We spent 4 nights at Leshiba in the Farmhouse. It was extremely well equipped and comfortable for all the family. The food was excellent and all the staff made us so welcome. The walking and game drives were enjoyed by all the family. The sunrises over the mountains were very special. Would have no concerns about recommending Leshiba to anyone.

We booked high-end suit, and took high-end package, we were very disappointed, it seems like there are serious budget constrains that are disadvantaging the customer. Maybe self- catering option will be more valuable.

What a special treasure nestled in the Soutpansberg wildreness. Hamasha Camp is everything a family could wish for to get away from the city & enjoy the peace & tranquility of nature. Adventurous hiking in the day & star-studded nights around the fire make this a fabulous place to get away from it all. The camp is so well stocked with everything well thought out. We could have stayed for a month & will be back!

Our experience at Leshiba Wilderness was very bad we were dealing with very unprofessional stuff, not kind and made our trip very bad traveling all the way from Gauteng to be offered bad services, the road to get to the lodge is in the worst condition were we are forced to pay for their transport to arrive at the lodge at an extra cost because the fail to fix their roads ,the parking area is so bad with no security,no proper gates which forces us to even cancel the reservation. The experience was the worst.

Response from Kathryn Straughan, General Manager at Leshiba Wilderness

Good Day Israel I have read through many of our previous reviews and the one stand out comment in almost all of them is about our professional, kind and considerate staff. In light of this and taking into account that all of us at Leshiba pride ourselves on our hospitality and service delivery, I would like to respond to your review as follows. When you called to book with us for a last minute late booking, we went out of our way to accommodate you. You were offered a discounted rate and it was carefully explained to you where we are situated on top of a mountain and that our gravel access roads are not suitable for low clearance sedan vehicles. You clearly acknowledged this and confirmed that you understood and made the booking with us. We offer a mountain transfer service at an extra cost and you chose to make use of this service. We do not own the property where our guest's vehicles are parked and have an arrangement with our neighbour for vehicles to be parked on his property at our guest's own risk. This is normal as no parking area anywhere in the country holds itself liable for anyone's vehicles. The majority of our international guests make use of this service and in 30 years we have never had anyone complain about it. On arrival at the parking, you were angry and you refused to leave your vehicle at the parking. Our guide contacted our Reservations lady who went out of her way to try and understand your point of view and you were verbally abusive towards her to the point that she was in tears. She then contacted me and I spoke to our guide and explained that we had no alternative parking options other than bringing your vehicle up the mountain and we tried to reassure you that your vehicle would be fine. You were not open or willing to listen. You demanded a full refund from us. Our policy clearly indicates that same day cancellations are not refundable and yet we refunded you in full. As a responsible consumer, you chose to come to us. You went on to our website and we can only assume you saw where we are located and read through our offerings. You chose not to leave your vehicle and to cancel your reservation even though you were treated with respect and understanding and that we went out of our way to try and reassure and accommodate you. We find it very distressing that you have felt the need to slander our service and professionalism with a salacious review that is not factually correct and gives people an incorrect view of all that we are and what we offer. We are very clear and honest about the fact that we are an off road destination with gravel road access. The area where your vehicle is parked has a locked gate and we find it unfortunate that you felt that you would rather cancel your reservation and not experience our outstanding hospitality and very special destination rather than leave your vehicle at the parking area. We have reported your review to Tripadvisor for incorrect and damaging information and should it remain here, we hope that people will take the time to read our response and consider that you had a very brief interaction with us, that we went out of our way to be kind, understanding and considerate and that you chose not to stay with us, not because of any bad service on our behalf but rather because you chose not to leave your vehicle, a decision made by you that was completely out of our hands. I hope that they would read our other reviews and see that this is an isolated incident with no real reflection on Leshiba or our service.

Leshiba is a phenomenal experience. The views are amazing and the people at Leshiba warm and welcoming. We learned a lot about plants, wildlife and ancient rock art on the bush walks. We should have stayed much longer and will definitely return to this wonderful exceptional place.

I had the fortune to visit the Leshiba Wilderness. This is Earth as one wishes it to be: clean, green, wild, with gorges and rocky crags, extraordinary wild animals and the milky way above one's head at night. With hiking trails into gorges and onto mountain tops, and game drives, we had an extraordinary time. Everything at Leshiba is personal, even the animals, it all feels accessible and friendly, even though it is the true wild. In a nutshell: It was very, very hard to drive away. And i will certainly return.
