The place needs a good spring clean and regular maintenance. It seems as though it was done up nicely a few years ago and nothing done to it since. I would also suggest new carpets or the current ones replaced with laminated or tile flooring. Bed was nice and firm, so we got a good night’s rest! Staff were friendly!!

Comfortable, clean, affordable and Johann was very helpful. I stayed here for a business trip and it was my first time to Mahikeng. The room had Wi-Fi which did not work early on Tuesday morning. The room had no hairdryer and only a fan. I knew it had no air conditioner beforehand as I had to pick accommodation which fell into the budget I was allowed as a contractor. Like I have found with most rooms the lighting (overhead and bedside lamps) was inadequate for reading.

There was no one at the reception and we had to for more than 10 minutes, the shower was not working properly and the aircon was not strong enough and the place is very hot. When we plugged the kettle electricity tripped and there was not phone in the room or someone working at the reception.

This place will make you pay for bed and breakfast and serve you oats, no DSTV, the bed is completely broken. You sleep on springs, the taps leak. It's just horrible. This area offers much better quality. I'm very disappointed.

Ferns is an old lodge that has lost owners. Reception not managed and you have to run around to get someone to assist you. The people are rude with no level of professionalism. Pools are dirty, trees not trimmed and the carpets are filthy. Restaurant tables are not cleaned and had to ask the kitchen staff to wipe the table on what looked like a week-long dirt. After 3 days, I've never seen the receptionist and it's the only way in or out. My colleagues had encounters with rats, the swimming pools are a health hazard (filthy). To top it all, I found my room as I left it and not cleaned (they did not have a spare key). The place is not even worth a single star. The pictures on the internet are not the reflection of the situation on the ground.

I stayed for 1 night in July 2019. On my arrival, there was a strong stinch of sewerage from the reception area.there was no blanket in the room & no phone so I couldn't contact the reception to ask for a blanket. The aircon wasn't working and the shower was dirty. I checked out first thing the next day as I couldn't handle the smell of sewerage. I WOULD never recommend this place to anyone or go back for a stay.

The room was set in the back of the property with very little light and ventilation (good thing the air conditioner worked). After a thunder storm none of the plug points worked so I requested another room. The second room was very nice but there was no water from the shower that night. Best thing I can say is that the receptionist was very helpful and friendly.

Wonderful service always ready to help. Staff is friendly and wonderful. Rooms are neat and tidy. This was our second stay and just as wonderful. Staff also go out of their way to be considerate......

Excellent value for money. Friendly staff and good wifi even in the rooms. They had a lovely swimming pool which i didn't use but it was clean. The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a bit of modernising but all in all it was good enough.
