Located in the west side of the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, and only 33 km from Sun City, Black Rhino Game Lodge is the ideal location for a luxurious bushveld breakaway. The lodge is built in the midst of a Tamboti forest overlooking a waterhole bustling with bird and animal activity. On many occasions, the stillness of the night is broken by the roaring of lions. Once you are awakened with a hot cup of coffee, your host ranger will take you out on an exceptional game drive, taking you through the Black Rhino Reserve and into the unexplored valley of the Pilanesberg until you reach the 200 km network of Pilanesberg Park roads. The luxury suites are very private and equipped with a minibar, air-conditioner & tea and coffee making facilities. The patio doors open up into the bush, and if you look out quietly, you might spot a herd of impala or a lone elephant. The designer bathrooms feature your own private outside shower which is perfect to cool down on a hot day. A top-class chef caters for all your exquisite meals in an atmospheric restaurant. Both the bar and the restaurant lead to the viewing deck, ensuring you are always close to nature. Please be advised that the gate entry fees are not included in the rates. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon trip to South Africa and had a fantastic time. The room was lovely - very clean and comfortable, with enough privacy for a couples trip. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout. We also thoroughly enjoyed the game drives and managed to see the big 5 during out stay! Our guide, Freedom, was extremely knowledgable and great at spotting the various animals. We also really enjoyed the food available everyday - lots of variety and a good quantity. We would certainly recommend staying here - it really was a great experience!

Always lovely in the bush, and this concession is no different. The lodge, on the whole, is okay, and the rooms are good. Meals are very, very average in a large dining area with very bright lighting and a very poor wine list. Service is also not great. The game drives are good, but the connector road from the concession to the Pilansberg Game Park takes about 1 hour, is rushed and on a horrible road. Doing this gives you access to more game but minimal time on the Pilansberg side.

Great (and plentiful) food. Knowledgeable rangers with excellent game drive experiences for Pilanesburg. Generally friendly staff. Relaxing setting and excellent accommodation. Would recommend and stay again.

We stayed at the Black Rhino for 6 nights. Traveling from the UK with 2 small children and not wanting to travel too much, this place was incredible. Shorter family drives for the children was perfect as well as the longer drives in the morning or afternoon for us. But, with the watering hole right behind the restauarnt we could see so much without evening leaving the reserve. The pool area is also great. The staff were incredible, so friendly and accomodating to us as well as the children. The food was also so lovely and always something different and tasty. An amazing holiday we will never forget! I have recommended it to friends and family and hope to visit again one day.

A great getaway to go to. Easy 2.5 hour drive from Johannesburg. From the time of booking to the time that we left, staff and service was great. All meals were of a high standard. The staff catered to our dietary requirements with no problem. Game drive were great and informative. As advertised we were able to see the big 5, including a range of other game and birds. Only niggle was the room that we stayed in was tired and needed a make over. That aside a wonderfull experience.
