I've traveled around a lot and I can honestly say Bambuu Lodge has it all. Great location for surrounding attractions including Krugar National Park. Stunning private views over the lake. Well designed rooms with modern facilities and cool decor. Friendly staff who are always on hand. delicious food even though the menu is a bit limited and you need to order in the day for the evening meal the food is lovely and well worth it and reasonably priced. public areas are lovely and everywhere is impeccably clean. We were in one of the lakeview room 2 which was fantastic we even had a family of ducks who came to visit every day. Our son was in the main hotel and his room was very big and had a lovely view too. I would highly recommend this hotel for a couple looking for a romantic break or a family looking for a base to visit the surrounding area. We had a fantastic time and would definitely go back even though we didn't see hypos in the lake! (there aren't any) there is lots of wild life around and we did spot some monkeys in the trees and if you don't like frogs this is not the spot for you.

The location is awesome, directly located at a nice lake with a dining area directly there and very nice and modern decoration so that you really feel at home. The food and the service were excellent. We really loved this place. You will arrive at a gate of the Kruger in around 30 minutes or just start to the Panorama Route from there in only 15 minutes with very nice stops like a great view over the mountains and some nice waterfalls.
But you can also just relax and enjoy yourself at the pool or observing the hippos in the lake. We can recommend it 100%!
Best regards also to Gottfried and Moses, they were so nice and helpful.

My mother and I had an excellent stay in our Double Lake Room which we thoroughly enjoyed! The staff was extremely attentive, accommodating, friendly, patient, organised, hardworking, and catered to our every need without complaint. Simply a top-notch standard! They made us feel so welcome. Despite having what appears to be a slightly limited menu, the food was wonderful and I could tell that every meal I tried was well tested and perfected. The lodge provided the perfect amount of flexibility in that we could go in and out as we pleased (within curfew). Our room was beautiful and comfortable with everything we needed (including some umbrellas we could take out), and we had beautiful views of the huge lake and forest (not to mention a few visits from the hippos). A note for light sleepers: the frogs and crickets tend to get very loud, so maybe bring some earplugs if it might bother you (but it's all part of the natural experience!). Loved that with all that vegetation outside, the bugs stayed outside. I was very pleased that my allergies never acted up among all that vegetation though the room does sometimes tend to get a bit humid. Nonetheless, those elements did not detract from the amazing hospitality we experienced. Staff are willing to give suggestions on places to go and things to do (with some handy pamphlets). Our room was so affordable and truly the experience we got was worth far more than we paid. Value for money all the way and we are so happy and grateful that this was our choice for our first trip to Mpumalanga!

First of all, we enjoyed our stay but please pay attention to cleanliness found hair on the floor and shower, it feel like the room wasn’t really cleaned but always remember to freshen up the room even when it was vacant, we came from far we expected to be asked in advance if we’d like dinner or not it would be hospitable to ask your guests if they’ll like Dinner you don’t just you cannot offer dinner especially for guests traveling a distance and this could be a loss of revenue. We travelled in low car not knowing it would damage the car also state your road to lodge for people to know. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

We visited Bambuu with my partner and the first thing that was breathtaking as we were driving in at the night were the views. We received a very warm welcome from Selby who is a very funny and friendly host. He made sure we ate before he knocked off. I ordered the chicken curry and I loved it.

The rooms are clean and the cleaners clean daily although they only change linen after 3 days of your stay. Should you want to get them changed before the 3 days, it comes at a fee. the fridge will also be fully stocked and that too will be charged at the end of your stay. if you need to use an iron, you also pay and you go and iron out of your room.

Their breakfast if fair but all the other meals I ordered after the curry were not nice. the rice and chicken come with no stew. i asked for salsa and the chef told me its a favor, I'm supposed to eat the rice and grilled chicken like that.

In conclusion, I would definitely visit the place again but I will not eat there.

We book a lake room with a very impresive views of the lake. Strongly recomended to visit this beautiful lodge very close to the Kruger gate. The only this that it could be improved is the dinner service, it would be great to have the posibility to reserve a dinner in the restaurant placed on the lake.

Need to pave roads from entrance into the lodge. Road was terrible and not ideal for cars. Should offer wider variety of meals and extend meal times. Please include iron and bar fridge in the rooms , this should be a basic inclusion.

Returning after the enforced Covid break for our third stay at Bamboo lodge.
Great position between Hazyview and Sabie makes for easy access to KNP and the Panorama route
We were please to get our favourite room but slightly disappointed that we had no Hippos in residence this time.
Enjoyed a day relaxing by the pool after 2 weeks touring and nice to have food/drink available from the bar as needed.
Restaurant setup has changed and is now open to outside visitors resulting in a fixed menu rather than a daily (smaller) option. Food well presented and good quality but not so interesting as previously
Minor criticisms - no help offered with luggage on arrival, and it's a long way down a lot of steps to lug two large cases.
Wash basins in room blocked again - I had to fix this last time! Rooms need to be checked more thoroughly for maintenance issues.
At least the road into the property was a little better this time with an improved surface to navigate down the steep road and across the dam.
Overall a pleasant stay in a beautiful property despite variable weather! We will be back again.

Awsome. Awsome. Awsome.
The only minor negative was the comfort of the bed. The bed protector was a cheap plastic and kept slipping causing the sheets to shift.
The bed itself was not comfortable and neither were the pillows. Investing in a good hotel bed and linen would finish off this most wonderful place to stay.

Everym other aspect of this place is 100% perfect. Loved the location. The accomodation and the peace. Close to practically all the key destinations one woukd want to visit and about 20min. From one of the Kruger park gates.

Years ago we went to the restaurant. Does it still exist? We had good cocktails & Thai inspired food

Yes there is still a restaurant, but it's been a different set menu every time we went Can also still get cocktails on the terrace which is great, but covid did add few restrictions, as when we were there a few weeks ago, no dinner was served on sunday evenings, so make sure to check beforehand if the restaurant will be open
