Detailed Reviews
Our family spent 10 days here for the Christmas and New Year's Holidays. The overall facilities and site are great and offer a lot to do and see. The chalet was comfortable and had most of the necessary requirements.
What I did notice in 10 days though was the total lack of management. Having worked in Hospitality for 2 decades I can comfortably tell you that you did not focus on your food and beverage earning potentials. For holiday resorts that could be up to 80% of your bottom line and none of your facilities even had a FOH Manager to speak to. Very sad news for your stakeholders I am sure. Staff in the take away and the restaurant had no synchronization and this left many potential Guests just walking to the shop for other options. They were not trained either so each of them had their own ways of service and their own sequences to follow. 3 meals in 10 days and each with different standards and sequences. Consistency in any business is key. Pool entertainers were also, to put it lightly, boring and bland. This is a holiday resort and requires some sort of entertainment and excitement. This was not managed correctly either. Even more alarming is that on a busy afternoon during an activity a gentleman fell down and winded himself but you had no health and safety personnel around to assist him! This is a disgrace and your key focus is your swimming pool area. You display a sign saying no lifeguard, fine, but your Customers well-being is your business and this should be corrected.
As mentioned the pools are great and the warm indoor pool is amazing. A couple of small issues with the servicing of the chalets as well, even calling the manager seemed not to have much effect. A few things for the resort to focus on but a nice and peaceful place, lots of potential and for what you pay I feel a bit of improvement is needed. Will be looking out for other feedback from friends and family who also frequent the resort.

I remember visiting Weesgerus when I was a child. Last time about 15 years ago. The pool area and supertube is still stunning, but there are a lot of little problems. Broken appliances and utensils in the units. Personnel that seem irritated by the guests. No dishwashing liquid, cloths or oven mitts. It’s not bad, really, but competes poorly with similar resorts that are the same or even cheaper in price.

We have been visiting Weesgerus for the last 25 years however this will be our last.
Communication from Management is non-existent. Power was off frequently and on the Friday and Sat for a very long period ( throughout) the night. The ablutions were pitch dark and nobody even bothered to bring a lamp or something to help campers.
no generator in this day and age , even if it was just switched on for two hours to heat up the water in the geizers.
We understand that Covid has made it difficult but then at least inform or explain to guests what is happening. Examples : The dam lapa is advertised but nobody is informed that it is not operating. The grass isn't being cut. The shop is almost empty. Shop hours not displayed. Bins were only emptied twice in 4 days. With the covid regulations still in place on level 3 we thought that the camping circles would only be allowed to have 50% of its normal capacity of campers as the ablutions should be servicing only half .
I don't know whether there is new management but it is sad to see such a great resort being neglected. The dam lapa area as well as the bottom end of the dam and the pool which is normally open for day visitors, is in a very bad state. Even though day visitors are no longer allowed, it still needs to be cared for as it is part of the resort

The pool facilities at Weesgerus are fantastic. Lots of space, sun and shade, chairs available, shop on site, supertube that works nicely, and public bathrooms that are nice and clean.
The accommodation on the other hand was extremely disappointing for the price you pay. The accommodation is very overpriced. We rented a 6 sleeper as we are a family of 6. The cabin (C5) was dark, dingy and smelly. We were told in a letter ahead of check-in that they provide only the first roll of toilet paper and you have to provide your own after that. I'm sorry but for almost R4600 for 2 nights, I expect to get toilet paper provided for my family. We did not even get ONE toilet roll, luckily we brought our own. The toilet door was full of some brown splatter, which is not what you want in a bathroom. Probably oil for the hinges, but no matter, it should have been cleaned. The surfaces in the kitchen were dusty and dirty, not nice. No proper light in the bedroom, only 2 bedlights, of which only one worked.
The 2 bunkbeds in the hallway are sort of embedded in the wall, I would have liked the top one to have a little more railing to stop children from falling out as they would be met by a brick floor. Cold tap in the bathtub was stuck and could not be opened, and shower left a lot to be desired.
Once in the chalet, there are signs by the taps that you should not drink the tap water, but must buy bottle water, I wish they would have told us this BEFORE we checked in so that we could have planned for this and bought some bottles.
Believe it or not, we are not actually difficult customers, but for the price you pay, which is very high for what it is, we expected a lot more. At least enough toilet paper, a heads up about the drinking water, lights should work, kitchen should be clean and a nice touch would have been for the resort to provide the first bag of wood for the fire (would have cost them nothing out of the price they charge) but no big deal.
On top of that you have to check out early which is non-negotiable (9am checkout) because they have to deepclean the chalets (for COVID which is understandable) but they I expect the chalet to have BEEN deepcleaned when we check in too.
The 2 bed chalets had much more space and bigger bathrooms. We should have booked 2x 2 bed chalets with extra beds for the same price, and had much more space and 2x bathrooms. Maybe next time...but don't think we will be back.

Our first time camping at this resort. The images and reviews looked great prior to booking, but we were disappointed. It is Lockdown level 1, and the indoor pool is closed, the Dam Lapa is closed (which we were really looking forward to), and the restaurant only serves takeaways. Our camp site was without a braai (each stand is supposed to have their own) and after asking employees for one, they said they would bring one but they never did, we had to go find one ourselves. At least the ablutions are clean. Won’t be back in a hurry.

My husband and I went to Weesgerus for our holiday in Feb 2023 because of the long hours we work and the type of business we have (so Feb made sense for holiday)
The first half of the stay there was peaceful and so relaxing… but here comes my issue. The indoor pool water was barely warm, nevermind hot. We paid to swim indoor every day and when we asked for the temperature to be turned up, we were ignored.
Then, weekend came and children were splashing, screaming, jumping and throwing balls in the indoor swimming pool. The parents were even worse. When we complained and asked if it was allowed, we were ignored yet again.
So my rating is average because of the staff’s attitudes towards guests and their absolute ignorance for their guests experience.

We visited December 2022 and we really enjoyed our stay in 6 sleeper Chalet, swimming pool wow 👌 We booked again for this December 2024 and my family can't to be there.
Maybe if you can add atleast one toilet roll per day.
I also recommend that you do not charge a fee for indoor swimming pool.

What a wonderful place to spend if you require relaxing and tranquility. The facilities is in immaculate condition and kept pristine. All the pools are sparkling blue and kept clean every day. The walkways are all paved and the chalets are well stocked with all amenities one needs. Highly recommended.

Disappointed that the dam lapa is closed and restaurant only serves take aways.
The resort is not staying in line with other businesses as per lockdown levels. We have been coming here for around 20 years and it is sad to see the place being neglected.

The best will be to look on their website as there are different types of accommodation and bigger and smaller chalets. Their tariff page can be viewed on the website as well.
