I visited Valley View this week for a 2 night stay on a "photo Safari" to the Pilanesberg. What a lovely surprise. It is a very simple clean unassuming place to stay. For those wanting a 5* experience then this is not for you.
The Italian gentlemen Michele who owns the B&B welcomed me personally & was really friendly & helpful throughout my stay. Breakfast is included & I paid extra for the 3 course dinner both nights. Michele is an ex Executive Chef from Sun City so the food prepared was terrific, tasty, but it is simple home made fare!
I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms which was simply furnished, air conditioned & clean. There is tea/coffee station, a small bar fridge, a TV & DSTV although I did not switch on so not sure what stations are available. Shampoo & shower gel in the shower. The bed was really comfy with super soft fluffy duvet & pillows. No wifi in the room but I believe there is in the public area near reception / dining room. Safe & secure parking.
The extra cost for going into the Pilanesberg National Park (+- 3km's away) each day was well worth it for the convenience of having my own air conditioned & comfy room with en suite bathroom. The alternative two resorts inside the park are very run down & quite a bit more expensive & the private lodges are in my opinion way too expensive.
All in all a great find & I will definitely be back!

I needed reasonably priced accommodation when taking a guest to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, North West Province, South Africa. Valley View Guest House fitted the requirement perfectly. Angela Colovita, daughter of owner Michele Colavita was very welcoming. The setting of this venue is just beautiful. The rooms are simple and comfortable, our dinner was excellent and after our early morning safari drive, breakfast was ready, freshly prepared for us. Good value, great service and gorgeous surroundings.

TRUST is a big value at the Valley View Guest House. The open bar is there for all guests, even after closing time, and you just note your consumptions in a small book for later payment: nice ! The rooms are nice although basic, but air conditioning is available. The clean pool and gym area complete the package as is the open kitchen which seems available for all guests. Cooking is like at home: good and inexpensive, as are the wines. I can recommend this place for all people that want to live close to Pilanesberg and the surrounding area. It is excellent value for reasonable money.

I have to say I did not feel anything like a guest at this establishment. The room I was given, no. 6 was like a detention barrack! It was bare and void of any creature comforts. The furniture was old and shoddy looking as we're the towels. There was no tea/coffee making facilities, no shampoo or bubble bath, no hair dryer. Very limited TV channels and a teeny tiny window that looked straight into a wall.... The name valley view is totally misleading! Old bed spread that looked it was from 2010 soccer world cup days! To top off this horrendous experience I was given a remote to let myself back onto the premises imagine my delight when I tried using it at 11pm at night and it did not work! To top it off try contacting the owners whoe cleArly nowhere to be found on the so- called listed emergency number on the card they give you...after sitting for 30mins outside in the freezing cold of 0 degrees Celsius did another guest finally arrive and I was able to get in. To date still no word of apology or form of goodwill extended by this incredibly unprofessionally and eneffieciently run establishment. Although I only stayed one night I most defintely will not be back! Bad bad bad....

The hotel is located in an area not everyone may feel comfortable in. It's hemmed in on all sides by residential houses.

It aims for a faux- Romanesque look that doesn't really work. It's hard to disguise an architecturally dull modern brick building as anything else.

The bed was acceptable. The bathroom dark and cold (it was May, which is winter here). Just a shower.

The TV was small. There was a TV lounge, but any more than 4 people would be a crowd.

The dining room was cosy but the food was disappointing. Perhaps when the owner cooks the story may be different.

About the only thing I can say about it is that if you want to be close to one of Pilanesburgs gates, without laying out large sums for accommodation, this will do. But keep your expectations low and then you wont be disappointed.

The staff were friendly..

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It's only a few minutes drive from the park entrance, lovely pool and really helpful staff. When we told them one morning we wouldn't need breakfast because we were leaving at 5am to get in the park early, they said no problem, what would we like, they would make a packed meal for us. When we left the next morning, there was the owner waiting for us with our freshly prepared breakfast. Completely recommend this place.

Great location, 5 minutes from the entrance gate to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve and good view out over the valley from the terrace to watch the spectacular lightning storms that frequnetly occur in this area in summer.
Our room was lovely, spacious and extremely clean. The air con worked well to cool the room at night.
The staff could not have been more helpful, arranging a take-away breakfast so that we could get up very early to get into the game reserve for dawn. Overall we found our stay here fantastic.

The Guest House's advert in Trip Advisor is totally inaccurate and misleading. It only describes and shows photos of the main building; yet not of a separate building located about 5 minutes away, which is where they send many guests.

We were among the unfortunate ones to be told, upon check-in, that there's no vacancy at the main site. Instead, we were given a room that is of the worst standard ever seen.

