Awesome place, will be back soon. Really relaxing and friendly too. Love the units, it's really like home away from home. Just short of a bar and rest but nevertheless it's really nice and family oriented too.

Dear Preyalan Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about my resort, we value and appreciate feedback. Your positive feedback will be shared with my team, and we are delighted to see you enjoyed our beautiful resort. Your comments about a bar and restaurant has been noted, we have done surveys in the past and the biggest reason why we do not have these on the property is that these entities are not feasible during low season, we continue to look at options. Please do visit us again soon. Yours in Hospitality Marike Van Wyk

My family and I with my 70 year old mother visited Pine Lake Resort from the 30 June - 3 July 2023. Upon arrival we were met by a very Friendly Security by the name Ronnie. We went to reception and was again very well received by the gentleman there (can not recall his name). Came to our unit and was again very impressed by the beautiful view from the unit as well as the unit self. Unfortunately our whole experience changed on the Saturday late afternoon when we came back from sight seeing at God's Window and the Potholes. The immobilizer on our vehicle suddenly did not want to work anymore and we came to the conclusion that we need replacement batteries. Without the immobilizer our vehicle will not start and we had a booking at the Kruger for the next morning (which was the BIG highlight of our holiday). Contacted my insurance also to find out they can only assist if the keys was locked inside the vehicle or if we were stranded at an unsafe location. We had no other way of transport so we went to reception and security to see if someone can assist us with a ride into town to get new batteries. We even asked our immediate neighbors but they could not or would not want to help either. NO vehicle from the resort side available to help us with a ride into town. I contacted the General Manager who was at that moment in Nelspruit at Innibos festival. She promised to see if she could find batteries on her way back. She did contact me late at night confirming that she could not find any. Sunday morning @ 7am I went to reception to once again ask for help with a ride into town. Reception was still closed. Strange as the sign operating Hours clearly shows 7am on Sundays. At 07:45 me and my 14 year old son decided to walk the 8.5km to the nearest mall and another 8.5km back to the lodge as there was no vehicle available or no one that even offered a ride knowing that we had no other transport. One would think that a luxury resort as Pine lake would have an emergency vehicle available but no they don't. Most of the people on duty the weekend was aware of our problem but did not bother to ask if they can assist with a ride or even getting food. (No Restaurant on the premises) Only after my son and I got back to the lodge at 11:45 (walked 17km uphill and downhill) did the Manager asked if we sorted our problem. Personally I think that Pine Lake Resort did not care about our problem as they never offered to help us to sort the problem. Only after I already walked to town and back they were shocked and offered a ride. Needless to say this whole ordeal left us with very Bad memories of the resort. Beautiful Resort but without any courtesy/emergency vehicle to assist guests in such situations. Will never want to go there again as we will always be reminded of the lack of help and interest they show to their guests.

Dear Nomad43420428513 It is with great sadness that I read the review posted online this morning, as I do feel we did assist and offer support. As you explained I was made aware of your car troubles @ 20:54 on Saturday evening, and by this time all the shops in town had already closed. I did try and assist by driving to 4 garages and unfortunately did not manage to find the remote batteries you had requested. Reception offered to book a transfer for you to town which you declined due to costs. My staff opened their personal items (watches and own remotes) as well, checking if any of their batteries would fit your remote. Being a self-catering resort to which all our guests self-drive, we do not have a vehicle on standby - but can book a taxi or transfer for emergencies. When I spoke to you on Sunday you had confirmed that indeed the remote was not the problem, and that the immobilizer itself had to be bypassed after you spoke to your mechanic, to allow you to travel home. I was even prepared to extend your departure time on Monday as per discussion if your vehicle was not repaired by the departure time @ 10:00. We were very much aware of your car troubles and did do everything we could to assist you. I am very sorry that you feel that we did not go above and beyond to assist you in this regard, we were in contact with you even after you departed the Resort to ensure you are travelling safe. Yours in hospitality Marike Van Wyk

A retreat away from home. A perfect place to rejuvenate from everyday hustle and bustle. A peaceful private self-catering unit overlooking a dam. The unit is revamped with all the fresh-looking decor. The unit is very spacious. 3 bedrooms - the main bedroom has a king bed and en-suite and a tv. The second bedroom also has a king bed. The bathroom has a shared bathroom. The third bedroom has 2 single beds. Both tv's are smart tv i.e you can connect to your Netflix, youtube, etc accounts. The unit has free wifi which was quite decent for connection with no limit, During our stay, there was stage 6 load shedding and we didn't even notice because the generators kicked immediately. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a nice lounge area overlooking the dam with a fireplace which makes the unit cozy. There is a dining area inside and outside on the patio. The outside patio has a decent size braai area which is well lit. The staff were so friendly and assisted you with all your requests. The unit is serviced daily and change of linen is daily or when requested. There is mini adventure golf, tennis court, basketball, and games room. paddle boats, canoes, and a spa. You can hire different board games from reception. There is a decent size pool which was very clean. There is a jogging path. There is no restaurant on the property and the shop is not well stocked

