Detailed Reviews
Wonderful lodge near Ohrigstad in Mpumalanga with every detail taken care of from arrival to the very end of our stay. Situated on a private nature reserve, the lodge offers excellent birding and nature walks. It's near the Blyde River Canyon, which was our "en Route" to the Kruger National Park, and is ideal to explore the spectacular Panorama Route and the Kruger Lowveld region when staying at Iketla Lodge. The private patios provide magnificent views of the valley below, mountains, cliffs, and indigenous forests. We had “Romance Chalet” that offers just that little more for a special occasion. or not. It is more spacious than the other chalets, and “Romance Chalet” offers as well a bath with an exquisite view into the bush and a larger open-air shower. Very secluded and idyllic!
Fantastic staff and great service. The food was delicious, the setting was so relaxing and beautiful. I will never forget the chef cook coming every evening to present us with the menu. She was very shy, but went out of her comfort zone and made our stay even more colorful. They offered us luxury in a stark wilderness. No comfort was overlooked. From the initial welcome to the daily smiles and greetings to the culinary offerings to the attentive assistance. Would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic African experience. Would recommend at least two nights to take full advantage of what is on offer.

Beautiful, comforting, clean Lodge with a good view and a outside shower. We've got upgraded to the honeymoon Lodge. There is a lot of privacy with every Lodge but ask for the one with the view. The lapa is cosy, the food was amazing and the staff (gregg and linsey were so nice en helpfull) Great place to stay when you want to discover the panorama route and you want to have a peacefull relaxing time. You van hike in de Nature reservaat and discover kudu/springbok etc.

Stayed 4 nights and used it as a well placed base for exploring parts of Sekhukuniland and the Mpumulanaga highlands. Seems a bit overpriced, but targeted at foreign travellers. Food was pretty good, nothing too fancy. Rooms very comfortable, only problem is that next door chalet kept aircon going all night long (unnecessary), and its only 5m away from bedroom window - which I wanted to keep open, so not as quite as it should have been. Previous manager had badly neglected to maintain the many great walking trails, but new manager is now working on them. Tree name labels also not maintained, but not all correct anyway.

Dear Nick, Thank you for review. Unfortunately, some guests does not take into consideration the comfort of the guests around them. We apologize that you had an uncomfortable night with their AC on. We have in the meanwhile started with the trails and they are now very pleasant to walk on. Kind Regards Iketla Team

Really enjoyed my stay here! I swear the staff and owners have a manual re customer service lol.
Very considerate and goes out of their way to make ones stay VERY comfortable.
Premises are excellent and very clean. The food is well prepared and presented! Tastes as good as it looks!! I really can’t empathize enough on customer service! Value for money indeed!
A special shout out to Lizzie :-) what an over achiever! I guess she takes after her boss / leader Greg who leads by example.
Thank you guys!

We received a very warm welcome - Twanet gave us detailed information about possible excursions - Pieter & Claudie also provided us with valuable information.
The food was like it came from grandma's kitchen - very tasty and delicious!

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our tour. From here we drove back to Johannesburg for the evening flight. The lodge is small-scale and located in a beautiful reserve. The houses you sleep in are really beautiful, with a view of the valley with a drinking hole, outdoor and indoor shower, very spacious room. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, service very friendly. The host Pieter and hostess Claudie were very friendly and we could understand each other well (African and Dutch). In the morning we went for a walk both alone and with Pieter, only seeing Impalas but plenty of footprints of zebras and monkeys. Used the day for the panoramic route with tips from Pieter. It was very beautiful, we spent 8 hours there and enjoyed it.

The Iketla Lodge was the first stop on our almost four-week trip to South Africa. After the long journey, we were warmly welcomed with wet washcloths and a welcome drink. My son is lactose and fructose intolerant and was immediately involved in planning the meals for the coming days. Nowhere else on our trip was he as well looked after as there. The food was excellent and the little houses were clean and comfortable. From the terrace we had a great view of a valley with a small waterhole. There was an absolutely relaxed atmosphere. Claudin and Peter, the hosts, as well as Lizzy and the ladies in the kitchen made our stay something very special with their warm and friendly manner! Thank you again for that.

Our stay at Iketla was wonderful! The lodge is small-scale, but cozy at the same time. The view from the lodge is beautiful. Pieter and Claudina are warm-hearted people who ensured that we lacked nothing. Also ask for tips for the area. Iketla is a nice place to do the Panorama route from. The lodge also has a number of hiking trails that are definitely worth it. We were lucky enough to spot zebras (very briefly)! It was a wonderful place for us to recover from our flight and relax.
