Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the Oleander for 7 nights in January in the Old Coal Shed (room 10) which is one of four rooms on the deck overlooking the pool.
We would thoroughly recommend the Oleander if you are staying in Kimberley. The employees are friendly and helpful, we never felt unsafe and the main house itself is beautiful.
Whilst our bedroom probably wasn’t as large as some in the main house, it had everything you needed including complimentary tea, coffee, nice toiletries in the bathroom, shower and bathtub and well stocked honesty fridge and we particularly loved, and took advantage of, the proximity to the pool and covered seating area.
The choice of freshly cooked items at breakfast was excellent although the buffet item choice was limited. We also had a couple of evening meals which were of a high standard too.
Overall, we were so glad we choose the Oleander over the larger chain hotel options.

The overall experience was very pleasant the only drawback for me is the breakfast and supper. The portions we received were for supper were ridiculously small to the point where we had to go get takeaways afterwards and the breakfasts for me are not up to the standards of most guest houses . But these two drawbacks will in no way deter me from staying there again . Oleander guesthouse irates for me in the top 3 best guest houses in Kimberly

A superb guest house. Rooms are tastefully decorated, all amenities are top range many items in fridge are complimentary.
Bed, bedding linen and towels were excellent, our room faced the swimming pool with outside seating and table, allowing for a quite peaceful night's sleep.
Food and service in the restaurant was nothing other than delightful. The whole experience was first class.

In the recent past, travel and entertainment has been somewhat restricted due to various medical issues, primarily related to COVID. So going on a research trip around the country was a much looked forward to event, and it allowed me to visit new places and eat in new establishments.
We were booked into Oleander Guest House in Kimberley for 2 nights. We arrived at the accommodation around lunchtime, which allowed us to unpack the vehicle and get ready for our first appointment at 14:00. We were welcomed with warmth and shown to our room. The property is an older property, I suspect Edwardian and has a large wide verandah at the entrance. The building has the high ceilings which are usually associated with older houses. The room we were allocated was very comfortable and spacious and had the right kind of facilities expected of an upmarket accommodation venue. Space to work for a laptop, in room fridge and tea/coffee facilities and a spacious king sized bed. The room and furnishing are generous. The staff at the guest house were very welcoming and we enquired about the menu in the attached restaurant. My wife being a pescatarian, we tend to be very selective about where we eat. The menu is probably more suited to carnivores although there was a “VEGETARIAN” option which did not appeal, being pasts based. The accommodation can only be described as luxurious and for the cold Kimberley nights in winter, the electric blanket was a welcome addition. The supplied breakfast was excellent and generous and when given fairly specific instruction as to breakfast requirements, they were more than accommodating.
All in all I can say that I would recommend this establishment to anyone who is visiting Kimberley and requires above average accommodation. If we have the n3eed to return to Kimberley in the future, this would undoubtedly be our first choice.

I had a wonderful stay. Everyone was so attentive, the food was out of this world and I had a peaceful nights rest. So pleased that Oleander Guest House was open and operating and I was able to stay over on my way from Johannesburg back to Cape Town. The Guest House really is a hidden gem in Kimberley, whether you are staying for one night or spending some time in the area. The staff will look after you, the beautiful pool offers a cool swim on hot afternoon and a great selection of sun-downers can be enjoyed in the garden. Dinner in the restaurant is a real treat and not to be missed. I can recommend Oleander Guest House for both business and leisure stays.

Absolutely superb, will definitely be back. The room was beautiful, spacious, quiet, and very private with every detail catered for. The onsite restaurant had a good menu to select from and the food was of excellent quality and well priced.

What a superb establishment! This is what you call a 5Star Boutique Hotel - not just a 5star Guest House. The staff are well trained and friendly, the accommodation was old time fashionable and luxurious. The food at the in-house restaurant was very good and the wine and drinks on offer will satisfy any guest. If you are visiting Kimberley stay here, and if you are travelling to and from the Western Cape make this your new stay over.

Very friendly, efficient and helpful staf. Good food served in the restaurant. Room was comfortable and the pool was a pleasure. The only problem was that I had to keep the room door closed because of the location of the smoking area and could therefore not fully enjoy the view of the pool. The problem with the airconditioner was sorted out the same day I reported it. Overall it was apleasant stay and I will definately recommend it.

A stopover in the historic town of Kimberly was made perfect by our stay at Oleander Guest House. Having never visited the town before, we were nervous about what to expect but the guest house was charming, lovely and so well maintained that it made us able to relax. The staff are thoughtful and attentive. We used the adjoining rooms because of traveling with children and it was hassle free.
