really excited to enjoy a lil birthday vacation that was ruined by poor management!

So we arrived back at the unit at about 16:30 on our last day. Opened the door and there was a few inches of water pouring out the door. Apon further inspection, the pipe under the kitchen sink had burst. So not really something you can control but that wasn't the problem in this case. After finally waiting for the phone to start up(key card power) , my daughter who is 18 months old slipped and so did my nephew. Lucky they weren't hurt. After speaking to someone at reception, they said that maintenance would be there shortly. 30 minutes later no one had arrived. I call reception and asked(I would assume that in a situation like this, I would have got offered to be moved) if I could be moved to another unit and one close by. Finally the maintenance guy arrived to fix it, only an hour and a bit in and some of my cloths and my daughters duvet was soaking. Further more I was not offered assistance to move our stuff to the new unit and it took about 2 hours to do so. By this time the maintenance guy said staff would come to clean the unit and that never happened. In these hours I couldn't assist my wife and daughter, for bath and dinner time as I was moving all our stuff to the new unit. There was NO apology from anyone, no assistance in moving our stuff and very little concern for what was a great holiday but had to spend my last evening sorting the mess without any help from Vacation Club. Again when I checked out this morning, very little concern for what had occurred. Messaged another staff member and said someone would be in contact with me, I still haven't heard anything and it's been 3 days!

Apparently they have been refurbished - new fabric on couches, aircon units in the bedrooms, that's about all. Bathrooms are the same. Our chalet 489 was clean, everything worked, except the shower - spray was very weak, bad smell, and sink was blocked and didn't drain away. I told reception but nothing was done during our 5 day stay.
The icons on the knobs for the temp etc. on the oven had been rubbed off.

My family and I stayed at the vacation club in November. Unfortunately there was a leak due to a malfunctioning toilet which flooded out apartment and caused some damage to our belongings. The room was uninhabitable and we were relocated - sh*t happens.

When we first reported the problem it seemed clear this was an historic issue judging from the reactions of the staff.

We filled in a report on the incident at Sun City and I have since sent a some follow up emails. I once managed to get through to someone on the phone who was aware of the incident but wasn't able to resolve it until the GM back from leave. Other than automated emails there has been nothing from the resort.

The lack of response is a frustrating and will likely mean we chose other options in the future.

The Vacation Club is a great place to go with the family especially if you have young children. Accommodation is spacious and the surroundings are tranquil with great bird life and some bucks (beware of the monkeys). Heated pool is a winner for the kids and plenty to do in Sun City in general. Try go outside of peak holiday season.
