Open your bedroom door onto the veranda to sit and enjoy the view of our tropical garden which surrounds all the rooms. 2 rooms serve as family units that are perfect for small families. Have a nice refreshing splash in the pool after a long day in the sun or laze around the pool and relax while you are entertained by bird songs. The garden is a bird lover's paradise, and over 500 species have been identified in the St Lucia and Elephant Coast area. We had a wonderful time staying at Maputaland guest house. The rooms were clean and the host (Jorg) was very knowledgeable of St. Lucia and was helpful in advising us of things to do. I would recommend this place to anyone who is wanting to visit St. Lucia! :)

Great Guest house located mid-distance between the beach and the main street in the town (15 minute walk).
Owners are fantastic, very friendly and provide good service and local advice.
Rooms are comfortable with kettle, fridge and AC. No TV though if that's of interest to some.
Breakfasts are great and generous! Never hungry for the day ahead.
Peaceful garden with a Pool. And if a hippo walks by in the evening one can watch it over the wall from the garden.
I'd recommend it for a short or, as I did, a longer stay.

Excellent stay and great hospitality from Jörg in Maputaland guesthouse. After settling down for a bit, we've obtained quite a lot of information about the activities available in the neighbourhood of St. Lucia and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Jörg was happy to help us booking activities and providing good suggestions what to do according to your preferences. When we needed something we could just ask him. Also, the guest house itself gives a relaxing atmosphere and the delicious breakfast can put you through the whole day (incl. pancakes, scrambled eggs, coffee, toast, fruit, cereals etc.). I travelled with my parents and my girlfriend and we got two seperate rooms within the guest house. The guest house and St. Lucia are a perfect stop when doing a round-trip from Johannesburg to Kruger to Drakensbergen. And yes, you definitely see some hippo's walking around the corner at night ;)
One point of improvement is the use of the showers which sometimes fail to provide water (probably when other guests are showering) or switches between cold and hot water. But I am completely aware this can be a difficult thing to manage in South Africa because we encountered this in some other lodges as well. We definitely recommend this place!

Although we were only passing through, this small guesthouse was a lovely one night stop. Gisela was a gracious and thoughtful hostess. We followed her recommendations and were happy with our use of limited time.The surroundings were very pleasant, and the amenities of WIFI, pool and breakfast made it a pleasant stay. Would definitely return and recommend it to others.

The hosts went out of their way to assist us, the rooms and facilities were top-notch. I would recommend Maputaland Guest house to all my friends and I can't wait to go back. This was an ideal set up if you don't want to make your own breakfast in the morning. The kitchen and braai facilities makes it really convenient for you to make your own lunch/dinner or you can pop over to the close by restaurants.

We were greeted by Gisela, a lovely host, she explained all about the B&B and made us feel home immediately. The nice rooms overlooked a very nice garden with a pool in which you can indulge yourselves. We enjoyed every morning a wonderful breakfast, cooked by Juergen, and served by lovely staff. We fully enjoyed our stay at Malutaland and St. Lucia. The hippo tour during the morning and turtle tour at night were a highlight of our visit. Maputaland B&B is a place to which we will return.

The place was clean, breakfast served was good and support/assistance from staff was great. They went out of their way to make our stay as memorable and as comfortable as possible. They assisted with "Things to do in St. Lucia" which was great for a person who hasn't been to the place.

We stayed at Maputaland guesthouse for a week during October 2020. Our friendly hosts introduced us to all the activities and events the area had to offer. The rooms are luxurious and modern. The dining area overlooks a lush garden with a lovely sparkling pool. Meals were excellent. The coffee is the best! Jörg is an experienced nature conservationist. Some of our highlights were the hippo and snorkeling experiences! We will cherish the fun and laughter we shared with our hosts! We are looking forward to our next stay! I love the ambiance of the facility. Jorg, Gisela and Penny are amazing hosts and the breakfast is always prepared with lots of love. It's my go-to place in St Lucia and they never disappoint. Will definitely be going back there in the future.

Very friendly and tranquil, owner run guest house in St. Lucia. Very good breakfast with toast, cheese, wurst, eggs, fruits, yoghurt and fresh coffee. Jörg, the owner, gives you a lot of helpful reccomendations what to do in St. Lucia and where to eat out.
