Serenity Mountain and Forest Lodge offer spacious and luxurious thatched chalets that are romantically tucked away in the riverine forest overlooking the cascading mountain stream. The luxury honeymoon suites are secluded, romantic and spacious each with their own private deck. The cascading mountain forest stream through the lodge makes it an idea for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. It is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains. It is 12km outside the town of Malelane, 19km from the famous Kruger National Park. The Lodge and Restaurant are nestled in a bio-diverse Forest type eco-system. Some of the forest trees date back to more than a 1000 years and with that comes an abundance of bird species, rare butterflies, tree orchards, dragon flies and natural roaming game which are found in this reserve.

A beautifully finished lodge submerged in nature - a wonderful way to escape into the forest for a relaxing break. The staff were second to none - special mention to Cry who was charming and thoughtful. Recommend trying the food (all options excellent), exploring nearby walks, watching the colourful bird life / butterflies and using as a base to visit Kruger. There is a ~30min drive on unpaved roads to get there - but well worth the effort

My girlfriend and I absolutely loved our stay at serenity mountain lodge. The owner (Janet) really went out of her way to make sure we were absolutely comfortable (this included booking our game drive for us and organising us the most awesome massage in our rooms). Janet truly is an awesome person who had the warmest smile and really goes the extra mile to make sure her guests are happy; the manager Cry is also a really nice guy and will also go out of his way to make sure you are 100 percent satisfied. I highly recommend this forest paradise and will definitely be back.

We stayed at Serenity Mountain Lodge for 2 nights en route to Kruger.
Wow, what a truly unexpected & totally amazing place so close to Malelane. This property in the midst of the thick, beautiful riverine forest, with the river ebbing & flowing throughout, is truly breathtaking! You feel like you've been transported to some fairytale setting.

We were welcomed by Thebogo on arrival who took care of the check in procedures, walked us over wonderful wooden walkways to the central dining, bar & pool area, again simply stunning! All situated right next to the river which flows below the decks.

Thebogo then took us up to our room, again so unexpected, too beautifully furnished with 180 degree views out over the forest through huge glass windows.

It has a well thought out wardrobe & tea/coffee station area with a small bar fridge & a microwave with a few basic utensils & crockery enough to have a meal on the huge outside deck should you choose. This area leads to a huge beautifully appointed & finished en-suite bathroom.

We met Janet just before dinner & had a lovely chat with her, what a warm, friendly & engaging person she is! Our meal was absolutely fantastic, tasty & beautifully presented as were all our meals! Compliments to Portia who was in charge of the kitchen during our stay.

Thebogo & Thumelo were incredible & always on hand to attend to the guests in a relaxed but professional manner. The team was amazing!

To Louise, thank you so much for your prompt & helpful responses to my emails & queries, we really appreciated that tremendously.

This is a rare gem of a place with an excellent team and I could not recommend it highly enough for anyone wanting to get away to peace & tranquility. We will definitely be back!

We were blown away by the lodge, a tricky but scenic drive to heavenly bliss if you want to be covered by forest and your room settled in the forest. Whoever build this lodge on the river with streams and natural waterfalls, should get a gold medal. Dinning in open air weather permitted with water flowing as your background music, the food prepared by a professional chef with a pleasant surprise every evening with 2 options to choose from starters to desert. The website pictures don't justify the lodge, impossible to capture on camera. The rooms are a bliss with a small kitchenette and bar fridge take some snacks with for the room like chocolates and sweets and chips if you need to snack lol. The staff was awesome just can't do enough to please the guests.

I am the youngest of a family of 5 people, we were on vacation in this lodge for 2 nights. The reception was in my opinion very pleasant: we were welcomed with an industrial orange juice for me and my sister and a kind of red wine (according to my father's words) which is very nice. Our stay was very pleasant although I had to sleep on the floor on the sofa mattress because they had prepared a camp bed for me (which is very spartan for 2 nights at 750€). But otherwise the meals were also decent although the employees only warned us when paying that the starters were not included in the menu (which for the 5 of us cost R2000 (local currency). They did not hadn't even written the prices on the menus!!!. I also want to point out that they didn't give us the right room (having gone through an agency we didn't realize it right away) which forced my brother and my sister slept together. Very small thing also I had ordered a coke both evenings, the first evening I had a can while the second I had it in a verse with more ice cubes than coke and I finished it in 2 sips. But they charged me for the can.

