We got secured parking for our car. The facility has a nice swimming pool and yard with a private view over the river, which we already enjoyed the first evening after we had arrived.

The room we had the second night of our stay (Deluxe room) was recently renovated and had a nice jacuzzi bath/shower in it. We also got a bottle of CJ le Roux to enjoy while soaking in the jacuzzi. It was really nice. The staff was extremely helpful and sorted out the problem with out booking (see below for details about that) and ensured we enjoyed the rest of our stay.

We also could enjoyed breakfast on both mornings before continuing our journey. It is also close to the Red Ox restaurant if you prefer to go there.
Unfortunately the guest house is in the center of the town, which like so many other towns in South Africa is not always clean. So, even though we went for a walk, I would not recommend it. The guesthouse is safely surrounded by electrical fence and we got a remote for the front gate.

Our biggest problem was with our booking. A wrong room was allocated to us (Double Room with Spa Bath) which looks old. We notified the staff about it. They discovered that it was a problem on the side of booking.com as their rooms were not mapped correctly on booking.com. The 'Deluxe room' we booked (and which is more expensive) is up as the 'Double Room with Spa Bath' on booking.com. Due to our complaint it was corrected and we were able to move to our preferred room for the second night. Even though we did not originally book breakfast, we got that and other treats added for free.

We stayed twice in Moon River Guest House on our way to see the flowers and on our return. Situated on the banks of the Orange River just off the N14 we can only recommend it to all. We had a good breakfast and and a 5 star dinner. The room was comfortable and we had safe parking for our car.

It was 40 degrees when we arrived. Aircons worked room was neat and clean. Noise levels were manageable with other guests with younger children. All in all it was fine for a stopover enroute to Namibia but not for much longer than that.

We used Moon River as an overnight stop en route to Namakwaland. Great service and were accommodated in a room with easy access to the yard for our little dogs. We ordered dinner which was ready on arrival - a generous portion and tastefully prepared. A good breakfast was served before we left. I will recommend this to anyone traveling through Upington.

The breakfasts are wonderful with a selection of cereals, good coffee and hot options. Our room was comfortable with a well stocked mini bar. The bathroom is out of this world with the biggest jacuzzi tub I've ever seen! The hosts own a variety of exotic animals and birds which make the garden experience lovely. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, sorting out our parking and making our stay very pleasant.

In comparison to what was portrayed on the website, the accommodation was terrible. Pictures on website are misleading. Room was terrible. Bedding was dirty. Fridge was noisy. Bed was unstable and made a squeaky noise every time you turned. Room was so small, there was no bedside table. Manager on duty wasn't paying attention at all and was just walking around unshaven and with a cigarette hanging from the lips. When this was brought to the attention of the owner, no compensation as offered in return.

Lovely location, very smart, but lack of hot water casually blamed on 5 people showering at the same time. The vanity lights in our bathroom had no globes. Breakfast not 4 star quality: no fresh juice and no choice of hot (?) food, every patron has to take what's presented. Although our stay was pleasant, generally not 4 star attention.

Nice on website but we were put into a brand "new" property added to their accomodation. It was not really setup yet for guesthouse. While a nice property it was very old. The family room had OK bedding, but bathroom was ill designed and it lacked a private toilet. Toilet was also difficult to access.

Noise from other guest in house was easily heard.

Breakfast was bad.

Staff at house was nice and friendly and judging from their main property it would have been very nice to stay there rather. What irked us a bit that this particular property was very bad value for money. If they put is in main (advertised) property then it would have been fine.
