Wonderful lodge near Ohrigstad in Mpumalanga with every detail taken care of from arrival to the very end of our stay. Situated on a private nature reserve, the lodge offers excellent birding and nature walks. It's near the Blyde River Canyon, which was our "en Route" to the Kruger National Park, and is ideal to explore the spectacular Panorama Route and the Kruger Lowveld region when staying at Iketla Lodge. The private patios provide magnificent views of the valley below, mountains, cliffs, and indigenous forests. We had “Romance Chalet” that offers just that little more for a special occasion. or not. It is more spacious than the other chalets, and “Romance Chalet” offers as well a bath with an exquisite view into the bush and a larger open-air shower. Very secluded and idyllic! Fantastic staff and great service. The food was delicious, the setting was so relaxing and beautiful. I will never forget the chef cook coming every evening to present us with the menu. She was very shy, but went out of her comfort zone and made our stay even more colorful. They offered us luxury in a stark wilderness. No comfort was overlooked. From the initial welcome to the daily smiles and greetings to the culinary offerings to the attentive assistance. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic African experience. Would recommend at least two nights to take full advantage of what is on offer.…
So peaceful, beautiful, quiet and scenic. Perfectly appointed rooms, with outside showers and comfortable verandas. Excellent food and staff. Lovely little shop to purchase local handicrafts. Stayed 3 nights for a Panorama Tour. Nice hiking. Perfect.
Really enjoyed my stay here! I swear the staff and owners have a manual re customer service lol. Very considerate and goes out of their way to make ones stay VERY comfortable. Premises are excellent and very clean. The food is well prepared and presented! Tastes as good as it looks!! I really can’t empathize enough on customer service! Value for money indeed! A special shout out to Lizzie :-) what an over achiever! I guess she takes after her boss / leader Greg who leads by example. Thank you guys!
Beautiful, comforting, clean Lodge with a good view and a outside shower. We've got upgraded to the honeymoon Lodge. There is a lot of privacy with every Lodge but ask for the one with the view. The lapa is cosy, the food was amazing and the staff (gregg and linsey were so nice en helpfull) Great place to stay when you want to discover the panorama route and you want to have a peacefull relaxing time. You van hike in de Nature reservaat and discover kudu/springbok etc.
We where on a self drive and stayed here for 2 nights. Accommodation was beautiful, staff where lovely and friendly. The area is so peaceful and stunning. Lovely marked walks at different abilities, well worth going on one. A nice little curio shop with good prices. Would definitely return for another stay.
Just got back from a 3 week vacation through South Africa. Stayed in multiple lodges including Iketla lodge. I would go back to all the lodges we stayed in but not to Iketla. Although the place is awesome, nice food and nice staff the presence of the German owner ruined the stay. He shares his negative views of other guest with guests, my daughter witnessed him bullying his staff........enough said
This lodge is a great location to stay with your family for a visit to Drakensberg Mountains and Blyde River Canyon. The rooms are spacious and furnished in a typical African style, alls equipped with inside and outside showers and private terraces with a view in the bush. There is a minibar and a coffee machine (unfortunately the milk in the fridge had gone off and we had to wait for 2 days to get it replaced). Cleanliness of the rooms is okay, however does not quite meet German expectations, e.g. dustbins were not emptied every day - but then that was the same everywhere we went in SA. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable when it comes to the animals you can come across on the lodge's grounds. From the main house several walking tours start with different durations from 30 min - 3.5 hrs. The view from the garden behind the main house is great, overlooking the valley as well as a waterhole where you can spot different antilope species, baboons, warthogs etc. in the evening. Good dinner is served in the evenings (4 courses) and for breakfast a choice of eggs is offered next to croissants, toast, butter, jam and cereals/yoghurt. The lodge is a great starting point for the Panorama route. We enjoyed our stay a lot!…
We arrived late and dinner was being held for us, very kind. The girl that received us was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. My room was ok, but the other room we booked was unbelievably smelly, the stench was almost unbearable. The main lodge was quite nice but it was very cold. May is not the warmest time of the year but after dinner the second night we had to ask them to light a fire. This was done but we were made to feel that they would be happier if we went to our cabins. Before we arrived we read that there were guided tours offered but even though we were the only guests in the hotel you had to book them the day before and they were only offered at 07:00. When I asked about this I was told that this is the way things are! The surroundings were beautiful and the walks were clearly marked so it was easy to find the way.…
This lodge offer stunning views of the mountain and tranquility like no other. It's peaceful and a great escape from city life. Walking trails were a big selling point for us. Outdoor shower with a view of the sunrise was something special. Going back to a warm bed after dinner was also something special (whilst out for a dinner meal, the electric blanket was put on. Nice touch). Nadia was a brilliant hostess. She looked well after us from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Her knowledge on the morning bushwalk was very good. The food was good and well presented. Consider offering 2 meat options and 2 veg options. This would have raised it by one star more.
Beautiful place. The lodges are well-equipped and very nice. The outside shower is wonderful and the view is so relaxing. The employees are really, during dinner you will be able to rest in a quiet atmosphere surrounded by nature. If you are looking for a place to relax for bit, this is the place for you. 100% recommended
