You will find more expensive lodges, and probably ones with fancier food. But there's something so fantastic about this place, and its mostly down to the atmosphere created by Petro and Hendrik. My final evening she gave us an impromptu fire-side lecture about the milky way as the southern stars slowly moved overhead and we nursed our after dinner drinks - as content as the well fed lions we could hear vocalising beyond the game fence - and the whole team that she leads in the lodge are capable, friendly and professional. The place is immaculately cleaned and the food is generous african old school...tho they were particularly accommodating for guests with dietary needs. Hendrik's game drives are the real highlight tho - his enthusiasm and good humour is infectious, and he seems to treat every drive like his first. We were dragged complaining from our beds brutally early one morning so we could have the perfect sunrise experience...and it was ! Then, before breakfast Hendrik had found us every single one of the 'Big 5'. I think he was more excited about that than we were. Just go!

I’ve just been to heaven. This is a place to come and remind yourself that there are still a few beautiful, tranquil places left to engage with nature, both animal and scenery. Truly soul cleansing. The lodge is run at a very high standard by Petro & Hendrik Nothing is too much trouble for them. Great food and hosts who are so knowledgeable. Hendrik took us out for afternoon and early morning game drives to see the wildlife on the reserve. His knowledge and passion for wildlife is extraordinary. We saw most of the big five plus many other interesting animals, birds and plants all in a stunning setting which added to the enjoyment of the stay. Of the many places I have visited on my fairly extensive travels, this is my definite favourite now. Something very spiritual happened to me on this visit. I will definitely be coming back.

We spent 2 days at Pilanesberg Private Lodge, and I wish that we had booked for a longer stay! Petro and Hendrik were gracious hosts, and went out of their way so accommodate our young children and elderly parents. The game drives were great, the food was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable and luxurious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The chef, Happy, makes a mean melktert! Even the rainy weather on the first day couldn’t spoil our quick getaway. Thanks again Deon, Petro and Hendrik.

We had 2 wonderful nights at PPL. From the welcome to the farewell we were wonderfully looked after and pampered from start to finish. The meals were absolutely quality - served in the evenings outside around the fire pit...very special. Petro and Hendrik are wonderful hosts, going out of their way to make your stay memorable. The food was amazing, the game drives excellent, the rooms very comfortable. We had a wonderful time with Deon, family and friends - really felt welcome and at home!!! The lodge is beautiful and the staff is very helpful and friendly!!

We had an amazing experience at Pilanesberg Private Lodge that just kept on exceeding our expectations. Petro and Henrick are wonderful hosts, going out of their way to make your stay simply delightful. We were really pampered from start to finish. The food was amazing, the game drives excellent, the rooms very comfortable and clean. And oh my, that outdoor shower!! Glorious! Henrick is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable game driver and thanks to him we felt so lucky that we spotted so many animals! I can't find enough superlatives to describe how much we enjoyed it! It was simply a magical 2-day stay. Thanks Petro and Henrick for making it so special!

Being in ZA on business trip we searched for quiet place to rest over the weekend. Worked out excellent! Pilanesberg P. Lodge is a great place to relax, get excited about wild life and listen to the nature while watching the sky in the middle of the night and tasting great African wine.

We spent our Easter weekend at this amazing place and it was truely an unforgettable experience. The setting and accommodation is magical. Special note to Petro and Hendrik who looked after us impeccably. Hendrick's ability to spot wildlife is truly a 6th sense! Our game drives were incredible and we even got to see two elephant bulls fight. For travellers interested to book, I would recommend booking directly with the venue. We booked with an agent who in turn used a tour operator and we realised afterwards that our rate was much higher than the rack rate.

While booking the Pilanesburg Private Lodge, little did we know it’s going to be an “adventurous” fun tour for our weekend stay booked with the property. We mentioned to Deon-The Hotel owner well in advance of our vegetarian dietary requirements who indeed took perfect action with the management of the hotel on our 3 course meal during our stay. Hendric, Petro & team went out of their way to ensure me and my family were extremely comfortable during the 2N/3D’s spent at the property and were a step ahead in understanding exactly our needs during the stay. The exceptional Game drives with Hendrix were wwwwaayyy Ahead of our expectations and having just come back from Aquila near Cape Town (which was ok!) can easily comment this is a reference point for us on Safaris going forward. Starting with the morning sun to look for the Big 5 in the reserve during an over 3 hour drive - is clearly a unique & unforgettable experience. We were super lucky to see the cheetahs and the lions just catch a fresh prey in the same drive along with the impalas, monkeys, giraffes and zebras. Having stayed in commercial properties and resorts forever, the hospitality extended by Petro and Hendric was comparable to the best in the industry. They literally look after their guests as family visiting them during your stay. Please keep up the EXCELLENT Standards and Hope to do the “walk” On my next visit!!!

Had an amazing couple of days here. Two of us had been to another lodge on Pilanesberg and two had never been. We had the whole place to ourselves which was an added bonus. Nothing was too much trouble and the game drives were terrific. Say plenty of large and small game and learnt a whole host of new things. So sorry they have had such a long drought, we wish them every chance of rain soon. We will be back for sure

Spent around 5 days at the lodge. Ranger & staff were excellent accommodating us in a hospitable and amicable way. Always there to help and very generous even when a mishap on our side happened regarding the booking they tried to offer the best solution for us. Great safari experience saw everything we wished for and more! They really went out of their way to make the experience outstanding and memorable. Looking very much forward to coming back! Therefore thanks again to Deon, Hendrik, Petra, Happy, Daniel, Matampele & Rebecca for doing an outstanding job!
