Tucked away behind the commercial buildings on this street, with large comfy rooms facing the garden and Oranje River. The automatic gate (tricky to spot) provides access and secure parking. Breakfast is good, staff is friendly and very serviceminded, rooms clean. Excellent stop-over.

We stayed in Aqua Viva on our way from Cape Town to The Kalahari. This is a very small guest house beautifully located on the banks of the Orange River. It lies in a surprising way just off one of the main streets in Upington. Once through its gates it is like an oasis.
We were welcomed by one of the owners.
We were a group of 6, including 3 children. We had 2 rooms: one large fairly basic family unit located at the rear of the property, one nice twin room overlooking the river.
We choose to have dinner in the guest house (much easier than searching for a restaurant), this was cooked by one of the owners, obviously a set meal but was enjoyed by everyone. (Unlicensed, but easy to go to nearby super market for a bottle of wine). Breakfast was fine, usual fruit, yoghurt, cereal and cooked choices.
I would certainly recommend Aqua Viva to anyone passing through Upington although if possible go for one of the river facing units.

Great place for a short stay in the centre of Springbok. Roomspacious and clean. Great breakfast to start the day. Host friendly and helpful. Only negative is finding the place as the entrance is next to the hotel and accommodation at the back. But the view is good once you get there.

Upington has a substantial number of accommodation options to choose from and in many cases the quality can be disappointing as they do not live up to their claims but not in this instance. This guest house offers a touch of class as far as mid range accommodation options go. The rooms are very spacious and equipped with a small fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom is airy and modern. Although it is located close to the main road, traffic is not an issue as the peak hour is over in a flash and you can enjoy absolute peace overlooking the scenic Orange River from your stoep. There are several restaurants within walking distance. A substantial and delicious breakfast is provided by friendly staff. This establishment provided an overall positive experience in accommodation.

Lovely little place on the Orange River, beautiful reprieve after a long hot drive from Namibia. Highly recommend, we will definitely be back. The view from our room was calming and beautiful, we forgot we were in the middle of the town.

This is a very nice B&B in a beautiful location overlooking the Orange river. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are very big and quiet, beds are very comfortable. Great breakfast.

Very homey place, despite the entrance way in a busy downtown setting.
It is clean, spacious and comfortable.
The meals, if you chose to ask for extra, are very generous and very tasty.
The tv is tiny...if you choose to put a tv in the room, please make it big enough to see.
The property is lovely, and would really benefit from a small plunge pool or the like, to offset a warm day.
Would certainly return...it was a very nice place to stay..

If you're allocated Room 6 avoid. It's like entering a prison, mesh gates, peeling ceiling panels, chipped units, stained carpets, dirty surfaces, mixed aromas of nothing pleasant. The "bathroom" was one where you probably needed a shower after to stepped out. In all my years of travelling, particularly in SA I have never experienced a room like we were allocated.

We had 2 nights in Aqua Viva. Everything in the accomodation was wonderful, but we really did`nt like Upington. We would recommend this place for all people who need a peaceful stop on their way, but not for a longer stay in this town.
