Had a great stay at Manyane, the campsite was clean, stands were big enough. The staff was friendly. Most of the toilets and showers were clean. Will definitely book there again. Was concerned after reading some of the reviews before our stay, however, I was pleasantly surprised.

I do understand that due to COVID-19 there is limited staff on call, however, I would recommend that Manyane ensure regular maintenance on the showers and toilets to ensure all showers and toilets are working properly.

As a regular visitor to Pilanesberg National Park, specifically Manyane Camp it is very upsetting to see the poor maintenance we saw the past weekend, we never had these problems in Manyane Camp and by now I can't see that we can still blame COVID-19.

We had absolutely no hot water and this was not due to the amount of people in camp, I was there in the mornings 05:00am and at night at 10:00pm and there was not hot water, this happened with both me and my wife at the different ablution facilities, even walked to two other ablutions facilities where there was the same problem

Then there was no toilet paper at times and the bathrooms especially the showers were very dirty as there was nothing available for people to dry the floors after using the showers. To think in this COVID-19 time’s hygiene should be top priority in these camps.

A number of wash basins in the bathroom's taps did not work

My wife had the issue in their ablution facilities where a number of toilets could not flush, people used the toilets not knowing it can't flush and could unfortunately not do anything about it, very unhygienic.

If one takes the number of people who were in Mayane camp, I personally don't think the camp can handle that many people

We paid for and electrified camp site and had no power Friday evening up until 10:00pm

My wife also experienced a bad situation where there were some people sitting within the lady's bathroom inside showers while they were drinking alcohol, absolutely ridiculous and surely this cannot be allowed.

The braai's are also in a very bad condition, some braai's fall through and definitely need to be replaced, a camp site can accommodate quite a few tents and when you look at the braai you can barely get all the meat on there.

In general, the maintenance of the ablution facilities is very poor and it is in a very unhygienic condition.

Furthermore to the park, the general maintenance of the tar roads and some gravel roads are not up to standard, there is so many potholes in the tar roads and one need to drive very carefully.

Pilanesberg is a jewel, absolutely stunning to experience nature, we had wonderful sightings which include the big 5 on two occasions the past weekend, but unfortunately the maintenance is not up to standard. This is one of the Northwest Province Flagship reserves and should therefore be maintained as such, it is next to Sun City, and also very popular to the people of Gauteng and one would expect the local government in Northwest stand up and start to maintain this park in the same way SANPARKS maintain their parks, it is too often that local governments don’t attend and maintain to the upkeep of National parks and Nature Reserves although they play such a massive role in the local economy.

Our stay at Manyane Resort was wonderful. The chalet was well equipped and very clean. The staff was friendly and happy to help us when needed. The cooked breakfast was great after an early morning game drive. And the location was perfect as it look about 5 minutes to get into the park. A plus was the impala and beautiful birds that surrounded our chalet. Overall, a wonderful stay.

Manyane Resort is a lodge, bungalow and camping resort on the edge of Pilanesberg National Park.

The resort rooms were functional with a small cement pad porch and grill for cooking your own meals.

You could also walk to the main lodge where there is a pool, restaurant and bar.

The food at the restaurant was top notch with some unique dishes. The bar had ice cold beer and an intimate setting.

Best thing about the place is it’s proximity to the park. A quick two minute drive and you are in the park.

Chalets were clean and on the whole well equipped. Outside chairs missing on arrival but sorted quickly once reported. The cooked breakfast on the first morning was cold. You certainly get what you pay for.

We camped at Manyane a while ago and what a mess it was. We stopped at a campsite and tried to connect the electricity to our camper, all the buttons on the box were broken and could not switch on any power which meant that 4 sites that use power from that box were unusable. The braais on each site have holes in them and rusted and virtually unusable. One whole ablution block could not be used due to electric problems and cold water. Two power boxes have bare electric wires and no covers and wires run across the road. No hot water in the one ablution, dish wash up area very dirty. Campsite in general very untidy and dirty, old tree stumps and broken braais lying around. Management is non existent when looking for someone to complain to. We have camped Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia so i don't expect 5 star facilities but this is a mess. The roads in the Game Reserve are full of bad potholes and some roads even closed due to bad potholes.. We have been camping at Manyane for about 30 years and this is the worst its been. We will not go back there.

All smiles but no service or pride
We requested self catering accommodation for two. Found that unit did not have the facilities. Requested alternative accomodation. With smiles we were reallocated. Manyane was empty but we must have been given the worst unit
Door locks look like they have been forced open.
Doors that can't give access to veranda
Serious rust on all door and window frames
Veranda covered with roof decking grass. No chairs on veranda
So it goes on.
I sent email to management with photos and a polite request for a reply. A week later no reply.
Manyane can be lovely but not now.

It was quite sad to see how this beautiful resort has deteriorated. On our first morning I was charged by an aggressive male baboon twice. They have no fear for humans and basically chased me out of my own campsite to get to the food. They enter the camp through gaps in the fence and go on a rampage through the camp. We are experienced campers and I never leave fresh produce out, but this lot opened boxes of mincemate and even tins of chopped tomato and a glass jar containing sugar. Management just claims not to take responsibility for any loss.

Our two boys came across a dead impala lamb that drowned in the day visitors area swimming pool that is no longer in use. It must have been there for several days already.

The earth leakage on the camp site electrical box was also out of order, this is a high risk and non COC compliant.

Staff are friendly and polite, but there is absolutely NO MAINTENANCE taking place.

I will not recommend Manyane as a camping site.

We visited friends who were in the caravan park. I always remember this park being beautifully maintained with green well kept lawn and gardens. Sadly it looks sad. The ablution facility was clean and tidy. But the approach to the reception and beyond let’s this once Prestine park down. Some good gardening and touching up is desperately needed. Also the tents with damaged canvas - rather remove it than let it flap in the wind. Not sure if Golden Leopard Resorts still runs it - but who ever is responsible is letting a “ little gem” go to ruins.

Manyane Resort has always been a favourite of ours. But it has sadly being going backwards over the last few years. We arrived on Friday afternoon and booked into our chalet. We were told we could not use the main pool as it was green and needed to be fixed. We were directed to the chalets pool, which turned out to be just as green. We called reception repeatedly requesting that maintenance be sent to the pool to put in chemicals. Someone finally responded late Friday evening. Not enough chemicals were added and it still stank a bit. More was added on Saturday evening which resulted in a finally clean pool. Sunday early morning at 12:30 the one toilet pipe burst and flooded the unit. We were given a key to use the bathroom in the adjacent unit (was not big enough) for us. There was no one on site to fix the toilet. The chalet was full of insects, had bad bed bug bites, a scorpian bite and other bites. The Resort shop was empty of any essentials and everything else mind you. The whole resort has an air of neglect. I would not recommend staying there either in the chalets or camping. Very sad.

Notice a lot of complaints regarding shebeen noise, Can any one recommend camping spot furthest from noise?
Answer from Sojournwithme
Xenia, Ohio390 contributions68 helpful votes
The noise seems to come from Mogwase. I'm not sure it can be avoided. I don't recall it happening every night. I found it loud enough to notice but not loud enough to interfere with conversations. That said, it would be so much better if it wasn't heard at all and one could just listen to the night sounds of nature.
