My husband and I run 2 guest houses so we know what it takes. Gail was the perfect host (although we never met her as it is such a peaceful retreat). From the time of booking the trip we were informed and the stay was ideal - complete with complimentary Amarula and Ferro Roche chocolates. A delicately raked river sand garden, outdoor bath, and a splash pool to add that extra touch. At this price we will be returning on a regular basis.

Zvakanaka is a beautiful farm with amazing wildlife and a variety of interesting plants/lichen. The trails are great, and the view from the top of the mountain is breath-taking. We really appreciated how private our stay was, it felt like we were the only people on the farm. The cottage was lovely and so well equipped- it was as convenient as being at home. The attention to detail is very impressive, Gail and Al even provide you with bird seed so you can watch the birds in the morning. The outdoor bath was awesome, you can drink your complimentary Amarula in it while watching the clouds roll over the mountain. Just incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very sad to leave. Thank you Gail and Al!

Ashleigh, Thank you SO much for taking the time to write this wonderful review!! I am only sorry the weather didn't treat you to pool-wallowing time! BUT, there will be a next time. And it is a pleasure for Al and I to host guests like yourselves, who revel in all the little details the mountain has to offer! All the best and if we don't see you before the festive season, have a safe and happy one! Warmest wishes, Gail and Al

This review is a bit delayed. We stayed at the cottage last year in October. We stay 2 nights on our way to Kruger, Pafuri camp. This was our first two nights after a long flight from CPH and such a beautiful place to start our holidays in Africa. Cottage had every thing you need for a comfortable stay, view was fabulous. We would definitely stay here again.

I have seen dozens and dozens of campsites in South Africa, but this is by far the best one I have seen. Everything is just perfectly organised and everything is in a very good working state. You get your own private little roofed campsite with stoves, cattle, sink, dustbin, fire- and braai place with free firewood and even crushes Baobab fruits as firelighter. There is even a washing machine and a place to dry your laundry. And a fridge! Never have I seen such good service on any campsite! The toilets are very clean and the showers are very nice. And there is even a swimming pool and an uncapped Wifi Hotspot. Surely they must win an award for service. Then the campsite lies on the most beautiful property in a very natural surrounding. There are even very well-maintained hiking trails on the property, you don't even have to leave camp to do activities. The owners and staff are also very friendly people and really want to see their visitors happy. I was always welcome for a chat, and I got a lot of advice from them. They even organized me access into a difficult to access nature reserve. Lastly, for birdwatchers like myself, the farm is a birders paradise. Species encountered on the property include specials like Eastern Nicator, Crested Guineafowl, Narina Trogon, Crowned Eagle, ALL the Robin-chats, etcetera. The farm is also located in a prime location for birding day trips in the Soutpansberg and it is a good stopover place for people on their way to Zim or Kruger Can't wait to be back here!

Lovvveedd this place! I wish we had spent more than 1 night here. We do a lot of camping and this is our favorite campsite we’ve ever stayed at! The property is so beautiful and peaceful with great views. The campsites are wonderful. Covered patio with little kitchen area, clean bathrooms, and washing machine available for use. The owners were super friendly and helpful. We also had a car problem and one of the workers went way out of his way to help us fix it. We will definitely be back!
