During our annual family long weekend get together, we selected this lodge. The accommodation is warm and friendly with very clean wooden houses. There are a selection of accommodation and even a tree tent house for the youngsters. The garden is well decorated and give you a private feel . The owners are friendly and helpful. In general the lodge is close to the town centre and situated next to a canal surrounded by trees . We will definitely consider this lodge the next time when we visit Upington and exspecially with a family gathering. Cool.

A little gem. We only wanted coffee but the restaurant area is very pleasant. Looked at the rooms and they seem well appointed: bedroom en suite and equipped kitchen. Quite area but not far from a large shopping mall.

Lovely quiet corner in a Cul de Sac in suburban Upington 5 mins away from a shopping mall for convenience meals and goodies.
Chalets or rooms clean comfortable with en suite bathrooms and a communal swimming pool.
A real tropical Island atmosphere with palm trees, aviary for early morning birdsong, a boma for group braai (barbecue) or do it at your own chalet on the stoep.
Breakfast included but you can also do your own in the Chalets.
Spent a week there on business and didn't feel the usual "away from home" stress.
Will definitely stay there again and highly recommended.

Worst welcome I’ve ever had at a guesthouse/lodge! Made booking telephonically and confirmed with an email. Also went to the guesthouse to let them know we would check in late that night as I’m still awaiting my husband. On all 3 counts of interaction with the owner (wife), I stated that the room was for me and my husband. Upon arrival that night we were first asked if we were married before the owner (husband) allowed us in. They do NOT allow couples, not married, to share a room. This is not specified on their website. Apparently they must still add that detail on their website. Also upon arrival, we were informed that they do not allow any alcohol on their premise…again this was not on their website. The rooms however did have wineglasses and a corkscrew… I can however vouch that the room was neat and tidy...nice and quiet site but a site that I would not recommend to anyone. Cold welcoming and owners gave me a feeling that we were being judged the moment they saw us.

This is a value for money overnight lodge. Clean and neat with friendly staff. The animals add to the country feeling but having chickens under you window crowing from 3:30 until 6:00 in the morning resulted in a unpleasant evening night rest.

Country Lodge is always the place we stay at. The Lodge is clean and safe for parking. Beautiful garden! Die Afdak Coffee Shop makes the most delicious cappucinnos. The owners and staff are friendly and I highly recommend the lodge.

I have on several occasions made use of the Lodge as I travel for work to the area several times a year, the owners are very friendly and accommodating even when arriving at late hours. The facilities are clean and well maintained, and has a coffee shop for breakfast.

We popped in for a cappuccinno to see what it looked like. We sat outside whilst enjoying our drinks. The coffee shop inside has a cozy wood feel whilst outside the gardens give you a lush feeling and are well kept and manicured. It is one of those gems which we discovered in our trip through Upington.

We arrived at Upington in the dark having travelled from Namibia and found this absolute gem of a place by accident; we saw the 'Country Lodge' signs which were in view from a petrol station up the road.

Our hostess Nicolene, made us most welcome. We stayed in a smaller air-conditioned en-suite chalet for one night then moved to a chalet with a kitchen area for 3 nights whilst our vehicle was having its head gasket replaced.

The secure grounds and gardens are beautifully kept and give an "in the bush" feel with animal statues, cheetah and giraffe, lush vegetation and even a little splash pool with sun loungers.

The children friendly place seemed busy most of the time and had a wonderfully welcoming friendly feel to it. If you are passing through or visiting this area put the "Country Lodge" at the top of your list. There is also a coffee shop "Die Afdak" on site, that serves food and drink.

Visit their website for booking details...http://www.countrylodge.co.za/ you will be pleased with the rates.
