Perfect location. Wonderful hosts. Excellent food. Very comfortable accommodation. The host and hostess bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. Perfect for day trips into the Kruger Park or for overnight stay en route to Mozambique
Crocodile Bridge Safari Lodge is ideally located : you could walk to the park entrance and you may spot lions, elephants and others from the terrace of the lodge (or the terrace of your room if you have one facing the river). You will be very well welcomed and attended by the team, Alan & Bruce and their wife are super hosts. The best moments at the lodge are evening braii time before and after diner talks around the fire facing the park under the moonlight (or following animals with powerful flash light). I recommend this lodge which is excellent value for money. Be careful went programing your GPS, many places are called Crocodile Bridge something, the 4 words are needed. The lodge may arrange day safaris in the park with a professional guide for very affordable price.
We stayed for four nights in a luxury tent at Crocodile Bridge Safari Lodge. Right from the electronic gate activated through the guest's phone number to open or close, ensuring safety, to the lovely hosts - Ilse,Bruce,Alan and Michelle who catered to our every need and were hands on getting things done, be it checking us in or serving us and providing fascinating stories and tips, they are the best! The tents are air-conditioned which are a big relief for the scorching heat of the day and have fully-equipped ensuite bathrooms, as well as a fridge, drinking water and tea/coffee maker with adequate storage space for clothes, etc for guests staying longer. The lodge also offers free wifi. Our hosts kindly arranged for a full day safari for us with a private safari guide in an open-safari vehicle with the option of a packed breakfast or cooked breakfast en route thrown in. Dilan the guide was very knowledgeable and thanks to him we spotted two leopards and a cheetah with her cubs feeding - all rare spottings we are told. He also cooked us a mean breakfast at the Lower Sabie picnic site and provided blankets as well for the chilly morning breeze. Back to the lodge - the view is majestic - sunrise or sunset or all day long watching different animals and birds come to drink water at the river or feed on the plantations around, all just separated by an electric fence between the river and the lodge - so you have a feeling of seeing the animals up close. We also enjoyed the al-fresco dining with delicious breakfasts and dinners by the pool, prepared by the very capable Sarah and Ilse with everyone eating together like a family on long tables, as well as a typical South African braai almost every night under the stars, and the evening conversations with other guests exchanging Kruger sighting stories daily, around the makeshift wood fireplace outside. JC and Jock, the friendly property dogs also ensured there was never a dull moment. The whole atmosphere is very homely - they allow you to cook your own meals in their kitchen should you wish and there is even an 'honesty bar' for those who have forgotten to brink their drinks - although drinks are limited and the lodge doesn't have a full-fledged bar, so they always advise you to bring your own booze. You wake up to the sounds of noisy Egyptian geese chattering and go to sleep to the sound of hippos snorting - a true wilderness experience!…
Accommodation is very good and the location excellent - just a few minutes and you are in the Kruger park. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Food was good. Room verandah overlooked the Crocodile river and hippos, crocodile and various other animals could be seen.
Beautiful friendly atmosphere place will definitely come back clean food awesome best hosts knowledgeable owners are the best east way into the park and we were rested and happy my happy place well done!
