The Lodge is based in St Lucia town which is a bonus because it is extremely central to major attractions such as the beach, Isimangaliso Wetland Park, A variety of local tourist attractions. We stayed at the self catering unit which was not bad and was quite enjoyable. There were good bedrooms and a great kitchen with a fridge and a television. Much like how I was expecting! Awesome variety of plant life making it a relaxing and soothing holiday resort. Also enjoyed the pool.

However there were a few points that I feel should be brought up in order for them to fulfil there full potential.
1. Maintenance: The outside of our wall had a pipe leaking rapidly which we had to report and across the property you will find a few taps running. They have a sign in the room stating the DStv channels that they offer however not all of the ones they say work actually worked.
2. Security: The property does not have any gate at its main entrance on MacKenzie street, only a gate in the back of the property on a different street. This is not ideal and a gate should be installed at the MacKenzie Street entrance to assure guests that it is safer. A guard is supposed to patrol the lodge at night as said on the website however for this big property there was only 1 guard patrolling.
3. Cleanliness: When we entered the lodge on our first day we had to clean the outdoor patio table as it was extremely dusty and was obviously not wiped down before we got there. However this was the only uncleaned part of our lodge.
4: Not equipped for Load shedding: During our stay we encountered load shedding which the lodge was not equipped with a backup system like a generator. Meaning that your chalet goes into complete darkness during load shedding hours. And there was also no running water when load shedding came, this must be due to them using a water supply pumped by electricity.

I hope the tips above are a guide to management that can be used to transform the lodge to it’s full potential.

Overall I would recommend the St Lucia Safari Lodge to everyone. It is spacious, and it is really value for money. Will definitely be back in the years to come.

It was comfortable enough for a family of six with two shower except the toilet which is only one. We are very happy and the kids enjoyed the swimming pool. The service and the location of the parking area is very convenient and practical.
I dont have any reservation and we will definitely come back in the next holiday season

St Lucia Safari Lodge is well situated and offers great value for the price of the accommodation. The room was comfortable and the hosts were very hospitable. There is limited space to park. Pool facilities were great!

Prior to arrival we are informed no breakfast will be served which we paid extra for (original fee R650, with breakfast R855) so we asked for a refund, we were then told bookings. Com will refund the amount and charged R650 again at reception expecting a proof of payment or refund within 48 hours it has now been 2 weeks iv been charged more than double the original cost and am now out of pocket we were also bugged repeatedly by staff slamming doors all night in a empty lodge we should have been made the most comfortable and that was not the case .. Not good

Hi, The lodge have great potential, but is in dire need of upgrade. The parking allocations is way too small as most vehicles are huge recreational vehicles, making it dangerous for cars to pass and leave no verandah space to use. The tables and chairs should be removed. The fridge is not cooling properly and light not working, shelves have been broken. Hairdryer was available without a plug. There are no signs or notifications re noise levels and should have a time limit at least, i.e. 10h00am to 6h00pm. The bed mattress is also in need of replacement.

Debbie and her team hosted us so amazingly! We felt like king and queen by their kindness and great service! The breakfast was also incredibly good, and serving was done in a way to keep us safe during these virus concerns.
The unit we stayed in was clean, in very good condition and in the perfect location. Thank you for our stay!!

The accommodation is conveniently located. We had 4 adults and 2 kids. Initially we were ok with the unit but underwhelmed. We would have appreciated a lounge in the unit as all rooms were bedrooms except for the kitchen and bathroom. There was no place to sit and chat besides sitting on beds. I doubt that the self catering units meet the 4 star grading indicated. Towels are only changed every second day if you are lucky. Dirty bedding is left as is during the daily servicing of the unit. We had hot chocolate marks on the bedding the entire time we were there and the beds were made without changing the dirty bedding. The daily servicing is poor to say the least, nothing gets changed. Our bathroom mats were also filthy and left as they were just like the bedding. We stayed for 5 nights; so this was a big issue for us. The WiFi was also VERY poor. It wasn’t ideal for us as our cellphone network coverage was also poor at the establishment as well as WiFi. Being in the town made up for the poor accommodation.

Really enjoyed our little weekend at St. Lucia Safari Lodge. It was a super hot weekend so we were very pleased to arrive at an air conditioned room waiting for us, comfy beds and dstv to kick back with after a long day. Walking distance to all the restaurants with lots of fun activities nearby. Great for a quick weekend away and would love to visit again.

Well, if you'd like to experience what it's like to stay in an African night club then this is the place for you.

The rooms are right on top of each other

Be prepared to stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning with people shouting, drinking, loud music, bottles breaking and all sorts of disturbances.

The 'entertainment area' is pretty much none functional, except the pool, the pool was nice when not over crowded

Cutlery and crockery were gross, we had to wash up before we could use them

Shortage of crockery

Self catering yet no where to pack your goods

Bed sheets had to be replaced because of snot or something on it

6 sleeper, 1 toilet and a kitchenette for 6 people which you can barely fit 3 people

Aircon doesn't work, just blows air

Beds are comfortable though

Photos you receive when querying the place are misleading

Parking is a joke

Free wifi, it's free and non functional

I should have read up on the reviews because many others have experienced the same.

Sorry to say but we will never stay there again. Rather spend a bit more and look elsewhere. Clearing filling beds is more important than customer experience. Very disappointed to say the least.

The lodge was satisfactory being well placed for shops and eating places. The design of the Lodge has been well done with a number of motel type rooms, plenty of greenery and a good sized pool. The staff were helpful and sympathetic as we were allocated a room in need of much tlc.

The 4 sleepers are more for parents with young children, The sleeping areas are separated with a partition. I suggest you opt for the 6 sleeper, it has a totally separate 2nd room

David, the six sleeper will be more suitable, it has a separate double bedroom
