Laughing Waters Guest is 15kms away from Kruger National Park, on the magnificent Panorama Route. There are many golf courses close by, secluded accommodation in the heart of the beautiful Sabie Valley. It is a quiet haven with sub tropical gardens, an abundance of bird life. The eye catching Laughing Waters Guest House is well located in the Sabie Valley just out of Hazyview on the R536 to Sabie. To access it you journey through well established lemon orchards, over the beautiful Sabie River with its resident hippos and crocodiles and into a sub tropical garden incorporating majestic trees and shrubs with immaculate rolling lawns with a large swimming pool. The accompanying abundant birdlife gives rise to the evocative calls of fish eagles during the day and the haunting calls of the night-jars after dark. And above all there is an overwhelming sense of peace ! The Guest House has a Spanish feel and flair with high arches, slate floors and a central landscaped courtyard from which all rooms are accessed. Additionally there is a large indoor dining room for those cold mornings and an outdoor patio ding area from which the memorable Lowveld mornings can be enjoyed. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, bath towels, swimming towels, guest amenities and a tea and coffee station. Local area information brochures magazines and a comprehensive Laughing Waters Guesthouse information brochure, free Wi-Fi in all rooms. Secure parking in the Guest House grounds, a car wash service. Honesty bar and TV in the communal main lounge area. Hearty farmhouse 3 course dinners are available every night and may be arranged with prior booking. Kruger National Park, Panorama Tours and airport transfers can be organised for you, with refreshments and packed lunches for you day out. Hazyview town is 10kms away and you have access to supermarkets, restaurants and other amenities. Many golf courses in the area and nearby White River and Nelspruit. We have many beautiful hikes and cycle courses and we can also arrange a permit for fly fishing in the Sabie River right on the Guest House doorstep! We have an in-house tour guide to assist with any local information and areas of interest to visit.

The Villa is located on the road to Sabie, close to the Krüger main entrance.
We found there one of the finest and good value guesthouse we know in this region.
Heather and John are wonderful host and we really appreciate drinks and some diners (very fine food) we had with other guest and them.
We also love the pool, the pretty garden and overall the feeling of peace and wellbeing which make the atmosphere and “Laughing waters” a so precious place.
The rooms are large, confortable and even the bathrooms have a 70’s look, all is clean and well furnished.
No Tv in bedrooms but a very good Wifi connection for those who want to watch Netflix or their favorites films.
Thanks for this delightful stay in a lovely peaceful place nested among lemon trees over the Sabie river !

Laughing Waters could not have been more spectacular. The hosts Heather & John were delightful; in fact all the staff were great. The immaculate gardens, the cleanliness and the food service were all great. Laughing Waters provides breakfast for all guests but don't miss dinner, the kitchen is excellent. Heather arranged for guided tours of Kruger and the Panorama Route. Kruger, of course, is a must-do but don't miss the Panorama Route tour, also a must. John's knowledge of the area is outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit.

Wish we could have stayed longer to appreciate the property more, with grand old trees and amazing bird life. Wonderful guests that made us feel like family. We had breakfast that was very well presented and delicious.

The positive: Carol and Gavin (the owners) are very kind and friendly people. We always felt safe at Laughing Waters and on our tours. Carol arranged all of our trip details through their tour company, GAP Tours. GAP Tours is absolutely wonderful, I would highly recommend them! Gavin cooked our meals. Unlike other places where the free breakfast is muffins, cereal and apples, our breakfast was hot and made to order. Whatever you wanted. Everything Gavin made was fantastic! Our dinners were about $15USD and were delicious, made to order, three course meals with beverages included. He is an exquisite chef. I would recommend taking meals here and using GAP Tours for all your needs, but I would not recommend spending the night here.

The negative: The facilities are old and entirely outdated. It needs a serious overhaul renovation ASAP! The furnishings were at least 20 years old and worn out. The two armchairs in my room were threadbare and covered in layers of grime. The paint on the walls was cracking. Even the wooden ceiling was discolored. Spiderwebs along the walls and ceiling, under the side table and in the corners of the bathroom. I had a couple stains on my sheets, but nothing too major. The room did not have adequate lighting because the pull string for the light on the fan broke off. The worst part was the bathroom. Hands down the most disgusting place I have ever showered. See the pictures. Mold. Mildew. Cracking paint. Discolored tiles. A layer of dirt between the tiles and the paint. Missing tiles. A rusty shower caddy. Just gross. Carol stated that the black gunk you see in the pictures was not mold and mildew and dirt, but rather markings made from scrubbing during cleaning. Judge for yourself. She also stated that the place would be remodeled in 2016. Don’t stay here until after the renovations.

Our final stop after 3 weeks of travelling in South Africa. It couldn’t have been better! A very nice garden, big rooms, a swimming pool, very tasty food (breakfast as well as diner),... But the most important thing, the hosts were absolutely lovely! Heather and John are very kind and sweet people, they know exactly how to make you feel at home! Heather helped us with our bookings and John guided us perfectly through Kruger and the panoramic route. They’re not only nice to the guests but also to their staff. You can feel the love in that place. We’d recommend it to everyone!

Cheers!

You couldn't ask for a more welcoming, attentive staff. The food was plentiful and excellent. Everyone who worked there was genuinely interested in their guests. Even though our room was very clean, the bathroom tile and other parts of the rooms needed some serious updating. From what I understand, the current managers will not be there after January 2017. What made this place so wonderful was the warm, friendly, and helpful service. I am not sure it would have the same charm when the current managers leave. Another tip: If you are not worried about driving on the left side of the road (as I was), I would recommend renting a car as this location is in a beautiful rustic area and not close to any type of shopping.

It is a nice building and surrounding, but all a little old and not as clean as you would expect in this priceclass... breakfast was as well a little less great than what we experienced in all other guesthouses.
