Absolutely best ranger one could have. Extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and ensures guests have the best experience possible--without question Ella makes the experience complete and a true family experience for everyone! Lodging staff was courteous and made sure rooms were spotless, kitchen was clean, meal time was prepped to perfection.

Accommodations were spotless - furnishings were well kept. Outdoor sitting area was amazing and viewing lodge was perfect for the end of the day gathering with family. Definitely would recommend if you want to see wildlife by the best ranger in South Africa.

What a fantastic weekend, thank you Ella and Nkala Ldoge Team.
It was just the very best ‘home away from home’ in the bush experience. My husband was surprised for his 40th getaway birthday with all his closest friends and we so appreciated all the friendly service, cleanliness and educative game drives.
Caroline was the most amazing chef and treat to our weekend too.
We cant wait to visit again soon X

We have been back to Nkala Lodge several times because it is simply the best lodge and value for money out there! The staff are professional and accommodating, and the facilities are exceptional, with the smallest details being thought of and catered for. We brought our 1 year old daughter and the lodge was kind enough to supply a beautiful cot, baby products and even a kneeling pad for the bath. For game drives you are kitted with blankets, mugs for drinks, hot water bottles and ponchos. No luxury has been spared, and each enormous room is as stunning and breathtaking as the next. Bathrooms have instant heaters, exquisite products and are beautifully decorated.

Even the most critical person will find it hard to fault Nkala lodge. We just loved it and will go back time and again. I cannot recommend this lodge more and do so without any reservations.

We stayed on the lodge august 2021. The lodge itself and grounds are fantastic. Good condition inside and nothing looks tired or dated. It is well equipped to entertain and the viewing deck is wonderful. It was very clean in the rooms although the kitchen counter tops needed a wipe on arrival.

What no one has mentioned, and indeed was not mentioned to us until the week before arrival, is the presence of monkeys. Now we quite understand we are in the bush. However during our stay monkeys entered the property and ate our food. The ranger discovered this whilst we were out. She tidied up the mess and “cut off the eaten ends of cake” however for me, this was a problem. We were advised to keep doors closed to stop monkeys getting in, which we were vigilant about - but we were told they entered via an open window. No one in our small party recalls opening a window so not sure if housekeeping did, but either way they got in. We were told the main door does not lock and when I asked twice for a key, we were told by the ranger there was no key but not to worry as it was quite ok. The door opened very easily, and so it is quite possible they could have opened the door to gain access. Who knows. It doesn’t matter, to me the monkeys is something which needs addressing.

I would not have booked had I know the monkeys were such a problem. I expected to see monkeys - just not inside my kitchen eating my food

Perhaps the lodge could / should investigate ways to deter them ?? Perhaps put some insect screens up over windows or doors as back up measures to prevent access. I don’t know, it is a tough issue, but I do feel it needs some consideration. If there really is no “fix” then people should be made aware prior to booking.

If monkeys don’t worry you, I can say this is a fantastic spot. However, if, like me, you prefer wildlife to stay outside, then be aware this is a possible issue here.

We had a fantastic time at Nkala lodge. Everything was thought of and considered to make our stay as comfortable and luxurious as possible.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Stunning big bathrooms offering inside and outside showers to feel even closer to nature.

The game drives were exceptional and our ranger, Ella, extremely knowledgable about the wildlife. She did a lot of effort to make every ride memorable.
Furthermore, the staff at the lodge were always friendly and helpful. We booked Golden, the chef, to cook for us and his food was delicious.

I would highly recommend a break away at Nkala - a little oasis tucked away under the trees and amongst the bushes of Pilanesberg.

Stunning sightings shortly after arriving here. Absolutely amazing luxury in the bush. The attention to detail is visible from the moment you arrive. We have been spoiled by Lara, our most informative and friendly hostess and Game Ranger.
Highly recommended venue to experience the beauty of the South African bush.

Everything was perfect. The accommodation was outstanding: clean, roomy, very comfy beds, private. We booked the chef (Golden) and his assistant (Caroline) as an add-on because we were a large group and they were terrific! The food was amazing and I would definitely recommend them both! Oh, how could I forget the game rangers, Ella and Lara, they were amazing, very entertaining and extremely knowledgable about the land and all the animals. We were very lucky to see 4 of the big 5 in a matter of 2 days (only thing we didn’t see was the leopard). Also saw a hippo walking on the road, elephants playing in a deep pond, baby animals everywhere we looked, lots of white rhino and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We would go back in a heartbeat!
Thank you Nkala for making my 50th the most memorable birthday ever!

Nkala gives you access to spectacular natural beauty whilst catering to every comfort. This is a great combination of creation and design. Lodge is fitted with everything you need and a few things you'll realise you want at home too 🙂 .

Staff are friendly and ready help. They even washed our car (we didn't ask).

This is an easy place to relax, and offers much to enjoy.

The lodge itself is drop dead gorgeous. So tastefully done so that it feels lush but homely. Every meal was a talking point, prepared with effortlessness. Game viewing was excellent. Highly recommend this spot!

Nkala lodge was so much more than we expected. True luxury in the bush with a warm and attentive team who catered to our every need. Ella is an exceptional guide. Her experience of the bush and passion for the animals ensured the most incredible sightings including multiple cheetahs sightings and a kill, experiences that we will carry with us forever. And Golden, our chef, was a gastronomic genius! The watering hole on our doorstep made for fabulous close up viewing of cheetah, elephant, baboons, giraffe and many others. Overall, a truly exceptional experience.
