My wife and I stayed 2 nights, arriving at 1PM with a rental car and using the covered parking in front. A nice receptionist copied my passport, as I signed an entry sheet, then presented the key cards. We took our bags up the stairs to the 1st floor. Wood floored room #116 opened to a fully outfitted bathroom with a tub and shower stall, across a closet with safe, then a desk with 2 outlets/2 chairs, a comfortable king faced a satellite TV(Al Jezzara, CNN, 4 SABC, 4 sports and 4 movies), coffee station with small refer, then an opening window with view of the parking lot. The spacious room had quiet AC, good secure WIFI and quick hot water. The serviced 6:30AM lobby breakfast was excellent; juices, fruit, yogurt, egg station, hot and cold meats, cheese, breads/jams, muffins and coffee machine choices. We used their nice rectangular pool twice. This renovated 94 room hotel is within a 300m walk from the petrol/KFC/Spar and a 500m drive to the Valley Hyper Centre/Checkers.

Hotel is decent, clean and well located in Mbombela. However staff at reception are useless. We arrived on Saturday 30 September at 17h30 and it took 45 minutes to check in. Our confirmation letter showed that our booking included breakfast whereas the computer reflected room only. The room allocated to us behind reception was next to the parking. Very noisy throughout the evening when guests come in and park. When we arrived for breakfast on Monday morning the restaurant staff told us that breakfast was not included. Again we had to show our confirmation letter to reception before we were allowed to have breakfast..

Friendly staff and good dinner. However, hotel is in an older and less safe part of town, the rooms are dark with minimal lighting, no elevator, no gym and decor is tired. Less than expected from Protea/Marriott. Make sure you don’t have a room directly over/near the dining area as it is very noisy.

Many small problems in my room and in the hotel. the bathroom in my room was full of tiny ants. I alerted the reception, the problem repeated itself a day later.
very long time until the water in the shower became hot, too long.

The hotel is on a very quite place, Corporate to say. Staff with their supervisors are very helpful and friendly, Rooms are big and very clean, food is great with variety to choose from, freshly prepared. Service is top notch. The hotel has got a peaceful atmosphere, even though fully booked the service is exceptionally great.

Great and clean, well kept and well managed Hotel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Mr Grabe is the best host I have experienced, on both foreign and domestic travels. Definitely the place in nelspruit.

It was and I will say it is a very nice establishment run well clean room entrance outer tard, I recommend it please note that in nelspruit there are many nice places to stay in. Oops too many words. You can also visit Loeries corner for meals

What a great hotel. A very cozy and serene hotel set in a great location.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Lovely pool area, neat gardens, warm and cozy bar and lounge area.
The cuisine was excellent and the staff provided very good service.
Overall a great hotel in Nelspruit.

The front office manager must really work on her attitude towards guest, she was very unfriendly and even a single smile nothing, my husband was trying so hard to have a conversation with her but she was not having non of it, she never asked how we were doing, how was our trip to nelspruit since we not from Mpumalanga. To come think of it it our 1st time staying at Protea Hotel and I expected a better and warm welcome. The room that we were giving to it faces the parking and the cars are just noisy so are the people outside. I mean she even confirmed about the hotel not being busy so why didn’t she give us a room that’s not facing the parking. I am really dissatisfied with the service we received from Stacey front office Manger. You could do better!!! Try to be more warm towards your guests especially if it’s their 1st time, obviously You wouldn’t know if it’s their 1st time in nelspruit and staying at protea hotel 1st time cause you never bothered to ask how we doing and where we come from. Worst part to tell us about the amenities of where is the restaurant, bar, pool area what time is breakfast or dinner. Your service is poor.
