From the moment we stepped onto the lobby deck and were handed a steaming, peppermint-scented towel, we felt the tension and exhaustion from our 4 hour drive from Johannesburg evaporate.

Tamsyn coordinated the whole experience: Meal times, spa times, and drive times were managed with grace, efficiency and professionalism. Dan, our highly knowledgeable and amiable game ranger made the game drives fun, interesting, and informative. The restaurant staff accommodated the various dietary restrictions in our group with ease. A special shout out to cheerful Elena, as well as Chef Maria and Chef William for creating mouthwatering and delicious meals.

The tents and accommodation were ultra luxurious with beautiful antique furnishings and exquisite linens.

We were pleasantly surprised every day with an experience that was fun and delightful. Our favorite excursion was the picnic by the river. The scenery alone was breathtaking. We received a VIP lunch that would have been at home in any romantic reality show.

If you have travelled extensively, and are looking for a unique, luxurious experience, this is it. You are off the grid, with only solar and WiFi being your source of power and connection to the outside world.

Thank you to the staff and management for a wonderful experience.

We had a fantastic family stay in Tintswalo. The lodge is eco-friendly nested in the trees and surrounded by the bush, the staff is extremely friendly and we had fantastic game experience with our very experienced ranger (thanks again Morne !). The reserve is almost pristine and we had the feeling to have it entirely for ourselves and had chance to see very closely lions, cheetahs, etc...

We celebrated our anniversary at Tintswalo Lapalala and enjoyed exceptional service on our two night safari weekend away. Our luxury Maasai room was beautifully appointed and we enjoyed the privacy and tranquility it provided. The private plunge pool and hanging chairs were a treat. Thank you to the team at Tintswalo and we hope to return again soon.

Tintswalo Lapalala is a wonderful undiscovered jewell - for starters it is a very easy 3 hour drive from Joburg, compared to the sometimes stressful 6-7 hours to the lowveld reserves (we managed to just sneak in for a weekend when it briefly opened during Covid lockdown).

Then when you get there one discovers an amazingly professionally run game lodge, extremely high service levels from dedicated happy staff, beautiful accommodation with a tasteful Out of Africa feel, most interesting game drives (from in our case the incredibly knowledgeable Corne) with some different game (e.g. roan, sable), delicious food (where the quantities are sensible) etc etc.

Importantly there is a high eco-friendly and conservation ethic at this lodge.

Holding thumbs that the pack of wild dog currently being introduced, actually stay within the large Lapalala reserve. But whatever the outcome, we are lucky that there are people like the Corbett family (owners) who are prepared to invest heavily in wildlife conservation.

Go to Tintswalo Lapalala, you won’t regret it.

Tintswalo Lapalala is a gem within the waterberg with truly amazing experiences given to guests traveling. The staff gives an amazing feeling of warmth and excitement and is always friendly. The lodge location is spot on with a lot of animals visiting the water hole breeding excitement when sitting on the deck watching them up close. I recommend this to everyone seeking a bush experience!!!!

A stay at Tintswalo Lapalala is pure luxury with a 100% eco twist.
We stayed in the Himba tent, which I have booked again, as it has a direct view of the watering hole in the camp.
Every need has been thought of and the attention to detail in the decor, room amenities and dining experience adds to the experience.

In between all the delish meals and relaxing there are game drives to see the scenic Waterberg, and the best part is the lack of dust and traffic on the roads!

Tinstwalo Lapalala is well-run and the staff are efficient, friendly and make the experience.

Where do I begin? Tintswalo Lapalala is like something from a fairytale! It’s an experience like no other… and the memories of our stay will be with me forever.

Everything from start to finish is FIRST CLASS! We arrived and we couldn’t believe the surroundings - breathtaking, immaculate and just out of this world…

Tamsin and her staff go above and beyond to make your experience incredible!

The food was delicious… so fresh and beautifully presented…

The rooms are stunning with beautiful touches left each night…

Mike our guide was an absolute legend and we loved spending every second on our game drives with him!

In the space of two days - we had already seen 4 of the BIG 5… and we were literally blown away!

The activities for the children were just wonderful… they had so much fun and a huge choice of things to do!

I will never forget the experience we had at Tintswalo Lapalala… we did go on to another safari lodge after but it didn’t live up to a fraction of the experience we had at Tintswalo.

This experience is once in a lifetime for me and my family and it’s something I will treasure for the rest of my life…

I believe that if you are going to go on an incredible safari trip then you must go to Tintswalo Lapalala to get the full experience of a first class safari Lodge that offers incredible accommodation, food, staff and guides!

Tintswalo Lapalala will always hold a place in my heart, forever.

We have mixed feelings after visiting Tintswalo Lapalala. The reserve is a jewel. It is beautiful landscape, with almost no lodges and tourists. However the game is not that exciting. The lodge was a disappointment, though. We expected high standards from the Tintswalo brand, however we have been to many better quality lodges in the area and the country.

When we arrived we got a lukewarm welcome: cold, smelly facecloths to freshen up with, unkept deck, worn furniture and finishings.

The room was spacious and had everything we needed. However, not very clean, stained linen and minibar (not included in the all inclusive rates!) stocked with stale crumbled snacks.

The food was mediocre at the best of times and the pricey wine list did not have that many quality wines. The first evening nobody even bothered to light the fire on the deck, a major failure when you welcome guests to the bush.

Our guide was great and we tipped him. The rest of staff not. But unfortunately this is one of the lodges telling you how much you should tip each person.

Staying at Tintswalo Lapalala was an experience I cannot recommend enough. From the moment we arrived we were taken care of by the incredible staff, and even the drive into the lodge was a highlight, with Mike stopping to show us animals frequently along the way. Mike was incredible to be both our tracker and guide, and we learnt so much in such a short space of time. Between Mike, Graham and Daniel, we had a super memorable and exciting experience getting to see so many incredible animals including lions close up and cheetahs. We also went on a river barge ride and fishing which was a very special experience. The lodge itself was luxurious and beautiful, with animals commonly stopping past, and the most decadent rooms imaginable, upkeep by the amazing staff. The food and service was impeccable with local gins, tonics, wines and beers, and delicious food. I cannot recommend staying here highly enough.

Wonderful service, food and rooms. We really enjoyed our stay at Lapalala. Everyone there wanted to make sure we had the best experience and were more than helpful in making sure we were happy with our rooms and our overall experience. We stayed at the tented rooms, which were clean and spacious. We had hot water bottles and a lit fireplace in the evenings in our room. I do wish we could have seen more of the Big Five, but other than that, it was highly relaxing and enjoyable.
