Umlilo Lodge is a 4 star guest house situated in the small village of St Lucia, the only private village in the world to be completely surrounded by a World Heritage Site. We offer 13 comfortable en-suite guests rooms in our tropical treehouse like lodge with a Smart TV and Netflix. Guests can choose to laze on the wooden deck by the pool, make use of our free WiFi or relax in our bar lounge with an honesty bar and full Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) which is surrounded by a fishpond. In the evenings guests can choose to enjoy Dinner at Umlilo Lodge ( on request) or wander into town to sample our local restaurants. You are spoiled for choice from 07:30 until 09:30 when we serve a healthy and delicious English and continental breakfast, which also includes fresh fruit, assorted yoghurt, cold meats, cheeses, cereal and much more. Such a pleasure to stay at the Umlilo lodge, the grounds are so beautiful like a mini tropical forest. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, assisting us with booking activities. The lodge is located about 30 seconds walk from the main street in St Lucia, so it’s perfect for going out for meals and for getting picked up for trips/tours/safaris. Would definitely stay again

Wonderful jungle garden in the middle of the village with super gentle and efficient staff. Double rooms are very nice, breakfast very rich and the whole lodge is a lovely hidden corner 2 minutes walking from the centre

Umlilo lodge will definitely see us again. Hot showers any time of day, availability of water on site and secluded/private campsites. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to beautiful Kosi Bay mouth. We will be back

Our family of four spent three nights at Umlilo and loved it. The room was spacious and comfortable and having the common outdoor seating area was great. Staff is friendly and helpful and the location was great.

A beautiful peaceful tropical oasis. Spacious rooms amidst lovely gardens with very helpful and friendly owners. Just a block from main road but calm and quiet. Only issue was that bathrooms insufficiently ventilated and so were a bit humid, but AC was strong in counteracting this.

My friend and I had a great stay at Umlilo lodge. Warm welcome from the owner. We arrived in the evening and he kindly gave us information about what to do, so we could book and organise our stay efficiently. The room was big and very confortable. We enjoy a very good breakfast (we travelled 5 weeks in South Africa and this one is really at the top of the ranking ;)); and Charles cooked something special (kind of beignet) to take away when we were about to leave and this was very kind. The lodge is within a short walking distance to the main street of Santa Lucia which is handy and there is a nice restaurant with a terrace just around the corner, still in Dolfyn Avenue. I highly recommend this place!

This hotel is a really special place to stay. I felt like I was staying in the middle of the jungle with tropical trees and plants growing everywhere and a bubbling stream a metre from my room. The breakfast was really nice with a comprehensive buffet that would satisfy any requirements. The sloping walkways and spacious low threshold showers mean this place is particularly disabled friendly. Nice pool and safe parking also provided

We really enjoyed our stay although the weather wasn’t the best. Umlilo Lodge is perfectly situated close to everything in town, yet not right in the centre so quieter. Once back from our daily explorations we could park our car and just walk everywhere. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The only slightly negative thing is that the cupboard is very small and not suitable to hang clothes for 3 nights for 2 persons (we had to live out of our suitcases!). But this is a small thing compared to the nice set up of the lodge. Thank you for having us.