Good Day Achillen, We are very Disappointed that you haven't experience our magical Forest like all our other guests! Your reservation was handled through a Agent as you know and our rooms Maximum Capacity is 4 or 2 Guests ONLY, your agent would pay for an extra room that's the reason that you had to sleep on a stretcher and this was already reserved & discussed like this 7 months before your arrival, the fee that you mentioned also include your Breakfast and it was actually R440-00 per night (that includes your Breakfast & Stretcher and Bedding and Towels) your account that you had to pay for 5 guests on check out was actually R1215-00 for the starters and drinks this was for 2 NIGHTS. (YOUR PACKAGE ONLY INCLUDE a 2 x COURSE DINNER - your agent has to explain this to you. The room allocated was the only room available and also this was also reserved 7 months before, and it was actually part of a 1 night Stay that we refunded you from the Covid stage, the bed arrangements wasn't discussed with us before arrival. Maybe next time rather book directly with us and we can make sure that you have a pleasant stay at Serenity Mountain and Forest Lodge.

Serenity at it's best, I enjoyed my stay. The lodge is peaceful, beautiful and the service is great. Their attention to detail impressed me, I didn't have to ask for anything during my stay, everything I needed was there when I needed it. I particularly enjoyed the spa treatment under the tree. Their staff Blessing, Tumelo, Walter and Brenda were amazing, professional and knowledgeable, Two things I would advise fellow travelers on is the distance from the N4 to the lodge itself, that 12km take 30min, do not arrive late at night when it's dark especially if you are alone. If you are going to spend a couple of days only go out for excursions the lodge has otherwise this place deserves to be enjoyed on site, on driving in and out of town.

We wanted a quiet couple of days after a stay in the Kruger National Park. This location was perfect and our mistake was not making more time in our schedule to stay there.
Make sure you note down the Gate codes you should receive after making your booking.
We were travelling with golf clubs and tried to get a game of Golf at Leopard Park, but this lodge is not affiliated. If you want to play there, use a Golf Break booking service. We played over the road at Malelane.
There are different menus for each night.
Rooms were a delight and thankfully we didn't have to carry our cases ourselves!
Refreshing swimming pool, probably fed from the crystal water flowing past.
Look out for wild life during the twisting climb through jungle to the property.
The owners were attentive and fascinating to talk to. Staff attentive.
Room well equipped, fridge, aircon and ensuite.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Serenity Lodge for 3 nights at the end of 2022. We were amazed about how tranquil and relaxing the place was and had a wonderful time there! Getting tours organized before coming was easy and everything that we needed to get organized was done swiftly and smoothly.

What stood really out to us the most was the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff on site without which our stay would have been only half as nice! It is rare to find such kind and well-trained staff (even though both of us travel a lot)! The only thing that could need improvement from our side are the vegetarian food options, as they were lacking a bit of creativity from our point of view.

We would be happy to come back soon!

This lodge is spectacular! Such a beautiful and indeed serene setting. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped. We also really enjoyed the food in the restaurant, and thought the staff were extremely friendly.

Unfortunately, it was too cold for us to try the pool, but it looked wonderful as well. All in all, I'd highly recommend staying here! We only stayed one night and wish we had an extra night or two here.

As a negative, the road to the lodge was... adventurous. We drove in a normal sedan and we really weren't sure the car was going to make it (it did!).

It really is pure serenity. Peaceful. Bliss. It’s hard to believe that a lodge with these facilities and options exists in the middle of the forest. Eco-built to preserve as much of the surroundings as possible, Serenity really is the perfect balance of nature and comfort all wrapped up in birdlife surrounding you 24/7.
