Detailed Reviews
The rooms are wonderful and luxurious. The hosts are very friendly and are always ready to help you plan the day or give some tips of what to visit and where to eat. It is situated in a very quiet and residential neighbourhood with a cozy restaurant 3 min away.

This beautiful lodge is perfect for couples or a small family. We stayed in the self-catering unit and it was equipped with everything you could possibly need. They also have BnB units. They have a lovely pool and braai area for use as well. The lodge is very near to the mall (5 min drive) which has all the essential shops one might require.
It is only about 1.5 hours to the Three Rondavels and shorter to Pot Holes and God's Window. It is very close to a Kruger national Park entrance as well.
What sets this accommodation apart are the owners, Phil & Margi. They are extremely friendly and welcoming making you feel right at home. They are very thoughtful about their guests and will go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable. We even had a few drinks and chatted with them on one of our nights there.
If you are going to stay in Hazyview, stay at Blue Jay Lodge! We will be going back :)

I cannot say enough good things about Blue Jay. The owners are so kind and accommodating. They do everything in their power to make sure you have an amazing stay. This is about 15 minutes away from Phabeni Gate of Kruger park. There are also plenty of restaurant options in the area. The room has so many thoughtful touches. During load shedding certain lights in the room are still functional, as well as the ceiling fan. The breakfast is made for you individually when you sit at the table. If you are doing an early safari they pack you a nice breakfast to go in a lunchbox. If I ever find myself in the area I will absolutely stay at Blue Jay again.

+1
We had previously stayed here in 2017 and when we were planning our trip this year, we had no hesitation in choosing to stay at Blue Jay Lodge again. Margi and Phil are excellent hosts. The booking process was easy and any queries/questions I had were answered promptly. They provided easy to understand directions from the airport and recommendations for local restaurants. Our accommodation was excellent and very comfortable. We chose the bed and breakfast option and the breakfast was amazing - included a full cooked breakfast with eggs of your choice together with fruit, yoghurt, meats and cheese together with a choice of teas and coffee, all of which set us up for our day of sightseeing. It was also lovely to enjoy a sundowner with them both after a long day sightseeing. Ideally located to visit Kruger National Park and to do the Panorama Route. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here and look forward to returning again in the future.

Used the town of Hazyview as a base for my journey to the Krugerpark and surrounds. The closet entrance to the park was close by and getting in and out of the park was easy. The went to Graskop and Blyde river canyon. As I left early morning 6.00 am the hosts left me a cooler bag with breakfast items. There was decent coffee in the room. The gardens at the Lodge were peaceful and there was a splash pool to cool one self after a days sightseeing. Recommend.

We have never seen a property maintained with as much attention to detail as Blue Jay Lodge in Hazyview. A central starting point for day trips along the Panorama Route of the Blyde River Canyon and the Kruger National Park. You can rely on the hospitality of your hosts Margie and Phil. When they recommend a special place, a restaurant or a nice route, they will not be disappointed. The stay at the lodge will be a unique feel-good experience due to the care of the team.

We stayed for two nights at Blue Jay Lodge. The accommodation had every amenity we could wish for, comfortable bed with mosquito net, large bathroom with bath and shower, comfy sitting room and kitchen should we wish to self cater. Our hosts Phil and Margi were welcoming and produced delicious breakfasts both mornings. The Lodge is the ideal place to stay as it is situated near to the Kruger National Park and Panorama Route.

We spent a lovely night at the Blue Jay en route to the park. Phil and Margi could not have been better hosts and the rooms had every amenity needed. We particularly enjoyed the fresh coffee in the room which is unusual. Definately should be top of you list of you are looking for a great place to overnight in Hazyview.

We spent a couple of nights at Blue Jay Lodge with Phil and Margi.
Situated in Hazyview it was really convenient to entering Kruger Park via the Phabeni Gate. Phil is incredibly knowledgable about the area, providing great advice…prior to visiting SA communication by email was first rate and spot on!
Our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely bed linen.
We have travelled extensively in SA over a number of years and the breakfast at Blue Jay Lodge was up there with the best.
