This is a small lodge. Well appointed spotless chalets or camping. Swimming pool and kids play area. Ablutions are spotless. Reasonably priced. Well worth a stop heading for Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Highly recommend. Small kiosk too.

On our way to view the flowers in Namaqualand during August/September we spent two nights at this caravan site. What a pleasure! Besides being out of town, having a lovely view and with springbok grazing around us, the welcome was lovely, the sites and ablutions were spotless and in good working order, as was the braai. Most of the sites have good shade and each one has a light at the braai. As we are new to camping and this was our second venue it was a wonderful introduction to this sort of holiday.

We slept at Kalahari Monate on our way to Kgalagadi and back. The reception was very friendly and the rooms clean, neat and well equiped. With the springbuck walking around, it gives the feel of nature. This place is a good choice for a stopover to Kgalagadi or to Namibia.

We camped here on the way to Kgalagadi. We did not book ahead and when we arrived there was no-one there, but phoned the cell no. The lady arrived within minutes.
We were three couples each camping. The ablutions were spotless and the wash up area aswell. Lots of hot water. The grass was neatly cut and there were trees for shaded parking.
Bonus was the springbok grazing around, the abundance of birds and the old tortoise that came to visit. Price was extremely reasonable, it also has chalets but we did not use these facilities.

We have used Kalahari Monate 3 times and each time were very satisfied with the quality and friendliness we experienced. The chalets are very comfortable and well appointed. Watch out for the black Springbok.

Camped there for one night on our way to Kgalagadi in June 2015. Clean ablutions and beautiful surroundings. Springbuck grazed next to campsite with beautiful sunset.
We felt safe, which is the most important thing on a camping trip. Will definitely return.

Well kept and clean ablutions for campers. Friendly, warm, reseption. We used Kalahari Monate as stop over to and from the Kgalagadi. Uppington is near enough to do our shopping after we unhooked the caravan. Peaseful campsite with level sites.

Situated 10km north of Upington on the Askam road to the Kgalagadi. Entrance gate right on the road. Late afternoon motorbikes racing along could be heard but no road noise at night. Spotless and neat and well equipped. Thatched roof chalet with wooden beams in the style of Sanparks chalets. We paid R770/chalet for 2 people at the end of August on our way back home from Mata Mata in the Kgalagadi. Outside area around braai in need of a touch-up but very good value for money inside. Friendly reception lady.

We stayed in the chalet accommodation. Thanks to the consideration of the kind and friendly owner, we had two adjoining units. The units were reasonably well equipped for a self catering stay. Everything was clean, apart from the braai grid, for which I had to spend an hour of scrubbing in order to make it usable.
We were warm enough, despite the winter chill, thanks to the cosy bedding. There was air conditioning in the two units, but only one had a "warm" option.
Take note that one can hear EVERYTHING going on in the adjoining unit, whether it is conversation, snoring or whatever.
The campsite was peaceful, with some springbok roaming freely. The night sky was very clear, and only slightly impacted by the lights of Upington at 13km from the site. However, despite the address of the site, it is important to highlight that there is no affiliation with the nature reserve across the road, so no opportunity for one to visit there for game viewing.
In summary, this is a clean and peaceful site well suited to travellers on their way to or back from Namibia or the Kalahari. We used it as a base to explore the Green Kalahari area for a day or so. It is only a campsite though, not a reserve, and try to avoid having noisy neighbours.

When we were there they did not charge an entrance fee. One paid to camp or the Lodge fee. You can find their web site on line to check the latest prices. Regards Sandy
