Amazing lodge, with spectacular views. Friendly family owned lodge. Beautiful rooms. Kids play area for the kiddies. Sunsets are beautiful on the deck overlooking the mountains. Definitely value for money.

We had a unforgettable two night stay at Oluchi Lodge. The two premium rooms have unbelievable views and are very well equipped. Very clean. Our room had a King size bed. Pools and entertainment area are lovely and clean. This is a hidden gem that should be appreciated! Very good rates. Do yourself a favor and go visit this establishment!! Highly recommended. Ben & Martie are fantastic hosts. Amazing venue! Love it!!

Am actually writing this before our stay ends as it is that good
A tranquil place about 10 min out of Nelspruit, this place is set within the hills. Most amazing views over the bush and landscape from the rooms. Shower and bathroom were amazing
Staff were very friendly - had a lovely home cooked dinner with drinks (fully serviced bar) and they were very chatty. Kept asking if we wanted anything else
An absolute jewel, a real highlight of our trip

+1
I have to say the photos and reviews don’t do this place justice. We were expecting something quite nice, don’t get me wrong, but this place was amazing and I would not only recommend it to anyone visiting Nelspruit but for anyone visiting South Africa. Change your plans, take a detour and stay here for at least a few nights. The hosts were a pleasure, very giving of their time and local knowledge. The breakfast was amazing and every taste was catered for. The rooms were spotless and the whole complex and business is furnished and run with the highest quality in mind. The beds were super comfortable. The only downside (and I’m really clutching at straws here) is that the property is difficult to locate (don’t follow google maps, rather use the pin the hosts will send you) and you can’t pay the deposit by credit card if you are booking direct with the Lodge (this means an expensive Electronic Fund Transfer if you are based overseas). Personally I am sad we didn’t stay longer, but we will be back!!!

The place is very beautiful, friendly stuff, great breakfast but I've noticed that they do not change the towels instead they hang dry those that you've used already instead of changing them every morning and give you fresh one.

Oluchi is a small, secluded lodge that is perfect for people who enjoy nature and being away from the crowds. The lodge and grounds were lovely and the service superb. Overall we loved it so much we extended our stay and we’re already planning to return soon.
Lodge Description—
There is a large central lodge with a bar and dining area, beautifully decorated with a high thatched roof. Outside, there is a covered deck with tables and chairs and an excellent view over the valley. There is also a hammock and swing chair. There is a Weber gas braai bbq for guests to cook their own food. Next to the outside dining area is an infinity pool with deck-chair loungers. There is good wifi in the common areas but not the rooms. The lodge has just 8 rooms, and in our experience even at full capacity the pool and deck area are very quiet, as guests seem to spend time in their rooms or away from the lodge (at least during our stay). Tip: the executive and ‘honeymoon/family’ suites are the best rooms, and feature a private deck/balcony with a spectacular view. The other rooms may have a private patio area but the views are more limited.
Hosts and Service—
Pieter, Lynne and Xander are a family that own and run the lodge. They all truly went above and beyond to cater for all our needs. They are wonderful, thoughtful hosts. The food was superb and has a home-cooked feel. Breakfast is included, dinner is offered at a bargain extra cost, and lunch is not offered. I think my only negative for the whole stay was that the bar was not as well-stocked as it could be (e.g. sometimes no lemonade or Coke Light) - but the Oluchi team made us delicious gin cocktails and gave excellent wine recommendations, so we were never thirsty.
What to do at Oluchi—
There are two lovely walks through the Oluchi grounds, and you are guaranteed to see wonderful birds, butterflies and plants. One takes approximately 5-10 minutes and takes you to a rocky hilltop with a spectacular view. The other walk takes you down into the valley in front of Oluchi lodge, and takes about an hour round-trip. You are more likely to see game on this walk, and we saw Kudu, Impala and wart-hog. The lodge has two very friendly dogs and do not be surprised if they cheerfully accompany you on your walk!
Those enjoying birding can also contact Johann [0027832943370] who is a bird guide at Kaapsehoop around 40 mins drive from Oluchi. He took us to several great birding hotspots which we could not otherwise have accessed. He is knowledgeable and kind and charged a very low fee for 6 hours guiding.

The place was fantastic in all aspect including the scenery, hospitality, the breakfast, the cleanliness and just everything else. The only downside is how deep into the forest the location is we had to drive on a gravel road for a few kilometres and even more on a mountaineous road shich was scary at night. But overall, perfect place.🙌🏽🙌🏽

· The lodge is located up in the mountains, paradise of calmness. If you want peace and quiet it’s the place to be. The views over the valley are spectacular. The rooms and the lodge is very tastefully designed and decorated. On a hot day the infinity pool is wonderful to chill in. Each room has a balcony and there is a common area to sit and relax, read or watch tv. Lynne, Pieter and Xander can’t do enough for you, very friendly and warm hearted people. They made us feel like family. Loved Xander’s breakfast and dinner, excellent cook. We had booked one night but ended up staying 2 nights. Thanks to Lynne’s generosity. Would recommend Oluchi Lodge 100%. Would love to bring our family next time. Hope you keep flourishing.