Self-catering resort with lakehouse feel. Scenic and tranquil. LOCATION: In the area to watch Springboks vs All Blacks at Mbombela Stadium. Situated perfectly between Mbombela and Kruger Park Phabeni gate to enjoy both over the weekend. ROOM; Decor: Not too fancy or elegant but perfectly adequate. Typical of a Southern Sun self-catering resort. Size: Spacious loft unit built over multiple levels. 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms - arrangement suitable for 4 adults plus 2 kids - not for 3 couples. Amenities: Well stocked with kitchenware. Private braai area. Bathroom amenities par for a 3-star resort I guess - better to take your own along. Cleanliness: Average (because of sluggish flow in shower drain). Serviced daily. Quality of sleep: Excellent SERVICE: Excellent FOOD: Self-catering. No restaurant on site. Convenience store stocking the bare minimum. A bit of a drive to nearest supermarket. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Quite a bit to do at resort - swimming pool (freezing cold though on a warm August day), mini golf, games room, spa, some watersports, tennis courts, boardgames, jungle gym to name a few. Kruger Park and lots of of beautiful scenery in the area - check distances on Google Maps compared to Hazyview/Sabi WILL I RECOMMEND AND STAY THERE AGAIN? Overwhelming yes

What a lovely place, every unit has incredible views. Beautifully maintained grounds. Mariske and her staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant and personal as possible. However this is not for those with reduced mobility, the units have about 4 split levels so quite a lot of stairs are to be negotiated. The units are well equipped and modernised inside, they even have USB chargers built into the Electrical plugs, which makes modern day connectability a lot easier. Casterbridge centre has the nearest restaurant and a top class coffee shop as well as a Movie house, Barnyard theatre and even a CharmingTransport museum, which is some 12 minutes drive away. Remember there is no restaurant on site. We had a great stay. Thank You

The chalets are spacious, clean, well equipped (dishwasher, microwave, top of the range stove and oven, television, satellite tv, uncapped wi-fi, 2 fireplaces; one indoors and one outside on the patio) well maintained and well designed. The chalet sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms (2 king size beds and 2 single beds in the room on the top floor). Each room is on a different level which offers privacy. The two rooms with the king sized beds each have bathrooms en-suite. The chalets are built on multi levels; the lounge and patio overlooking the lake are on the bottom level, the open plan kitchen and dining area on the mid level, then each bedroom on its own level. The design offers a sense of spaciousness without feeling that you are living on top of one another. It's not wheelchair friendly. The units are serviced daily and the staff are happy to build you a fire on cooler nights. The resort itself has a lot to offer in the form of water sports, skiing, canoeing, fishing, leisurely paddles around the lake on pedalos. The lake isn't fenced off so young children would need to be supervised, The swimming pool is fenced off and there is a 'baby pool' for the little ones. If you're looking for other activities there's volley ball, tennis court, adventure golf, there's a games room, gym and beauty spa. There's also a laundromat in the complex where you can do your own washing. The location also has wonderful bird watching trails so remember to pack binoculars! I like a morning run and while I haven't explored the running trails beyond the main gate, the resort itself is sufficient for me. Despite all the activities, it remains a serene, calm and peaceful place. The staff are very friendly, extremely obliging and go out of their way to assist you. When my companion lost the phone charger the reception managed to organise one which was delivered to our chalet within 10 minutes. The chalets are self catering and there isn't a restaurant on site but there are menus in the chalets from restaurants in white river who will deliver. There is a small shop in the complex where one can buy, fire wood and charcoal, sweets and a few very basic requirements. The resort is about an hours drive from Hazyview and the roads are glorious, the scenery breathtaking. It's just over an hour from Kruger and the other sites worth visiting in and around Mpumalanga. There's nothing I could fault at Pine Lake Resort. The service was excellent, the location magnificent, the accommodation, divine. If you are looking for a place for a family, friends or a partner to get away and connect, Pine Lake Resort could be the place for you. Thank you to the wonderful staff. I would definitely come back.

Went on a family vacation to pine lake resort. The rooms are spacious and it’s a fun resort overlooking a lake. Activities to do at pine lake resort include swimming and going on a boat cruise on the lake. It’s a self catering resort where one brings their own food and stocks it up in the fridge.
