This is a very nice family orientated establishment. They had loads to do for the children. Including a holiday program, games room, water slide, jumping castle, trampoline, tennis courts, swimming pools etc.. The children enjoyed the marshmallow braai and dvd's at dinner time. The gardens are beautiful and the trees ensures tots of shade at the pool area. The spa is relaxing and the massages wonderful. Adults can relax in the spa area, Jacuzzi and indoor swimming area with gym. The buffet breakfast and dinners were good. It was an relaxing experience with fun filled activities for the whole family. The rooms are a bit dated, but works. Everything was clean and the service was good.

Thank you for your lovely Tripadvisor review. We pride ourselves as a family resort, and provide activities and entertainment to keep children happy, and allow parents time to relax. Our location in the Magaliesberg Mountains less than 2 hours drive from the Gautenf cities, makes us a perfect weekend or short breakaway. We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

My husband and our 3 kids had a lovely weekend away at Sparkling Waters. There was loads for the kids to do from the pool, tennis courts, cricket, playground, puttputt and the games room. The food was great and we had a lovely "old school" family holiday. Our room was neat and clean but a bit dated, however the management assured me they are busy with an upgrade. We will definitely be back!

We have been to Sparkling Waters on a number of occasions, this time with our 3 young grand kids and their Mom.Whilst the rooms are quite dated, they are nevertheless clean and well maintained. The service, food and general attentiveness of all of the staff made up for it.The weekend sped by,as the kids were always occupied, either playing in the pools, other outdoor activities,or watching there own movies, and eating the meals prepared for them, leaving us free to enjoy our meals, without distraction. The icing on the cake was a 2 hr tree-tops zip line experience, which everyone thought was a fitting end to another good weekend.I would suggest that anyone going to this part of the world use the hotel as a base to explore some of the many other attractions of the Magaliesburg, such as Hiking, check out the adjacent animal sanctuaries

This is my far the worst place we have stayed at. For 500pp a night there's no breakfast included. An additional 165 had to be paid for a buffet breakfast which was an absolute rip off
No wifi and limited channels. The rooms where full of bugs and the phones dont work so you cant call for room service. We had no hot water and had to shower in our friends room. The pillows where so old and worn out that we had to use the spare duvets as pillows. The menu is limited and overpriced and the food is absolutely awful. There where guests that partied till late and nothing was done about it and we had to go to reception after midnight to get someone to help with the excessive noise and music and no one was there resulting in us walking to the entrance to find security. Management did absolutely nothing about the hot water or the discomfort we endured due to being unable to sleep properly and the excessive noise
No apologies or anything done to rectify anything let alone get the hot water sorted
You have to pay to use the gym/jacuzzi and the steam room was not working and alot of renovations need to be done
Dont waste your time or money going to this place because it's a rip off and you get absolutely nothing here

Beautiful nature, gardens and surroundings. Some areas of the facility eg. dining areas are well kept, some areas need urgent attention. Storage space next to the swimming pool is inapproriate, play room very dillapidated. The food is very expensive and sub standard.

We have been going here for the last 7 years. When I phoned to book this time they told me there was some renovations taking place. They did not tell me the place was bought by some pastor who is changing it into a bling monstrosity in the middle of the bush. The hot pool was ice cold. The tv had only 4 channels, and the only clear one was the new owner's own channel. The food was not even anywhere near what it used to be. I wasted my time and money, and feel cheated by them.My advice, stay the hell away from this place.

Worst experience ever and will NEVER refer business or family/
friends to Sparkling Waters facilities or accommodation!

Sparkling Waters Resort (Magaliesburg) hosted a religious group with hundreds of people through the course of the day and overnight this past Saturday. The group had every right to be there having paid to host their ceremony at Sparkling Waters, however had no right at all to monopolise the entire Resort and make it extremely unpleasant for other guests.

My colleagues were threatened by the Pastors’ security entourage at gun point when walking to their rooms, their patio furniture had been removed so that the group could use it for themselves, some group members camped out on the patios of my colleagues’ Chalets so there was no privacy at all, they were forced to leave the pool area and the group was unbearably loud. Add to that, the employees of Sparkling Waters refused access to my colleagues to the dining area at dinner stating that the food was for the group only. After complaints management allowed them into the dining area but it was too late at that stage leaving very little, to no food left for them.

As the evening progressed it worsened and it was unfortunately too late in the evening for my colleagues to leave. They felt threatened and had to lock themselves in their rooms for the majority of the stay. To make matters worse; the group then started breaking down the stage at mid-night making even more noise thus they were unable to rest after this stressful time.

The Resort had no control over what was happening and should take responsibility for extremely poor management, allowing their guests to feel so uncomfortable and worst of all, unsafe.

We were informed of the Church group but was not expecting approximately 600 – 800 people. If the amount of people was mentioned the booking would have been moved or Sparkling waters should have booked the venue exclusively for the group not allowing further bookings. It was very unexpected to find a church group so violent, threatening, disrespectful and rude.

When these concerns were addressed with the manager, favour was taken with the church group. It is understandable that a booking for the majority of the resort for such a big event is great for business but do not forget about the smaller groups and individuals who will refer regular business in the Future. Think long term! As one of the people responsible for making team building, conference venue and incentive trip bookings for a large national corporate company, Sparkling Waters have been removed from the list completely as an option. The company staff, associate companies and personal relations will be informed about this and chances are that nobody will visit the resort knowing about these events that unfolded.

