In 3000 hectares of unspoilt savannah thornveld close to Kimberley. All facilities are all fully equipped for self-catering purposes. Meals can be catered for on request. The area is well known amongst bird lovers and a wide variety of bird life, including birds endemic to the area, can be spotted here. 4x4 game drives are hugely rewarding with large herds of indigenous antelope in their natural habitat and enjoy a delicious buffet style breakfast in the bush.
We stayed a week in this lovely place. We had our own cottage, which was very spacious with good beds and a good airco. All the staff are amazing, we felt really at home. Food was excellent and served with a smile. We did 7 night safari and saw Aardvark 6 times. There are many nocturnal animals to beset: Aardwolf, Porcupine, Spring Hare and Owls. Do not forget to join the Sengi safari. It is really really nice. Thank you Marrick Safari for a wonderful experience!!

The main reason to visit is the wonderful animals on their night drives. We went out two nights and saw Aardwolf (!), Aardvark, Porcupine, and Springhare. The tall grass prevented us from seeing African Wild Cat, or Black-footed Cat (seen those in previous winters with shorter grass). Their vehicles are uncomfortable (you have to keep you feet on a support rod to prevent yourself from falling into the truck bed), but the driver and guide are very familiar with the location of the animals and tailored our drive for the animals we wanted to see. The lodging was roomy and clean, but dated. Unfortunately, there nothing worked during load-shedding, so it is good we had (and could find) our own flashlights.

It was our second stay at Marrick (first was in april 2021). This time we spent 2 nights in a cottage : huge accommodation, with all amenities, comfortable beds and open area. Quiet and clean. The other positive aspect is that you can walk around and enjoy the bush, looking for rare antilops like roan.. BUT paying R3400 for 2 for a 2 hours night drive is more than pricy especially during the rainy season where sightings are very scarce. We saw amost nothing due to tall grasses. To be compared a 2.5h sunset drive at Nossob in the Kgalagadi park costs R75 pp. This is a point to think about. So we'v' been less enthusistic than after our first visist.

I have recently spent four nights at Marrick Safari and this was possibly the top highlight of a long trip through South Africa. Every night I joined the night game drives that Marrick Safari is so famous for and had incredible sightings of Aardvark, Aardwolf, Bat-eared Fox, Cape Porcupine, Small-spotted Genet, Wild Cat, Black-footed Cat and many more mammals. The guides there are outstanding and very experienced. They truly go out of their way to help you spot as many animals as possible. These are some of the best night drives in the world. Marrick is also an outstanding place for birding and bird photography. It has numerous stations with water tanks where you can just wait for unbelievably colorful waxbills, whydahs and starlings to show up. The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious. It's a very peaceful place where you can just relax and enjoy the nature. Last but not least, one thing that really set Marrick apart was its incredible hosts. Trevor and Hubre run this family business and they make you feel at home from day one. It was very nice and interesting to talk to them every day over dinner. They really try to make sure you have as nice an experience as possible. I hope to return to Marrick one day!…

Staying in the Owlbox for two nights was absolutely one of the highlights of our roadtrip through SA. We could see wildlife from our bed and walk in whichever direction we wanted. We saw a plethora of species, during the day but also during the very professional night drive (aardvark, bat eared fox, aardwolf, black-footed cat, African wildcat, springhares ...). We felt completely at ease and close to nature. Very kind and helpful owners. Would highly recommend staying here!

I stayed for 3 nights at Marrick Safari. I would highly recommend Marrick safari if you are looking for aardvark, aardwolf and other nocturnal animals. The people are friendly, the guides have eagle eyes and the food was delicious. Thanks to everyone who made my trip so special and spoiled me with their hospitality. Special thanks to Norman, Riccardo, our driver, Mike the manager, the ladies in the kitchen as well as the chefs and the owners. Will be back soon.

I stayed here for four nights with four friends of mine. We managed to see two different aardvarks and four aardwolves on night drives. This is truly exceptional. It is also a good place for birdwatching. I have to say that the quality was excellent. Everything was so fresh and made to order. The portions were also large. The tapioca pudding was particularly memorable. The wine was also excellent. The rooms were all decorated differently. They each had their own particular character. The staff was quite helpful.

If you want reasonably priced homely accommodation with a personal touch and lots of privacy this is a good place to visit. The accommodation is more like a homestead than a lodge and the family and staff were really extremely accommodating. Simply put, they care. If you looking for brand new everything and flashy then this property might not be for you but if you want an idea of life in the country and you want down to earth unpretentious staff then you will love it. My reason for visiting was to see, photograph and take video clips of a few nocturnal and shy species, namely the Elephant Shrew, Black-footed cat, Aardwolf and Aardvark (Antbear). All were seen and a few were photographed/filmed. My 6 nights was over too quickly and if I was not so obsessed with photography I would have loved to read a book in one of the rocking chairs of the veranda. Food was good with generous portions. I will return.…

We booked Marrick Safari for one night on our way back from Cape Town and wish that we could have stayed longer. We were received warmly by Trevor and his family (with old style South African hospitality). We did a night drive and without doubt it was the best night drive that we have ever done. We saw aardvark, hedge hog, striped pole cat, porcupine, African wildcat and so many other special night creatures. John and Ben were excellent guides and really knowledgeable. We arranged dinner and breakfast and the food was delicious, home style, South African fare. We stayed in Guinea fowl cottage which has three bedrooms with a shared kitchen. We were the only guests. It is basic with comfortable beds and a hot shower. We so enjoyed our stay that we have already booked a return visit in March!…

On a whim and recommendation, I began my reservations for Marrick Safari. I knew immediately that I had made a perfect decision . Immediate response with honest suggestions and agenda choices was far above the services offered by the norm of the industry . I am a solo traveler who seeks strange mammals and birds and have traveled the world for over 25 years. I have stayed in many 5 star facilities and eaten at top gourmet restaurants . Never before have I been afforded the quality and hospitality that Marrick Safari offered me. Trevor and Hubre Datnow were the best hosts ever. The best part of Marrick Safari is her soul. The spirituality of Mother Nature embraced my being. The game drives, both day and night exceeded all expectations. Kevin, aka, Johnny was knowledgeable and his eyes could see an African wild Cat before a light produced eye shine. Aardvark was my primary target. I saw within 45 minutes on my first night drive my first one. During my stay I saw at least 7.Aardwolf, porcupines, Bat- eared foxes, springhares, on of my favorite, Scrub Hares, Cape Hares, Smith's Rock Rabbit, Black footed cats, mating during my night at the bush camp. Fabulous antelopes playing during the day and so much more to see . Marrick Safari far exceeded any expectations I highly recommend it to those who seek peace ,a cathartic personal mind healing, or those like me who wish to see God's bounty of life. I am looking to return, hopefully, many times over. Do yourself a favor and visit MARRICK SAFARI!…
