It was a perfect start into our holidays. We enjoyed the stay in the lodge around the beauftiful garden. The breakfast on the terrace and the breakfast box for safari is very delicious. Margi und Phil are the best host, they are so friendly and helpful. We are thankful that we met them and could be part of their life.

Phil and Marge are great hosts. The accomodation is situated in a nice green garden, which gives you the idea of being in the jungle. Very good breakfast! Also the staff gave a great service. When we ever come back to Hazyview, we will stay here again!

Philip and Margreth made our stay fantastic. The romantic rooms, great breakfasts (also to-go when on safari), and lovely converstations made that we had a more than perfect stay. Phil and Marg made us feel welcome and safe. We could ask for anything. They booked our safaris on the day of arrival and made sure we hadnt had to do the morningsafaris on an empty stommach, which was great. As a couple who love to do some safaris, but also want to rest, it is a great lodge. Philip and Margreth, hope to see you another time and thanks for everything!

Lovely and tranquil place to stay. The rooms and grounds are beautifully presented, so much attention to detail. Margi and Phil couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and communication was fantastic. Breakfasts were delicious. We had treatments in our room from a lovely lady called Anna which was all arranged by Margi and Phil. The whole experience was wonderful and we would highly recommend staying at Blue Jay lodge.

We went there for a tour from the Kruger and Panrama route, the location is really good for both purposes. The hosts are very friendly, they are always there if you need help. The rooms are very well decorated and spacious and you have everything you need there. The only problem we had was with the WIFI, because the signal was very poor in our room. Despite that, the room is amazing, clean, cozy, with a huge bathtub if you want to take a hot bath to end the day relaxed. Phil and Margie are amazing hosts and we would definitely recommend Blue Jay.

Thanks for your review Fernando. It was great meeting you both and glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We did explain to you that during Load Shedding the Wi-Fi is slow as the Towers also function on Batteries during the outages and that obviously affects everyone in the area.

It felt a bit like visiting friends. After being in contact for almost 3 years, I finally met Phil and Margarete, wonderful hosts! And what a place.... Beautiful rooms that leave nothing to be desired. A wonderful garden to relax and from day to day a more personalized breakfast. What can I say? 6 nights and 5 perfect days that I can never forget. I will be back, that's for sure. Thanks for the wonderful memories I have taken home with me. The time around the fire was really special to me!

Thanks Karin for your review and we are pleased that you enjoyed staying with us. You arrived as a Guest and left as a friend. Interesting that even though Covid delayed your travel plans together we remained in touch for as you said at least 3 years and in that time friendships were forged and solidified on your arrival here - very special indeed. See you again hopefully but we will be staying in touch till then. Best regards Phil & Margi,

We came here after a few days in the Sabi Sands reserve in Kruger park. The quality of the experience and the lodge was what we needed after a few days in the wild. The Blue Jay Lodge had over 100 tree species, birds, and plants so we continued our thirst/hunger for nature and wildlife that was agitated by the beauties of Kruger :) Phil & Margie were our hosts, and they are incredible human beings - always thinking about how they can improve our experience while we were there. I loved that we could just engage them in conversation and ask them virtually anything, especially trying to understand South Africa a lot more. They sent us to G's Bistro, which is a local dining establishment that we loved so much that we went back two nights in a row. They sent us on an excursion through the Panorama Route that let us see the beauties of the Blyde Canyon River. They set us up (by our request) with two incredible masseuse on the property for a couple's massage. And lastly, they made sure we were able to get a on-time transfer back to KMIA/MQP airport to make our flight back to Johannesburg. We hope to come back to Hazyview to visit Phil and Margie and the area again some day. We had such a fantastic time! Would highly recommend.

We have never seen a property maintained with as much attention to detail as Blue Jay Lodge in Hazyview. A central starting point for day trips along the Panorama Route of the Blyde River Canyon and the Kruger National Park. You can rely on the hospitality of your hosts Margie and Phil. When they recommend a special place, a restaurant or a nice route, they will not be disappointed. The stay at the lodge will be a unique feel-good experience due to the care of the team.