To Sparkling Waters management; We paid a significant amount to host our team building and book four rooms. Words cannot explain how dissatisfied we are. We definitely did not get our money’s worth and the promise that your Resort offers. Also please be mindful to not allow this to happen to other guests in future.

I am expressing this online as the manager had said he would resolve matters on the evening however did not return or make any effort.

Understandably the hotel is under renovation which are very disruptive. We came for my birthday weekend to find the room decorated like something from the 90s and overpriced. Our phone didn't even work and the power constantly went off all the time. The dinner and breakfast was in the coference centre and way below standard. Every time we dined there was flies in the flower vases. Very disgusting! This hotel needs the upgrade to its services and appearance. Hope the new management can turn it around.

Dear Carmen, As a valued guest, we thank you and appreciate your feedback posted onto TripAdvisor. As we pride ourselves on delivering a memorable hotel experience during your stay, we are disappointed that we weren’t able to exceed your expectations. Please accept our sincere apology for the experience that you had during your stay, as this is not what we want our GUEST to experience. To touch on the small things you mentioned, our restaurant is just temporal at the Conference Center as its currently being upgraded which will be completed shortly. We hope that once the renovations are done, you wont be expecting the bad experience you encountered. Once again thank you for your value feedback and we look forward welcoming you back again in the near future once the Hotel has been fully upgraded. Kind Regards, Senzo Sibandze Front Office Manager

Unfortunately we were not told that the hotel was under going a major renovation so our stay was an absolute shock. There was mould in the showers, the toilet seat came off and generally it was a real disappointment.
The one positive thing was the food which was outstanding.
I am sorry to say I would not travel back there in the future.
I think once the upgrade is complete it is going to be a beautiful 5 star resort..

We recently stayed at your resort this past long weekend and I would like to inform you of how disappointing the stay was.
We understand that you are doing renovations, however the rate you charged should have been discounted to say the least.

We have stayed at your resort in the past and it was absolutely amazing.

This time however I would like to raise the following points as to why I am saying it was so disappointing.

1) There was absolutely no activities for our kids
2) The food selection was terrible on the first night (Saturday), and marginally better on Sunday night
3) The venue in which you served the food was terrible, a banquet hall for food?
4) The games room for the kids really needs to be redone and updated

A few years ago, your food was out of this world including the selection was brilliant to say the least.
You had kids activities on the grounds during the day which included a water slide.

The only upside I can state is that the room we were allocated was not bad at all, minus the wasps that occasionally flew in.

I’m not one to usually complain but to pay R4500 for 2 nights to me was a rip off and will not be coming back anytime soon.

Response from Sparklingwatershotel, General Manager at Sparkling Waters Hotel & Spa
Responded 03 May 2017
Dear Arri Benson Thank you for your mail and thank you for bringing this to my attention, it is sad to hear that you had a bad experience at Sparkling Waters. As you noticed, we are currently under renovations and have had to move the restaurant to the main conference hall temporarily while we finish upgrading the main building, we should be finished by September this year. Our first phase is for the entire Main building to be upgraded, including two restaurants, a coffee lounge, boutique (shop), formal & informal lounges, plus a large outside deck overlooking the valley. It is going to be fantastic. Thereafter we will move on to the rooms and other facilities – including the games room. I must tell you that some of our guests love the retro arcade games. I see that you were booked on one of our packages the: Summer Family Getaway Package. Which includes: R 4500 for two nights Welcome Cocktails Spa Treatment (Aromatherapy Full body for 50mins for a couple) Breakfast and Dinner 2 nights stay Kids under 12 years stay for Free Price is for 2 adults sharing for two nights Executive room/family room This package is priced at a discounted rate, if you compare it to our rack rates, you will notice it is a great deal, I’m sorry to hear that you believe you were “ripped off”. We advertised the kiddies entertainment on our notice board in the foyer area, the entertainment for the weekend included: pellet gun shooting, face painting in the games room, kiddies buffet & movies at dinner with baby sitters, “marshmallo braai” around the bon fire on both Friday & Saturday. As we are moving into winter and it is a bit cooler during the day we decided not to set the water slide up, we hired a large jumping castle instead. I have read all of the comment forms for the weekend and have only positive comments regarding the food over the weekend, however, if you were not satisfied and brought it to the Chef or manager’s attention they could have prepared a dish from the lunch ala carte menu for you. Sparkling waters is always looking for ways to improve, this post on “tripadvisor” will certainly motivate the team to try even harder, I thank you for taking the time.

Soweto, Gauteng, South Africa
Hi, so what are the prices of the stay here at the hotel
Answer from Paul B
Rustenburg, South Africa48 contributions57 helpful votes
Hello, sorry for the late reply, I have been out of the office for a few days. Yes, it is a good idea to check our website, especially as we publish specials from time to time which may be of interest. One night stays are generally at Rack Rate. Two night midweek or weekend specials attract a special rate. Please note also that children under 5 years are free, and 6-10, and 11-15 are at special rates. We can send a tariff sheet on request, and look forward to opening our doors to you soon.
