Of all the hotels in Budler Street this one has the loveliest garden - a real paradise after a long drive from Kgalagadi National Park. It is located on the river, has a pool, is kept with love and care and just the place one needs after the desert. The twin room we had was comfortable and hospitable, and the B&B owners are very friendly.

We were in between flying home from a 2 week trip in the Northern Cape of South Africa and needed somewhere nice to stay, coming from the Kgalagadi and flying out of Kimberley the next day. This place was perfect. Super clean and comfortable beds with an amazing view of the river outside. I just wish we had a little more time to enjoy the B&B. Breakfast in the morning before driving to Kimberley was perfect. Our dinner at Le Must was fantastic and Anneke couldn't have been more helpful with reservations and directions out of town the next day.

Beautiful gardens, breakfast was fabulous, great service. I liked the little dogs, but they don't leave you alone, so don't stay here if you are allergic or don't like dogs coming up to you when you are enjoying the garden. The owner offered to book us a reservation at Le Must restaurant, and we were so glad we did. It was a fabulous dinner for very reasonable cost.

My husband and I travelled from Windhoek to Upington en route to the eastern Cape - a long journey of 2000 km which had to be done in two days, with Upington as a stop over. When we made our booking at this B & B we asked the proprietor if she accepted dogs. She asked the size of our 2 canine companions ( medium sized, extremely well-trained) and were told that they would be more than welcome. On our arrival however she acted surprised to see us ( we sent 3 sms's en route informing her of our eto but she did not reply) and said that the dogs were not welcome as they may fight with her dogs and ruin her garden. An extremely awkward situation arose. One of her dogs was very aggressive - both towards us and our dogs. She tried to change our booking by putting us up in a B & B next door - one that was neither as comfortable nor as clean. We refused saying that she had agreed to the booking and she eventually gave in. The proprietor went out soon after we settled into the room - leaving her animal locked in the house. It yapped and howled for the entire period while she was out and we were unable to sleep until her return several hours later. Our sleep was further disturbed by the fridge in our room ( old and very noisy) and a very noisy air conditioner ( essential in Upington). This B& B has a beautiful setting and the proprietors garden is indeed exquisite. Her attitude and general demeanour however made this a most unpleasant stay. This establishment is one of several B & Bs in Budler street ( all with river front views) and we were grateful to locate a much more reasonable and friendly establishment for our return trip a week later - just a few doors down.

We spent one night in Uppington at Anneke's lovely B&B. What a beautiful garden perfectly located on the banks of the Orange River - a real treat for bird enthusiasts like myself. A very special place and a lovely host who made us a fantastic breakfast in the morning.

Anneke was a wonderful host who looked after my folks and I so well. We stayed in her garden cottage for one night and were not disappointed. The rooms, although small, are quaint and very comfortable. Trust me, when you see how beautiful her garden is and that magnificent view of the Orange River, you won't spend much time in the room, only to sleep!! The breakfast she served the following morning was world class. We would not stay anywhere else when we return to Upington.

Anneke Malan is a most gracious hostess who goes out of her way to make guests comfortable.
The garden is stunning, and the view of the Orange River that runs past the bottom of the property is truly lovely.
Our breakfast was most enjoyable and our room very comfortable.

A very comfortable bed and breakfast in Upington, with a gorgeous garden and stunning view of the Orange River. Breakfast (with interesting local jams included) was lovely. Anneke - the owner and host - is delightful.

We have stayed at A Riviera every year since 2010 while on our way to Kgalagadi. Every time we have had excellent rooms and friendly service. No complaints whatsoever. We are returning again this year.