The carpet was wet from a leaking sliding door, so the room smelled very bad from mildew. We requested a room that didn't smell but were told the place was fully booked -- no apologies or sympathy shown at all by the staff, despite that we had children with us.

There was no running water when we arrived, so couldn't take showers before bedtime (which we needed to do because we had to leave the next morning before sunrise for a very early game drive); and clearly management was aware of this because they provided buckets of water in the bathroom to flush the toilet. In the morning, some water did eventually come out of the tap, but it was cold (no hot water at all).

There was also no internet in the room.

We paid around USD$170 for the night, despite this being of brothel quality! The place was a major rip-off and was not anything like the place that we expected, according to the booking made in Trip Advisor.

As much as we love going to Pilanesburg National Park, this last experience was the worst we ever had. (No) Thanks to Valley View Guest House. We should have realised how bad the staff is when we were trying to book a room for 3 people and they kept rudely telling us that it is not possible for 3 people to stay in 1 room. Although, we had offered to pay extra if they woul make this exception. In the end, we booked 2 separate rooms and arrived the accommodation.
On our arrival, we were not allowed to enter the property unless we have formally checked-in. So my husband had to park the car on the street, go inside by himself while me and my mother in law waited outside. The staff first could not find our reservation and mocked my husband for not giving correct details. Although he had told them the names correctly, but they were too arrogant to listen. Eventually, they found the reservation, made my husband fill out all the formalities, including the trivial details like what kind of breakfast we would like to have the next day and ignoring the fact that there are 2 guests waiting outside on the street. My husband requested several times that they should let me and my mother in law enter first and then all the details can be provided (by us). Pleas note that we had already paid 50% amount as deposit at the time of booking! But, they just would not let us in. In the end, after waiting on the street outside for 20 minutes, I forced myself in and asked what is the problem.; why cannot we come inside and then fill in the details? The lady (perhaps the manager) rudely told me that it is just easier for them it this way. Then she wanted to show us the room and property (without letting my mother in law first), I just lost it. After some yelling, the eventually let all of us in.

The rooms were not bad but there were no windows or any other outlet for air to come in. AC in both rooms did not work, although they were on but they just did not cool the room. It was like 35 degree, quite uncomfortable to sleep without a working AC or fan. In the end, we had to move the mattress on the floor, right under the AC so that we can get some air and sleep. Never before I had to sleep on the floor in an accommodation.

The entire stay was very awkward. For breakfast, the staff was again rude and unfriendly. Even asking for some jam for the toast upset them. We felt like the whole time like we are unwelcomed guests. We just did not understand what the problem was.

The only good thing about this place is its location. It is about 5 minutes drive away from one of the entrance of Pilanesburg, Manyene.

Our recommendation - It might be more pleasant to camp in Pilanesburg National Park with lions and elephants around. Don't stay at valley view. It will ruin your entire trip and mask your good safari memories.

Arrived at 743 Kwena Drive on Friday 29th with my husband and we were advised that we will be staying on another property but breakfast will be served at 743. Upon arrival at the house number 775 which was about 2km away from the originally booked house, we were shown through to Room 7. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in, the pillow was as flat that I literally used my own pillow which I had brought with me considering that I had travelled all the way from Durban. There was no complimentary soap, shampoo in the room or any tea/coffee facilities. It literally looked like brothel. When I opened my room window all I could see was a grape tree with bricks and sand for building and imagine that I had booked for 4 nights to be in this place. My husband was advised that with breakfast only tea and coffee is free, juice you have to purchase, we then decided we would not be having any meals in this place considering the admin involved in getting to the breakfast venue and the terms and conditions that go with it.

We checked in and went to have dinner in Sun City and came back late straight to bed, as I said the bed was so uncomfortable, I missed my bed. When I requested the iron the following morning I was shown into a laundry area where I should iron my clothes. I could not wait to get out of the place that by 08:00am my husband and I left to be with other family members who had booked at Sun City Vacation which by the way from this place to Sun City is a 20 minutes drive and driving at night roads are pitch black and both houses are deep inside the township and to open the gate you have to get out of the car so safety is an issue.

On the 30th, my husband and I came back around 1:00am, the guesthouse now had cars all over the driveway and our car was the last one. On top of coming back late, uncomfortable bed and pillow we got a knock at 07:00am to move our car for one of the guests to come out, saying I was pissed would be putting it mildly, we are not morning people this led us to decide that we are checking out of this place and not coming back. The lady who manages the place Tshidi did not even bother asking why we were checking out so early she just took the keys and said bye.

I would not recommend this place to anyone and will fight for my 2 nights refund. By the way the bath towels were not changed on the 29th we had to use the same towels used the evening of the 29th and morning of the 30th.
