This is our second time here. We came here to celebrate our 16 year wedding anniversary.

On google maps the location is incorrect as it pins the turn off the main road and not the actual location. The lodge is approximately 3km from the main road.

Checkin was good and we were given a welcome drink. Covid protocol was followed and staff were welcoming.

We stayed in a luxury tent which was beautiful. The room was clean and nicely made up. The mini bar has water. There is no cellphone or internet connection in the rooms and you need to use a walkie talkie but it is a hit and miss. The jacuzzi was great and the loungers on the deck, however there is not table or chairs for outside seating. If it’s windy the tent can be quite noisy for sleeping.

The service and the food was mostly good and the staff were trying their best. You do get the feeling that the place is a a bit rudderless and missing a captain.

Sometimes we couldn’t get hold of anybody over the walkie talkie, other times the service was suboptimal (no wine by glass. Sherry was off)

The spa was underwhelming and depressing and the the flotation is still under maintenance as it was six years ago.
The massage was done with latex gloves and the experience was not was you would expect from a place that markets itself as a spa. We would not recommended this spa at all.

Taking into consideration that covid have wrecked havoc for many establishments you so feel that this place was particularly hard hit. It’s a shame because the framework is there however the lack of attention to details. The property requires some serious maintenance attention to detail.

This place has such potential, however as it is we would not return here again.

Leeuwenhof Country Lodge & Garden Spa is a true gem. We enjoyed the tranquil setting, great service, deliciously prepared picnic, and the opportunity to pick strawberries ourselves on the adjacent strawberry farm. The road leading to the Lodge is unpaved and a bit tricky to drive during heavy rains. Breakfast and dinner were included in the daily rate. The quality of food was excellent, however, the service was a bit on the slow side and there were limited vegetarian and child-friendly options available on the a la carte menu. There is a lovely pool next to the spa and wild animals can be spotted from close range. The rooms were very welcoming, spacious, comfortable, and clean. However, there is no wifi reception in the boutique rooms. Wifi reception is only available in the lounge and dining areas. Adding wifi to the rooms would be a great benefit, seeing that there is no cellular reception on the property. We will definitely return to this amazing place.

We stayed one night and was fairly disappointed about the facilities:
The air-conditioning and DSTV in the room did not work. We were offered an alternative room at 8pm.
The towels smelled awful.
The jacuzzi did not function 100%.
However, the food was excellent. The chef knows what hecis doing.
The ladies at the spa was outstanding.

The 1st warning signs was when I requested a confirmation 7 days after making the reservation and was told that there was no booking on the system. The lady who answered my call was rude and it was not possible to speak with a manager. The next day I communicated with the manager and requested a refund. I was asked to please re-consider and that I would not be disappointed.

When communicating with the manager she apologized for the fact we were not offered the midweek stay deal which included dinner, spa and a full body massage. I was told for the price I paid it would also include champagne and rose petals on arrival.....disappointed is an understatement!

The staff member on duty was professional and tried his utmost best to make us feel welcome. We reserved a tent-suite, exceptionally warm on arrival and the aircon not sufficient, specially when all the windows are covered and curtains closed midday, to no surprise there was not fresh rose petals and champagne on ice. When I asked the staff member he had no idea what I was talking about but said that he would arrange for it to be in the room upon our return from the spa.

Arriving at the spa for our full body massages as confirmed with the manager I had to argue with the therapist on the treatments booked, according to her it was body scrubs and not massages. This was embarrassing to say the least. My husband had to drive back to our unit to fetch my phone in order for us to proof the treatments that was included.

Dinner was scheduled for 19H00 and room service was offered. At 19H30 my husband went to the reception to ask if he could assist to take the food back to our room. The steak was prepared well but the starter and desert is not recommended, the creme brulee a complete disaster.

When making a reservation at any establishment the photos we see plays a major roll in our selection and preference on the establishment and the room we select.
It creates an expectation and if you can't deliver on the expectation please remove the images from your website.

I have to say that the tent suite is beautiful. The jacuzzi however needs maintenance and maybe worth to mention these tents does not have TV/ DSTV nor a dresser, hairdryer etc.

This was our 13th wedding anniversary, not what I imagined and not recommended.
Our local spur and my own air conditioned bedroom, hairdryer and dresser would have been a better experience. No wifi available and no cellphone reception at all, difficult if you want to contact to check on the children or have a business that operate 24/7 and no one can get hold of you.

I do again have to give credit to Kagiso, he was the only positive factor to the entire experience.

I can guarantee that there will be no response to this review other then the pre typed response send to all other complaints, all exactly the same so basically in general thank you for giving us your money but we do in fact not give a damn!

It turned out to be a dissapointed planned romantic anniversary/birthday present. Not worth the money! I’ve asked for special arrangement for the room which we didn’t get. All the windows were closed early afternoon and bed was already made at 13h00. Jacuzzi was off. Linnen was in poor condition, tent linen had water stains. Floor mat in the room was wet and outdoor furniture was stored within the room that made it conjested. Overall maintenance in room is poor. Food order is not what you receive, chewy and blunt. The comunication used (radios) insufficient as at some time we were not assisted when calling from tent camp. You are not suppose to hear cows at a lodge. The SPA couple treatment was done by amateurs compared to other experiences, unprofessional and not worth the price. The staff were at least friendly, kind and helpful. The place was beautiful and location was fantastic!

Pictures on website is misleading!
NO MAINTENANCE AT ALL!
The Luxury tent's inside is o. K.
The waiter must run his butt of to provide warm food for roomservice.
The outside shower does not work, our jaccuzi's element burnt, we couldn't use it. Toilet leaking. Homemade strawberry icetea was superb on arrival, but when we ordered, there was nothing. Simple beef burger, they advise they don't have patties, but it is on the menu. With the picnic, the bites have been prepared 3days in advance if you ask me. Our last breakfast I ordered Cuppichino, I'm still waiting for it... Just the worst experience ever... This was suppose to be an anniversary breakaway.

The whole property needs upkeep from the spa, floating pool the steam rooms bedrooms everything. We were booked in a room where there were old balloons stuck to the ceiling bedding was dirty jacuzzi was not clean.... The tented camps were better
The mountain bike trails where closed because of overgrown trees you can even walk the tails. The cuisine was also not anything that I had at a 4star lodge I will really not recommend anyone to book there

A beautiful property, with a warm welcome by staff put us in high hopes for a lovely weekend visit. Main area is nice yet the room (Tau Suite) was so damp due to indoor jacuzzi the water damage was evident everywhere and everything was damp, even the towels and linen. If you are going to have a large jacuzzi indoors, you need to manage the humidity. Room also looks old and ill maintained, and with the damp I’d frankly knock it down and start fresh. No hairdryer in room, when asked for one (twice) at breakfast they told me they didn’t have one (at a 4 star establishment?). This should be mentioned in the amenities list if not provided as it’s standard practice in other venues. Meals were average, most of dishes, including the buffet breakfast were not hot yet I only sent one back as it was not just cold but undercooked. Floor staff were trying their best considering there were only 2 of them yet manager seemingly only there to welcome and check out, not visible during any other meal service times when extra hands were needed. All in all, room was a massive let down but hopefully other accommodation options they have are better maintained, very expensive for what you get.
