My son and friends (students) stayed in Manyane the weekend of 22 April.

Late Saturday night they stepped out of the chalet to look at the stars - maybe 200m away from the chalet, when they returned maybe 20mins later, all their valuables were stolen - the chalet was not locked.

Laptops, cellphones wallets etc.

The help they received from the security and management was, to say the least, unsatisfactory.

The case was reported at Mogwase police station the next day - also very uncooperative.

Use it, don't use it - but Manyane won't see us again.

Regards

Pieter

The staff are very friendly, but unfortunately no one warned us of the spate of robberies experienced there recently. We had some items stolen from our campsite, and our tent zip was open. Our neighbour said someone was looking into their tent! As three women together we should have been warned of the thefts and told to camp further in for safety.
There was also very loud music coming from a nearby pub, very very loud. Sadly, we will not be back again. The facilities are great and the restaurant food was awesome. I sincerely hope they can sort out the thefts.

We made reservations for 3 nights mid-June 2022 for a "luxurious" chalet. Cost per night was $300 USD. We thought all was well until we were nearly at the "resort" and called to tell them we would arrive soon. The desk clerk told us that the reservation was only for one night. She said that all the chalets were fully booked. She then added that she would see what she could do. A few moments later she said that she found us a chalet for 3 nights.
When we arrived, none of the chalets were occupied. Only one other chalet ever had guests during our stay. This is what we found upon arriving at our "luxurious" chalet: The glass door entry latchplate was loose due to 3 of 4 screws missing. We found abundant mold in the small shower, a burned out shower light, a missing drain cover, several missing floor tiles and a loose faucet. The showerhead was installed at chest height for average adults. It sprayed in many directions. The linens had stains and an overall dingy yellow color.
The advertised cutlery was missing. It was about 50 F degrees inside the chalet. The mini split unit was not working properly. The first night the room never warmed above 60 degrees F. The following morning we toggled the circuit breaker which caused a shower of water to pour down onto the front entry door and mat. The old units ice up when running more than a few hours.
We attempted to call the front desk, but the room phone was out of order. We went to the office and requested that the latch and mini split unit be repaired and the cutlery and new light bulb be delivered. Two maintenance workers arrived to replace missing screws, but brought the wrong sized screws. They ended up cutting off the extra length on their second attempt to replace missing screws on the latchplate. They left the sharp edged screws exposed. They promised to return the next morning to smooth off the rough edges. We never saw them again.
Twin beds that could not be pushed together with old, saggy mattresses were provided. The advertised free Wifi was never available during our stay although routers were plainly visible on the chalet wall.
Restaurant lighting was poor. Several ceiling sockets were empty with loose hanging wires. The supper menu was misleading due to the majority of items not being available. The waiter began by telling us what they did not have instead of what they had. Tables were not set. Food was served cold. Staff appeared confused and not properly trained. There were several staff present, but only two actually helping customers. Supper cost was not included in room price.
Breakfast was adequate with two options of cold buffet or made to order hot dishes. Cost was included in the room price. Several of the outdoor dining table umbrellas were shredded. They appeared to have been in that condition for a long time.
We recommend that travelers stay elsewhere!

Upon arrival, there was no record of my booking for which I had a confirmation number and had paid a deposit. The resort was over-crowded, which, coupled with poorly demarcated sites made locating a site challenging. Shortage of braais for the number of camp sites. Hazardous electrical point boxes, daily blocked drains, leaking taps. Never had a single hot shower. Bathrooms not kept clean.

Generally very shabby and poorly maintained. Won’t be back.

We were in Manyane over Christmas, for a week...and it was shocking!!! Loud music day and night (entertainers around the pool area...seriously, u come to the bush for quiet & peace)!! Camp sites hectically dirty. Dustbins and braai areas not cleaned out everyday! Swimming pool drastically over-crowded and seriously dirty! Staff unfriendly and unhelpful. NO Stock in any of the shops...(cooldrinks, chips, ice-creams). Ablutions were very dirty, showers smelling of wee. Poo rubbed on the walls of the mens ablutions! The number of people per stand isn't monitored! The "no tents beyond this point" rule isn't enforced...people in tents stand where ever they want!! The monkeys and mongoose are a SERIOUS problem, they rip open your tents & come into ur camp site even while u are sitting there!!! The Staff at Manyane gate entrance to the park, are Especially rude & obnoxious - and they think they are doing you a favour! We rather drove to Kwa Maritane entrance and entered through there! We have been camping in Manyane for 15 years...and this is the WORST I have ever experienced it!!! Very Disappointed - Not value for your money & not run as a proper "bush" experience as in the Kruger National Park!!!

Maybe not a very good idea to go camping at Manyane or Bakgatla for the next couple of months. They are busy renovating the ablution blocks!!!!! Yes!!! You read it correctly! One of the ablutions at Bakgatla has been completed and all I can say is : WOW! It is going to make a big difference to these camps. Other than this, there are still plenty game viewing to be done, the Pilanesberg Centre is still on operation - good quality food, good prices and very good service! One really big problem is the monkeys and baboons in the camp. Really an annoyance! Do not leave any foods outside and drop your pop-up.

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights and we were very disappointed as the chalet did not resemble the advertised picture. As we had prepaid we were rather committed and had to make the best of our stay.We enjoyed our visit to the Pilansberg both on our own and with the Mankwe Game Rangers who were excellent and we saw a large variety of animals. We also had an “outage” a South African power cut and fortunately had torches but no one came to see if we were OK and never let us know the restaurant block was open.I would like to think that in high season the resort is a little more organized.

We were in Manyane second week of January, although we do a lot of camping on the tented side, we decided to try the chalets. Our chalet was very clean, aircon worked, but here and there need some maintenance work. For instance our freezer worked but the fridge remained warm. The pool on the chalet side nice and warm, just beware of the baboons sometimes in the changing rooms. Nice little play area for the kids. On the restaurant side, nice buffets, but the little shop are limited stock or no ice creams and cold drinks at all, and very expensive. Also beware of the water scorpions at the big pool.

We went to Manyane resort with family of ours for the weekend. Upon arrival we found no cutlery etc in the units. When we enquired about it we were told that they do not supply cutlery for the units and that we need to eat at the restaurant. We brought our own food and did not want to eat at the restaurant. When telling reception as much, we were told to get our own cutlery.
As far as the units go, they are small and shamefully run down. In our unit was broken cupboards, lights not working and no trash cans for our refuse. These units are also horribly overpriced. All and all, Manyane resort is not a place that I will visit again.

We have visited the resort on a number of occasions over the years. We were once again impressed with the clean and well maintained ablution facilities. The whole camp is well maintained. We had a great meal at the restaurant. Friendly staff. The amount of game seemed a bit down.

"Travel with kitchen essentials. Going into the bush you may not want TV channels. On our 1st night we had Mnet, but it disappeared at 6H30 on the second day and we never got it again. Nobody at the resort promotes the park - the guests are left to "drive and find". Both Imfolozi and Kruger promote their parks!"
