Unfortunately from the moment we walked in the door White River Lodge gave the impression of being rather dated which could be given a significant lift with some upgrades.

When we arrived there was only one light on the reception area, with the lounge, bar and dining room in darkness.

Mike the manager was very welcoming and helpful giving indispensable tips about our visit to the Kruger National Park, even letting us borrow his guide book and suggesting the best routes through the park.

The room was clean and comfortable but rather dated in an 80s way; unfortunately there were not enough towels or tea cups, but this was sorted quickly. However the TV had only 3 channels.

It is close to the Kruger, only 30 mins away and it backs directly onto the golf course if that is your game, and to be honest I think there are more homely warmer places which offer the same attractions. Unfortunately we won't be staying here again

A small family run business. Very serene & affordable!
Personalized service and very convenient for golfers. Carpets could go with an upgrade or replacement however the place is gorgeous! Golfers can walk to the White River golf course, the course is right there!!!⛳️

The guest house itself is dated in terms of decor but sometimes that is quite nice. Rooms view onto the golf course and the course is accessible through the garden. my fiance is a massive golfer, he can go play and I can meet him halfway!!! The food is okay....... option to eat at olivers next door. The rooms were comfortable but the bathrooms felt quite "cold" . Owners were friendly and accommodating as it was a last minute booking.

My wife and I spent a long weekend at the lodge. Set on the golf course it is the ideal setting for a tranquil stay. very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Heather and Mike are the perfect hosts and are there to welcome you personally. The breakfasts are super and Mike has always got a bottle wine hand.
We will definitely return to this gem in the Lowveld.

Under rated and overlooked. Great place to stay. Rooms larger than advertised and good value for money. Quietly situated on the edge of the golf course. Everything quietly understated. Breakfast was excellent

After being stuck at the gate for fifteen minutes we were finally allowed to enter the premises only to find no one at the reception desk. My partner had entered the hotel before me and urgently needed to prepare for a radio interview so had already darted to the room we were staying in. When I entered I asked if my partner had arrived. I did this in Afrikaans. I was ignored and only once I had switched over to English did I get any form of response from him.

I was asked "are you staying here" - as if I'm some kind of scumbag? I answered yes and asked which room my partner had gone to. I was told with attitude that we were staying in room eight. I proceeded towards the staircase when once at the top is still within eye-shot from the reception desk. When I began to look for the poorly marked sign which was supposed to direct me towards room eight I was once again shouted at from the reception desk that it's "that way". I responded by asking this person to please not shout at me. I proceeded to tell him that this lodge's service is sub-standard and was told that "it isn't my fault". I assume he was referring to us getting stuck at the gate for fifteen minutes.

The lodge is very dated. The lobby, reception area and staff are not very welcoming. Blame is passed in front of the customer in an excessively rude manner. We will definitely never stay here again.

If i could give a zero I would.

Our initial impression was a dark reception with no one around. The hotel was clean but out of date. Nice views across the golf course, a bit blocked by too many big shrubs. We were the only guests due to broken phone lines so it felt a bit isolated. Pillows were too small. If the hotel was updated it could be fantastic, maybe just fresh paint inside and out and updated decor, as the building itself was quite nice.

We stayed at the White River Golf Lodge by accident, intending to stay at another lodge but my secretary booked this by mistake. What a mistake staying there. The room was ok, although a bit dated but the attitude of the owner was appalling. We were treated like children when the owner felt we didn't follow his directions to a nearby restaurant (Oliver's, which was fantastic) when in fact we did but didn't fancy pushing through bushes and other peoples gardens to get to the restaurant. We have travelled a lot and this owner was the worst we have ever come across. We will never stay there again. He wife was pleasant though, bless her.

Our room was overlooking the golf course, chances are that most rooms were..., but that's besides the point. The owner, Mike, was very friendly. He waited for us as we were late arrivals and had booked late as well. When we got there, we had two single beds, but he made sure that he moved us to a double bed in a bigger room. It was really an awesome stay in what I may term a "dorpie". I'd definitely stay here again because of the awesome view and the brilliant service we received from Mike.

Set on a golf resort, this is a quiet and unpretentious lodge. Stayed there alrewady twice. Management very friendly. Away from the busy roads, perfect for a good rest from work. And you can take your golf clubs for a round of a very good golf course.
