AfriCamps is all about glamping at the most beautiful working farms, estates and reserves in South Africa. At each of our locations, you can get closer to nature without compromising on the creature comforts of home. Enjoy everything from hiking to hammocking, from seclusion in nature to romantic escapes, from family getaways to merry chaos with friends. The AfriCamps glamping concept offers guests the freedom and flexibility of a self-drive holiday, the closeness to nature of a camping trip and the luxury and convenience of a beautiful self-catering unit. AfriCamps at Mackers in Hazyview is magnificently set on the banks of the Sabie River. Ten self-catering boutique glamping tents are surrounded by lush green grass and indigenous forest. The camp is just a few minutes' drive from Hazyview, with easy access to Kruger National Park and the Panorama Route, two of South Africa's best-known attractions. Each AfriCamps tent consists of a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch, a dining area with a solid wooden table and seating for five guests, a fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms that comfortably sleeps five guests, and a bathroom complete with a hot shower, flushing toilet, and washbasin. Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen-size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains a single bunk bed. Our tents are equipped with air-conditioning and an indoor fireplace. Enjoy a braai on our spacious wooden decks and take in the views from the comfortable deck loungers. Pull up the front covers and transform the tent into a large outdoor living area. Unwind and appreciate a festive family breakfast while taking in the serene natural beauty of the South African landscape.

We had a great stay at Africamps! The tents were spotlessly clean, spacious, and everything is very well-organised. The nights were still a bit chilly when we were there, but we had everything we needed to keep us warm: an indoor fireplace, airconditioning, electric blankets... The breakfast and braai baskets were great and always provided on time! The views are amazing since the proporty is on the Sabie River, and we saw hundreds of birds, some of which we'd never seen before. The honesty shop is also very convenient to buy whatever you need, be it firewoord, drinks, food... very well-stocked.

Beautiful setting. On the edge of the Sabie river stands Africamp, a luxury glamping site equipped with tents equipped with every comfort. Very large and spacious bathroom, with very nice shower and hot water. They do not provide the bathrooms with shampoo and shower gel. Each tent has 5 beds: two double beds and a single bunk bed. The most beautiful part is the outdoor area, where you can put large cushions and relax overlooking the river, with space for a private barbecue. We used Africamps as a one-night stopover to go on a safari organized by them at the Kruger private reserve, the Sabie sand game reserve. Convenient pick-up service by car, they take you to the lodge in the private reserve where the safari takes place and then dinner. They will then take you back to the camp. Picnic breakfast, with both savory and sweet products (I don't recommend dessert, muffins and yogurt are quite poor). Even dinner and lunch can be booked and cooked in the tent. Obviously you have to clean everything afterwards. Presence of a nice swimming pool, with sunbeds and bath towels available. Daily cleaning service available for a fee if you stay for several days. Private parking for each tent. Small shop for water, souvenirs and food. Overall I recommend it as a stopover between the Kruger and the Blyde river canyon part (not for many nights).

The host, Ryan, phoned us in the morning, before we arrived to ask what time we'll be arriving and whether we have need of anything. He sms'd us on the night of arrival to check if everything was in order and then he stopped by before we departed the following day. Very friendly.
It is ideal for one family to stay in one tent and make use of the two bedrooms in one tent, but I wouldn't want to share the tent with someone or another couple I am not really extremely comfortable with since you have to share a bathroom and there is only a canvas screen separating the two bedrooms. It is very cute and very neat, and a unique outdoor experience, offering comfort whilst at the same time preserving that feeling that you are deep in the bush.
A fireplace inside the tent as well as electric blankets on the beds ensure that you are fine in winter. The small kitchenette contains all the important utensils.
The tents are numbered from 1 to 10 all along the bank of the Sabie river. The river is not deep or frightening as the current is not that strong along that stretch of the river. Tent number 1 is situated along the still water and tents 8, 9 and 10 are closer to some small rapids and are therefore not as quiet as tents 1, 2 and 3. This means that if you are a birdlover and want to hear birdsong more clearly, you might want to stay closer to tent 1 or 2 or 3.
Take your own drinking water along.
We drove a Toyota Rav4 going there and the road was not a problem.
Certainly hope to return there soon.

This was our 2nd time in Africamps (after Plettenberg) and again we loved the experience. We had the braai baskets in the evening and the breakfast baskets in the morning - highly recommend this. Honesty shop is very convenient. The owner was always there to help and very reactive via whatsapp. Very relaxing to wake up in the morning with all the nature sounds around us. During the day we visited Kruger and the Panorama Route (1 day per excursion). Don’t hesitate and book a tent here; you won’t regret it :)

An absolutely super AfriCamp, check-in was really easy and we were even greeted personally. Our tent was in a fantastic location, was very well cleaned and in very good condition. The braii and breakfast baskets were delicious, varied and very lovingly prepared. The pool was super clean and well maintained. The honesty shop has a really large selection, that should be standard in every Aficamp. Pig comes to visit from time to time and likes to be petted☺️. I would love to come back here.

The location is awesome, facing the river with the music of water flowing 24/7. Great tented experience for family and kids. Glad they had electric blankets and AC was chilly when we went. Over 1km of bumpy mud road to get to the tents, best minimise going back n forth on it.

Awesome to hear you enjoyed your stay at our camp, right next to the Sabie River. Thank you for your valued feedback. We've had some difficulties with the road in the past, especially after heavy rainfall, and do not recommend visiting in low-profile cars. If you have the option, we recommend an SUV.

The location is amazing, right on the Sabie River. Tents are beautiful, clean and has everything you need. At Mackers there was a large extra fridge/freezer facility at the honesty shop, which helped a lot, if you want to bring your own food. We visited as many as possible of the nearby attractions and enjoyed all. This is glamping at its best.

From the rolling hills to the endless forest & the meandering river this is an incredibly scenic and peaceful location. Each tent is well stocked with everything you'll need for an ideal glamping experience - a rain shower, wood burning fireplace, air conditioner, kitchen & comfortable beds. The campsite is well managed & there are countless day trips to help make your vacation unforgettable. I definitely recommend a private game drive into Kruger with Martin from Elephant Herd Safaris.

As newbies to camping (hence opting for glamping), Africamps at Mackers was the ultimate experience . Everything from their tranquil location to their impressive tents made for a perfect bush vacation.
The highlight of our visit was being escorted from the camp's entrance to our designated tent by the most polite host- a beautiful black and white dog 😊 he even kept us company on most days.
This was a truly memorable experience, one we will definitely do again soon

This was our first "glamping" experience and we were delighted with AfriCamps at Mackers. The tents (apparently standard in many of the AfriCamps sites) were beautifully appointed, very spacious and extremely comfortable. The Honesty Shop had a fair selection of basic foodstuffs, but I would recommend taking your favorite items along with you. The setting of the tents along the river bank was fantastic and you will be awakened by a chorus of birdsong every morning. A contactless check in process is followed. Once you have negotiated the fairly steep access road (don't consider bringing your sports car!), you will see your name on a board indicating your tent number. Drive to your tent, unpack, light the braai and just relax! Highly recommended!👍👍👍👍👍
