Gatz is very conveniently located..about 20km from Suncity & Pilanesberg. So if you are only going for a night or weekend away from Johannesburg, and want to cover both Suncity & Pilanesberg, this place is a good cheap option. I went with a group of friends and booked 3 cottages. they are very small, with double beds, a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. the bathroom is a decent size. So overall, a nice comfy place to rest for the night. The staff are very friendly and nice. They also serve breakfast, but we didn't have it as we had gone for a game drive and came back much later.

they do not serve any dinner and there aren't any places around to really eat. so its best to eat at suncity and then come back to the guesthouse.

The guest house is roughly 20kms from sun city . the location is ideal for day trips to sun city.

the rooms were furnished nicely. Thato was extremely helpful and accomodating.

It is situated on a huge farm, and kids have ample room to run amd play.

i would highly recommend this guest house .

PS Nice touch getting your vehicle washed every morning.

Friendly staff, good breakfast, BUT don't take the DELUXE ROOM, simply not good enough, BUT after one night , we moved to the family rooms, NOW THAT IS NICE. Spacious , big bed, big clean room, nice , nice en suite bathroom, beautiful room outside of the valleys and mountains!!!!!

😍What a peaceful beautiful
place👌👌👌The rooms are very nice and clean. The stuff is very friendly and always around to help with every little thing. We had our 10th wedding anniversary at the place.. Sis Thato made our day so special 😍 The decor was on point and the food was so tasty. She even went an extra mile 'we got more that we expected. We will definitely go back again.
Thank you so much Sis Thato and stuff

On arrival at night we were greeted by security who doubles up as a receptionist. He leaves his post running from the gate to reception and then walks you to the rooms. One of our rooms had no key so we could not lock and then the same room had no water so we had to ask our neighbours if we could use their water.now that's uncomfortable. There were lots of huge spiders in both rooms. The second room's toilet was leaking after every flush. The towels are old and rough. The breakfast was horrendous the "spar" ladies who served breakfast did nit know what was happening when you asked for different types of food.they kept on saying they don't have now I have paid for a service which we did not get. There were red ants in our room marching from the wardrobe. There are no two pin plugs to charge your phones . Only 1 glass to share in the rooms. Two different tea cups. This whole place needs to be revamped including the staff. Won't recommend this place to anyone. I am very disappointed.

Not very nice at all. Staff was not friendly or professional. Room was dirty and did not smell nice. Booked one night but left within a hour. Booked the deluxe room but the geyser broke and they moved me to standard room. Left the place and went to a different B&B

I booked through booking.com and we stayed there from 8-9 august (1 night only)
On 11 august two amounts were charged to my card - the total for the night. Imagine my surprise when today the 29th august i get another charge put through on my card for another R670. So they are just charging my card with a random amount hoping i don't notice - theft at it's best.

The stay was also crap to put it mildly - the reception lady is so nice that I rated them 7/10 on booking.com but after this theft and fraud I will actually say it like it is.

It's situated in a township, close to the park gate, but a terrible dangerous drive in the dark.
I was dusty from being in the park all day and all I wanted was a bath - no bath plug and no hot water in the shower - so none of us could even freshen up and reception was closed by now (8pm).

A group of people were having a braai outside our door so the noise went on for hours. You cannot get food (dinner) here so we had to trek further into the township and eventually settle on instant soup made with the kettle in the room.

Pro: they washed our car in the morning, breakfast was edible
Con: awful area, very very basic, they can't be trusted with your credit card details.

Booked here for a couples weekend away. Expected a good setting that was conducive to a bit of late night drinks and good memories instead we left a day early because of the uncomfortable feel of the place.
The staff were very friendly and the manager was very accommodating which was a positive.
The biggest problem was the overall look and feel of the place which felt very dated and not very well maintained.
We were given the "blue room" which had ther bath room in another room that was separated by a hall way that did not lock. The room itself was very average with a bed that felt as if you were sleeping on the floor. The bedding was not clean as I found what seemed to be woman's make up on the pillow cases.
Everything creeked and rattled from the cupboard doors to the room doors and even the bed.
The place is also not ideally situated as there is no acceptable eating places anywhere close. If arriving late afternoon or at night, there is no option but suncity which is 19km away.
Breakfast was ok and acceptable given the price paid.

If not for suncity, i really don't see why anyone would book into this place.
Pictures on online are also very misleading!

My first stay here with a friend, about a year ago, was a very pleasant experience. I decided to go back, this time with my husband and daughter. My husband is a tour operator so instead of using the usual booking.com tool (the only booking system Gatz uses!) he phoned and e-mailed to make a booking. The owner said it was all good, even though she did not come back with a formal booking. Upon arrival the place was dead. We eventually found a female staff member who shouted at us 'who are you' and 'did you book?'. No 'how are you' or 'how can I help'. The attitude was very unfriendly. We got a room but did not manage to get in touch with the owner, she also did not try to contact us even though we felt we deserved an apology for the 'welcome'. All we were left with was a letter on our bed which wasn't anything personal but just the invoice. Breakfast was excellent, the staff there were nice. Once everything was sorted it was all OK. However, for a next visit to Pilanesberg I rather go try somewhere else.

We stayed here at the of August and we had an amazing time! Food (breakfast and dinner) was really good, they arranged everything for us! The owner is really nice and she made sure we had everything we needed.
