A hidden gem in the Hazyview hillls. A lovely, romantic and quiet escape with the best views, great dinner, friendly staff and excellent rooms. Everything you need on your trip you’ll find it in the Ashbourne Lodge. Owner Rob completes your stay with great stories. Thank you for your watm welcome; we enjoyed every minute in your lodge!
This is one of the most magical and beautiful places I ever stayed. The views, the sunsets and sunrises, the food, the staff, and the lovely owners, all amazing. If I ever were to write another book, I would go here. The owner Rob gave us loads of great tips about things to do, but I could just sit here all day enjoying the views.
We spent 3 days in family at Ashbourne over a long rainy Easter weekend but loved the place. Rob was an amazing host and everything at the lodge is designed to have a wonderful stay. The sundown lounge with a beautiful view (the first evening was luckily not rainy), the various places to sit on the lawn, the 2 pools, the pond (the kids enjoyed jumping in the pond), the beautiful cottages with private plunge pools and terrace, the delicious breakfasts and dinners. It is also ideally located 25 min away from the Kruger park and the Blyde river canyon. There are also lots of activities in Hazyview.
What an amazing experience! Truly, this place is a hidden gem. Our unit had self catering facilities, all the amenities needed and was serviced daily. There where onsite breakfast that was so delicious and dinner was an option as well. Our unit had the most breathtaking views, as well as a private splash pool and outside braai. The property itself is beautifully laid out and well maintained. We where further accommodated on very short notice and received with great hospitality by the owner and staff. I cannot give this place enough praise!
My wife and I decided we would like to have 5 days to relax after a very busy 19 days in the Kruger Park and based on a friends recommendation chose Ashbourne and it was absolutely fantastic. This trip was a special one to celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary so we decided to book the Honeymoon Suite and it was a great choice. It gives you privacy and a plunge pool yet close to the rest of the facilities. We thoroughly adored sitting in the sundowner area watching the sunset over the Drakensberg beyond the Sabie River Valley. Rob and Dawne are the perfect hosts and are both a mine of information and just so helpful. Hope very much to return.
We booked here last minute and our host Rob was truly fantastic in welcoming us and our little one. We stayed in lodge room 2 snd we were pleasantly surprised by how big and spacious it was. It has a separate living room area and a massive patio with views that go on on forever. The only issue was that the roof was leaking in the sitting area in the room and I couldn’t open the wooden door of the room to go out. Required serious manpower. With all the rains the wood of course swells up and makes the door sticky. There are two cold water infinity pools available to swim in. The staff are exceptional people and special shout out to Charles and Chef for their outstanding service. Breakfasts were top notch. We enjoyed the fireplace in the communal lounge one cold wet evening. You also have a choice to have three course dinners at the lodge which is lovely if you are tired from a long day of sight seeing. Our room was cleaned every day. We loved our stay here.…
During these difficult times of covid, this is the place to go and clear your mind. The peace and tranquillity seeps into your soul. The views of the mountains and valleys are out of this world. This is the place to stay, Rob and Dawn are great host and always available to give you advice on places to go. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The meals are fantastic. I highly recommend Ashbourne, and can't wait to visit again. Thanks Rob and Dawn for the memorable stay.
We spent 4 nights at Ashbourne in November 2021, and were delighted with the accommodation, the views, the birdlife, the delicious meals and the very welcoming hosts, Rob and Dawne. The rooms are beautifully yet simply decorated, with every luxury provided. Views that go on forever, great location and delicious breakfasts” Rob is so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area, and provides wonderful travel and exploration tips. We would love to return.
I had the privilege to stay a couple of days at this establishment. All I can say is amazing...the owners are so accommodating and assist wherever they can to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast and 3 course dinner was exceptional !! The best part about the place is the quietness and the amazing sunrises and views from the property. i stayed in the room on top with a indoor shower and also a outdoor shower and bath. The view at night while you shower is amazing.
We - a family of five - were staying at the Ashbourne just two weeks after the looting which hit South Africa in July. The stay was wonderful - a perfect, relaxing place, great food, and a perfect host which took care of everything. Rob even helped with many tips for our trip to the Panorama Route, offering help in any case we would require a "South African Friend" - a wonderful hospitality. If we will have the chance to come back to Hazyview, we will for sure stay here again !
