The setting on the river is unbeatable, lovely garden too. Very welcoming hosts that go to great lengths to make you feel at home. We had two cats with us and they placed cat toys in the room as a welcome gift. ❤️ The breakfast too unbeatable. Best eggs fried to taste I have had in a long time, bacon and sausage. Yum. Good coffee. The bed was firm without being hard and I appreciated that. Lovely sheets and towels. Comfortable pillows. Aircon worked well keeping the room cool on the hottest summer days. The rooms are quiet. And feel like a private haven. A good deal of careful thought in selecting tasteful indoor decor that also provides comfort. I like the Persian rugs set off against wood floors. The old style wood wardrobes. The staff are all winners. Very friendly and polite, but only when you need them, otherwise they fade in the facade so you don’t notice their presence overly. Just right. I love their friendly laughter at the opportune moments. Down to earth and natural but still within perfect professional service. I can not find fault and highly recommend. I hope to visit again soon.

What an absolute delight to stay over at Waterfront Guest Farm on our way home from our trip to the Richtersveld! Jasper, Brunhilde and their very friendly & efficient staff went out of their way to make a our stay memorable. We were a group of 8 and were treated to the most delicious 3-course dinner - from the biltong soup to the oxtail, chicken pie, pumpkin muffins, the wonderful Waterfront salad - each dish was mouthwatering. Comfortable rooms and lovely detail in each room. After a delicious breakfast, we left with plans to definitely sleep over again when on a future trip. Having stayed in Upington on previous occasions at different guesthouses, this is definitely our top choice!

Originally we booked a night at Riverplace but they overbooked and moved us to Waterfront guesthouse. We couldn't be more happy about this! Brunhilde and Jasper (managers) made us feel exceptional welcome. They offered to drive us to and pick us up from a restaurant and they even came pick us up with 2 persons after wine tasting (so we didn't have to drive ourselves). They took us on a afternoon boat trip and made us an exceptional good steak after. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

Of course the fact that the guestfarm is situated right next to the Orange River is a major plus. Lovely settled garden, just a pity the pool wasn't filled and clean as advertised, not that I would've swam due to the cold weather. The breakfast was delicious and very difficult to beat. The room was clean and everything I needed was available. The bed was very comfortable so I slept well. This guestfarm is away from the busy city so it's nice and private. The only negative I encountered was due to other guests making a noise but I suppose it's to be expected.

Be sure not to miss this little gem in the dessert. It's perfectly located on the Orange river with fun water activities, beautiful and clean rooms, amazingly friendly staff and a warm and hearty welcome by the hosts Jasper and Bruhilde.
Even the dog Bischop will come say hi.
Spend the lazy looonnggg summer evening on the cool banks of the river under big shady trees and cool off either in the swimming pool or take a plunge in the river.
Enjoy a glass of wine as you feast your eyes on the magnificence of the sunset - you will see why it's called the 'orange river'.
Breakfast is nice and early and you'll be on the road again, well rested, feeling like you're saying farewell to old friends.

Waterfront Guest farm is a little piece of tranquility on the banks of the Gariep (Orange) River in Upington. The ideal stop-over spot en route to/from the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. We have visited twice and each time made to feel like friends by the delightful owners - the second time we were even treated to a wonderful sundowner cruise on the river with Brunhilda and Jasper. Dinners which can be arranged are tasty home cooked fare and they are more than accomodating to dietary restrictions such as mine. The rooms are tastefully decorated, warm and comfortable. We will definitely be back!

We originally had booked somewhere else but when we arrived they were full and could not find our booking. They sent us to the Waterfront Guest Farm and we couldn't have been happier.

Nice location on the riverbank with a great pool area, rooms were good with AC and we had a large cooked breakfast in the morning. The owner couldn't have been more helpful, she even drove us into town for dinner and came back later to pick us up.

We sepnt the night here on our way to the Kgalagadi from Johannesburg, and again on the way back, as it takes a while to get from MataMata camp and out of the park. So we had two bites of the cherry and were very happy on both occasions. The setting, right on the banks of the Orange River, is very tranquil, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the honesty bar where you can help yourself to drinks made it ideal for a quick beer after our travels and then a more serious drink before going out to dinner. The morning breakfast is excellent--a full array of cereals, juice, fruit, etc and then a cooked breakfast made to order. The facility is on the older side and the rooms are not spanking new, but they were very well equipped with tea/coffee making facilitires, fridge, mini bar and some really charmng decorative touches which show that they are really attentive to making one's stay as pleasant as possible. As we were picking up our 4 by 4 vehicle n Upington they were very happy to look after our car while we were at the national park. So all in all it was a delightful experience and our hostess, Brunhilde Louw, was helpful, informative, and friendly while letting us relax and do our own thing without intrusion--that is quite a skill in B&B faciities, in my opinion.

Based ourselves here whilst exploring the local area and before heading up to the Kgalagadi. The hosts and all the staff are super friendly and did everything they could to make sure our stay was enjoyable - as well as some really good advice before we headed up to the park! The accommodation is in a lovely setting right on the river and its tranquil and quiet. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed, bathrooms on the tired side but none the less clean and functional. The guest house works an honesty bar system so there's always a cold drink available when you need one and the breakfast is a mixture of self serve and a hot order from the kitchen, made even nicer by Bianca hosting of a morning!
There is a nice pool to dip in after a hot day of sight seeing and if you fancy it even the river can make a good place for a long swim!
You'll need a car however Upington itself isn't great for restaurant choices so there is the option to take a dinner order in the house or the Mall is local and has the usual chains. There is enough selection if you are only visiting for a few days.
If you do venture out of a night, pay extra attention on the gravel road back into the farm as we spotted Porcupines one night!
Would def stay again if we were in the area!

We drove in from Kgalagadi Park hot and dusty and found an oasis in this guesthouse. The check in was smooth even though I needed to make last minute room changes. Staff were very accommodating and professional.
We relaxed on the patio drinking tea and taking the fabulous views. A swim in the pool, a lounge with a book under the trees made a perfect afternoon.
For dinner they recommended we visit Cafe Zest in town which was an excellent choice.
Breakfast had a good variety of food.
I love to walk and was able to stroll around the neighbourhood in the late afternoon and early morning.
I would highly recommend this guesthouse.

Jill
