This lodge offers good lodging and excellent food. I stay here on average 1 week per month and is very satisfied. Stayed in another more expensive place in Mafikeng but still prefer the Buffalo. Have I said the food is excellent and the best in town!!!

We only went here for dinner. It's typical pub food so don't expect gormet restaurant cuisine. The food was good though. The portions were huge! The staff was really friendly and efficient. The pub and restaurant are joined together which creates a very festive atmosphere.

The breakfast menu does not change. You eat the same thing all week.
The hotel rooms are very small.
The TV is very small with limited TV cannels activated. It hurts the eye.
The shower is not spacious at all. When you shower, your elbows easily touch the walls of the shower and that is not nice.
The shower leaks water out as you shower, resulting in the floor being wet

We normally love the food here but for the first time we did not have a good experience. I really think the only reason was that the sauce was either off or not made correctly. We were so disappointed! My hubby ordered the sunset steak. Other than that the food was good.

A booking was made for 15:00 tomorrow, we asked if we could move it to 17:00. The owner never came back to me in time but her assistant phoned after business hours and told us that they can't accommodate us. I was taken aback that they took so long to give feedback and said that we would make alternate arrangements. Owner phoned me, scraming in anger and accused me of dropping the phone on her assistant whereafter she did the same!! I phoned her back and she continued screaming and said that she just did what I did (which I most definitely did not!). She claimed that they have been closing at 17:30 the past two years. My colleagues went to eat there not 3 weeks ago! I will do my best to tell colleagues not to support them any longer.

We went for my birthday dinner. I am not sure we will be back soon. Steak and salad was ordered. The lettuce leaves were black in the edges and some grey and old. It really did not look presentable. When we told the waitress she said she would report to manager. We didn’t hear anything back. Cafe latte was ordered and a half a cup was delivered. When we asked what happened were told ‘sorry’. The chips were really not fresh and mostly broken pieces like perhaps we got the bottom of the bag. Ordered an egg with steak and chips. When plate arrived there was no egg, we reminded waitress, she said it’s coming, well we ate the whole steak and it arrived after food was finished. Value for money definitely NOT! Service is still very delayed. Took almost an hour from order to delivery.

My first time to Mafikeng saw me staying in this little lodge. The town is small and slightly rural so the on-site restaurant is a bonus if you dont want to travel around looking for a good place to have dinner. The food is good and not over-priced. Staff is friendly and accommodating.
The rooms I stayed in was a bit small and the bath room decor is lacking but I suppose this lodge would be used as a stop-over rather than a holiday destination. There is safe parking on the premises but a bit cramped. The town is small enough for this place to be close to just about everything.
I would recommend reading up on the area before traveling here. There are some interesting facts and history about the town and it's surroundings. There is a fair amount of development in and around town. At the time of writing this review, the roads coming from the east and south-east are littered with road-works and irritating stop-and-go areas with waiting times up to half an hour per stop. If you HAVE to travel to Mafikeng, I would recommend staying at Buffalo Lodge.

We did not stay at the Lodge but were recommended to visit the restaurant for our evening meal. The food was excellent and the service was very good. The manager really keeps an eye on all that goes on and welcomed us back the second time we visited - even though it was two weeks later. Well worth a visit.

The place is ok with great people and the food potions are great as well though its mostly fast foods. I would recommend better television sets and to subscribe to more channels as well. I do not regret my stay there.
