This brand new guest house is truly a spectacular place to stay and it will only get better as time goes on, the price is reasonable and the rooms are exquisite! My only regret is not being able to stay a extra day!!

They are very new and might still have some niggles to sort out and that why i am sure it will only get better as they gain more experience.

The owner Bridget and her family is very helpful and will cater for your needs!

Thanks again for making my stay fabulous. See you soon

First i must state that other than the name....nothing here is victorian. I dont know if one of the owners name is victor or victoria. However this does not diminish the fact that it is a good pksce to stay. It is clean. Spacious. Luxurious. Relatively well located. But in my opinon the price is 20 to 25% to high. But it was a good stay.

This is a newly completed guesthouse in Nelspruit offering accommodation alternatives to pricey competitor establishments in the area. Best part is the fact that the per-room-rate works out much cheaper per person than in other guesthouses that offer the same facilities!

We had booked at this guesthouse for the weekend as my husband and I were running the Kaapsehoop marathon. We specifically booked at this guesthouse because of its proximity to the start and finish of the race. We drove down from Jo'burg and only arrived at the guesthouse after 19h00 on the Friday evening. When we arrived we were met by one of the kitchen staff who was assisting the owner, she told us we had to go to the 2nd Victorian guesthouse which was situated 12 minutes away on the other side of Nelspruit. Needless to say we were not very pleased by this turn of events. When we arrived at the 2nd guesthouse my husband spoke to the owner telephonically to let her know we were unhappy about the change in accommodation. She then said there had been a mistake and we had to return to the 1st guesthouse. By this stage we were highly irritated.
When we arrived in our room we discovered that there was no hot water so we could not bath. Concerned about getting some sleep before the race so we just went to bed.
The following morning we left for the start at 02h45 we had to wake the poor lady who had helped us the previous evening as there were not enough remotes for the gates. At this point I also informed her of the lack of hot water.
When we got back from the race we were hot, tired and sore, all we wanted was to soak in a hot bath and take a nap. Unfortunately there was still no hot water. The owner was still nowhere to be found so we had to phone her to complain, at this point other guests also informed us that they didn't have hot water. We eventually decided to find alternative accommodation. An altercation with the owner as we were leaving added an even more negative feeling to an already frustrating stay.

The room was beautiful, linen excellent, big bathroom. It was extremely clean. The staff were friendly. However, we only had one teabag and one rooibos teabag in room. The next morning we received the same. We were two people in the room. Frisco coffee is a BIG no no in a day and age where upmarket guesthouses actually have coffee machines with pods in the room. Breakfast was really poor with everything in plastic. No decent coffee, only frisco sachets. I would rather pay less and forego breakfast. What I find demotivating are the responses to similar comments on other sites from the owners, which basically say, "Thank for your comments, we hope to see you soon." So I doubt that the bfast situation will change.

The positives were a great king size and fine linen. Place is very clean and the bathroom was spotless.
The poor: The uneven staircase accessing the first floor is serious concern and should be condemned.
The very bad: breakfast was without a doubt the worst I’ve ever had on any of my travels. To say breakfast was poor is an understatment. It was near disgusting. On that alone I would not recommend The Victorian. Why would you think serving your guests Ricoffe is acceptable?

We stoped here from our way from Kruger park to Johannesburg.
The place is very taking care of!
The rooms are super clear, we were impressed how much clean it is!
The bed was comfortable as a cloud and very big.
The room looks like they were renovated just a few days before we came just because everything was so new!
You have a giant mall 2 minutes from the guesthouse so that was great as well.
We had a positive experience from the staff and from the guesthouse.
I recommend to stay here for sure

1. The owner has 2 guesthouses (both called Victorian) and when the one is fully booked, guests are accommodated at the other place - this is a problem when accommodation is searched area specific and when you arrive in the evening at the address to be told that this is not the correct guesthouse.
2. The rooms are very spacious, modern and have a great bed/bedding.
3. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. We were in Nelspruit for a sport event and returned after the event for a very late breakfast and even later checkout.
4. Because I made assumptions about the name I was taken aback on arrival as it is not Victorian at all, but all in all the stay was pleasant.

But disappointingly lacking in attention to detail....
No salt and pepper shakers on the breakfast table but rather those little take-a-way sachets. Complimentary tea and coffee in rooms not always replenished. No outdoor area except for balconies.
Friendly staff and comfortable beds with quality bedding. But no bedside lamps.
Not recommended for long stay, but rather shorter visits.

This guesthouse is elegant and classy. Every thing inside is of the finest quality. The bedding is like a 1000 thread counts. The bathroom tub, sink, taps and toilet are of the finest quality. The kitchen appliances are range topping. The tiles are huge full gloss. The lighting in the rooms and around the guesthouse are amazing. The owner must of spent a fortune on this guesthouse. The pictures on the website are definitely an exact representation of this guesthouse. The rooms have a safe, big fridge, aircon, large wardrobe, block out curtains, huge mirrors, free wifi and a flatscreen
