Within the northern region of the Pilanesberg National Park lies an ancient amphitheatre and its in this basin, surrounded by volcanic spires and rolling savannah grassland, that Ivory Tree Game Lodge has been beautifully crafted. The central guest areas include lounges, bar, a dining room and feature rock pool. Small intimate guest areas have been created to retain warmth and seclusion for the individual guests. Sweeping patios provide the ideal venue for delicious English breakfasts and light luncheons with the boma reserved for fire-side dinners. 60 Luxury chalets have been carefully positioned along foot-hills ensuring optimal views of either the mountainous surrounds or the central open area. Each chalet featuring an outside shower, air-conditioner, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee making facility, has been tastefully decorated in earthly tones. This theme is carried through to the spacious bathroom, and it is here that you may choose to relax in your bath beneath a panoramic window or step out for an invigorating shower. Ivory Tree boasts a new wellness experience presenting a wide variety of treatment options designed to relax mind, body and soul. The unique design and position of the treatment rooms ensure uninterrupted views of the reserve. Ivory Tree presents generous bed capacity and has been carefully designed to ensure optimal guest privacy whilst being able to create unique incentive experiences. Whilst our attention is focused around close and unrestricted encounters with Africa’s big game, incentive experiences also include bush dinners, our own version of the amazing race, and numerous additional activities. The lodge also boasts an equipped conference facility. Striving to maintain high levels of personal attention and guest comfort, game drive vehicles are custom built ensuring optimal panoramic visibility. Amongst the most experienced in the Pilanesberg, our rangers and hosts are committed to binging you close encounters with a wide variety of big game, including the big 5, cheetah and wild dog, during morning and evening game drives.

Only 2 hours from Johannesburg Ivory Tree is a great bush getaway for couples and families! The Pilanesberg is a beautiful game reserve and we were fortunate enough to get some incredible sightings of the big 5 and more. The family room is modern, spacious, clean and has all the modern amenities one would expect from a five start resort. The family room also has a great little dip in pool for a cool down during those hot Summer afternoons. The staff are amazing, so friendly and attentive, always smiling and always there to assist. The food is delicious and plentiful and meal times were always happy times where you can see people smiling, laughing and enjoying the beauty of their surroundings. The game drives are action packed and complimented by your professional knowledgeable ranger who will teach you so much about nature. Overall an amazing bush adventure jam packed with special memories. I would definitely recommend Ivory Tree for your next holiday getaway, I cant wait to go back!

From 12 - 14 Feb four of us spent a very enjoyable weekend at Ivory Tree Lodge in the pilansberg. I highly recommend it for the following reasons :- Very cheerful, welcoming knowledgeable staff Comfortable accommodation Delicious variety in their meal selections. Memorable game drives to see fauna, flora and scenic landscapes at sunrise and at sunset . Which leads me to the one completely unacceptable, and astonishing decision which can only have been instructed by number-crunchers whose only concern is the bottom-line - when the rest of the world is focused on avoiding flat-lining at all costs due to the covid 19 pandemic :- The game drive vehicles are filled to capacity !! Zero social distancing between families and groups which makes no sense since the staff are testing temperatures and implementing social distancing everywhere else on the property!?! Please stop , with immediate effect, packing the game drive vehicles because we are not paying to stay at this lodge only to be stacked next to strangers like sardines. Doing this one thing to save on vehicles , guides, fuel or whatever renders everything else academic , something the head office people are choosing to whitewash. Just stop it please because we want to live to return to Ivory Tree Lodge. This one instruction left everyone feeling duped. As for the staff of Ivory Tree Lodge : 10/10 hence my high rating. Thank you !

Dear '27trip123' Thank you very much for the great review. The team is working really hard to create those memorable experiences and it is great to know when we are successful. As you mention, we do all in our power to conform and follow all regulations and restriction guidelines prescribed by our Industry Regulators. These powers have deemed it sufficiently safe to allow 10 persons per vehicle, seeing that those persons are required to sanitize before climbing onto the vehicle as well as wear their masks throughout the drive. When we are busy, we are compelled to allocate 10 persons per vehicle, but the last couple of months have shown us that only 80% of our guests tend to go on drive, meaning that as a norm there would normally only be 8 persons per vehicle. We do move guests around to the best of our ability to ensure that we spread the guests. In defense of the powers that be, that make these decisions, we are not doing this because of the profits but rather to stay afloat. We had several months of no trade and even now, we only enjoy good business over weekends, where mid-week business is wanting. I know this is a brutal honest answer, which should probably not be shared on such a platform, but I trust that any person reading this would understand that sometimes we do things out of compulsion, and not by choice. With that said, I assure you that we will continue to do everything in our power to keep our guests safe, as we too want you to return as healthy if not healthier than what you arrived. Thank you for the support and your feedback. Warm regards Reinhardt Saayman General Manager

I spent the weekend of valentines day at Ivory tree Game lodge. Given that it is a 5 star lodge we were looking forward for a 5 star treatment, however the basics were not done. Though I requested a romantic turndown, I was disappointed to find my room in a mess and none of the above was done. The romantic turndown to me should be a normal service in a 5 star lodge on a normal day but even more so on a Valentine's weekend. So I was not impressed when even though I requested one it was not done. The lodge is not an intimate one with 60 rooms, thus instead of having a peaceful weekend getaway it was more like a night in a regular hotel with decent food. The ever-so advertised Boma fire-lit dinner was not done on our visit, this was apparently due the fully booked lodge, instead we had supper at the poolside. This was another downside. The wifi was another issue, though the staff tried to fix the problem it kept breaking. The common reception bathrooms were not clean; could this be due to the lodge being fully booked that weekend.. probably.. however it is still unacceptable for a 5-star lodge. An overall mediocre stay for a 5-star lodge

Dear 'Hemalg2021' It is never easy to read that we left a guest unhappy and dissatisfied, especially when we aspire to consistent exceptional service. I am truly sorry that we failed you in this regard. As you rightfully state, we were quite busy for Valentines weekend, and experienced a far greater number of couples than normal. This resulted in our Boma not being large enough for the amount of 2 seater tables required. We too would have wished to do a Boma, but hoped that ALL our guests would appreciate the alternative of still having dinner under the African skies and around our pool area. Sorry to learn that this was not the case. I am not sure how your request for romantic turndown fell through the cracks. We had MANY bookings on a Special Valentines promotion, which meant A LOT of our rooms did get a romantic turndown, but regrettably we were not in a position to do this for all 67 of our rooms, due to certain constraints we are currently facing. For this I am eternally sorry that this caused disappointment on this romantic weekend, and I can only wish that you would offer us another opportunity to make up for this. Please come and visit again, we truly wish to offer you a memorable stay for all the right reasons and not for the bad. Wishing you only the best. Kind regards Reinhardt Saayman General Manager

We had a lovely stay at Ivory Tree for our anniversary. The food, service- everything was excellent. We saw lion, elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra - our game ranger was superb. We really had such a wonderful time and can’t wait to be back.
