Welcome to your home in the bush. Tomjachu is an exclusive, family-owned private nature reserve set in over 550 hectares of game fenced mountain bushveld, located within the Crocodile Valley Nature Conservancy. Just 20 minutes from Nelspruit it overlooks the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park and the great Crocodile River valley. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, with family, friends, or your loved one, Tomjachu offers something for everyone. On our trails, tracks and roads you can mountain bike through the bush on easy or challenging routes, hike amongst the abundant plains game and through mountains and valleys, go for a game drive or guided walk with a knowledgeable guide, enjoy a night-sky safari, and try your hand at fishing for bass and bream in our dams. Or simply unwind by the pool, listening to the orchestra of over 265 bird species, as the fresh mountain air trickles up from the valley below.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed at the main lodge. It is very well kept with antique style furniture, plush beds, outstanding views, gas lamps, clean swimming pool, stocked firewood with several fire places, exotic animals. Wonderful place to hike or drive to Kruger or relax on the patio sofas or pool and enjoy the view. Excellent staff and meals.

Dear Dennis, Thank you for taking the time to leave us with a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in the Homestead. As you may have read it was originally my grandfather's house, and many of the antiques were collected over the years by my family. He did a great job in choosing a location to build his house with such an amazing view, and i'm so happy to be able to share it with our guests. We hope that you will be able to visit us again in the future. Until then wishing you safe travels. From Jack & The Tomjachu Team

The property, cottages, and scenery are so beautiful that you don't think it can get any better, but then you meet the staff. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Chefs Flone and Solomon, Abigail, and everyone else who took care of us during our three night stay. They packed picnics for us, served us dinner under the stars, arranged an amazing safari experience, and set me up with a mountain bike to tackle the trails. The meals were so delicious and they were incredibly accommodating to my wife's dietary restrictions. It was the perfect place to unplug and unwind. Sometimes zebras would greet us at our cottage. On our bike ride and hike we saw kudu, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, wildebeest, and impala. It's really spectacular. To the Tomjachu staff: Thank you for being the most memorable part of our honeymoon in SA!

I certainly wont book anywhere else when I need to travel to Nelspruit for work. Only 10km out of the city centre, you benefit from all the peace and quiet of the bush, with lodge hospitality, exceptional meals and well appointed rooms, while still being able to spend a 9 to 5 in town. A perfect gateway stop for Kruger trips, and being able to walk on foot with giraffe and buck - what a treat!

We had such high expectations. I must say, on a positive note, the location of this place is spectacular, and the tree is beautiful. Our room was adequate even though we had two singles beds pushed together with the uncomfortable join. The staff were dreadful. It was as if we had taken advantage of a price reduction and should be punished for it! We popped out for dinner one night (didnt trust the cooking of Tomjachu after being served raw pork sausages for breakfast) and returned to a darkened locked up main homestead! You have to ask for anything and everything. Towels are old and small. If you wait outside the kitchen at breakfast no-one offers coffee. I truly do not understand how any seasoned traveller will come away from this overated place happy.

A beautiful quiet and scenic place to stay. Location is amazing, stunning views and lots of trails to walk or just to relax.
We stayed in Keepers cottage, it was well appointed with loads of space, very comfortable and clean and a great outdoor area complete with braai.
The staff were all very helpful and friendly, the breakfasts and evening meals in the main homestead were all excellent, really enjoyed the pool area too.
It was nice to be able to walk freely surrounded by the various wild animals and numerous birds in such lovely surroundings.

What a amazing lodge we were speechless by the spectacular surroundings.. We had the Keepers cottage and we loved it. Keepers is a little house with kitchen, living room, separate bedroom, a small bathroom, a veranda with garden and barbecue. A mother and baby zebra passed by our house every day. Tomjachu lodge is located in a beautifully fenced and safe area, where you can walk various hiking trails and encounter zebras, impalas, wilde beast, giraffes. The terrace of Tomjachu, where you can have a delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink, has a breathtaking view. Abigail ensures that you lack nothing, she awaits you after a day of safari to Kruger National Park with her generous smile and warm welcome. Haysleigh the guide/driver accompanied us to Kruger for 2 days. We really had a fab time. And we would have liked to stay longer, because 4 nights was actually too short. We will definitely come back here in the future, what a fantastic place. Thank you all dear people, especially Abigail, Priscilla and Ross. Until we meet again.

We were at Tomjachu in Sept last year and back again on 17 Jan for 2 nights in Bush Cottage. Again, this is a gem of a retreat! Unbelievable service, professionalism and the food is 5 star....not to mention the views. It's a huge advantage to be able to self-cater, eat at The Homestead's top class restaurant or have a meal delivered to your cottage. Fantastic trails through the bush with guaranteed sightings of animals and birds. Thank you once again for special memories. We'll be back for sure.

Room Tip:Â Bush Cottage, which has 2 bedrooms, is the most private. But all units are lovely.

I can highly recommend Tomjachu to all pet owners wanting to take their furbabies with them on Holiday. The pet-friendly cottage is very isolated, with isolated hiking trails. This was awesome, no need to worry about disturbing other guests. The fenced yard (very secure) is very spacious too, allowing loads of space for play times. Cottage dinners were absolutely amazing!!

We stayed by Tomjachu and went on the Bush Dinner. What an absolute treat. The people were amazing! My boyfriend is a very fussy eater and they accommodated his fussiness with no hesitation. It was the 1st time he could enjoy the full dinner experience from start to end. Everything was absolutely great. The staff made such an effort. I would highly recommend going there.

+1
We overnighted here on our way back from Kruger Park to JHB. We hoped for a comfortable night, and were surprised by the magical place called Tomjachu.
The chef impressed us with a meal that would have been appropriate on a fine dining menu. The deep sense of rest and quiet was amazing considering it was just 10 minutes outside Nelspruit.
The cottage was spectacular with special touches like a double shower, hammock and private fire pit.
Our morning walk was the cherry on the top.
Note that the drive in for the last 4km is not appropriate for low cars. Be patient and enjoy the drive!

Yes, would be great for a 9 year old. The game is zebra and buck, so quite safe and interesting for a child. Lots of places to go walking and exploring.
Again this question has to be addressed to the manager
