Nestled amidst the lush vegetation in the South-Western corner of the majestic beauty that is the Kruger National Park. Jock Safari Lodge emerges at the pinnacle where the Mitomeni and Biyamiti rivers flow as one – a space for breath-taking wildlife sightings. The lodge with 6, 000 hectares of natural landscape offers guests one of the best Big 5 game viewing experiences in South Africa with its exclusive riverbed traversing rights. Traverse through this exceptional landscape on twice daily game drives as well as wilderness walks with highly experienced game rangers and witness an abundance of bird life and a staggering diversity of wildlife, including the endangered wild dog. Enthralling sightings of elephants, prides of lions as well as a sea of buffalo horns rising from the grass as they lie resting in the growing heat, awaits one. Rich in historical heritage, Jock is the first private game lodge within South Africa’s largest national park and was inspired by the well-known tale of Jock of the Bushveld by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, a story of courage and loyalty set during South Africa’s first gold rush era. This colonial styled safari lodge offers guests a unique stay, showcasing elements of history, fauna and flora, tranquillity, conservation and fine cuisine in the 12 individual thatched suites at the Main Lodge or 3 luxurious suites at the nearby Fitzpatrick Lodge.

We had an updated modern room with a view. Check-in was friendly with a smile. We had a lovely view of the African bush. There is a 'locals' restaurant within walking distance. The check-in person also offered a room service but we chose to enjoy the night out at the local restaurant.

Jock Safari Lodge was an incredible experience. Our excellent guide (Jacob) introduced us to the wonders of the bush. More than the big five, we saw several colorful birds, small animals, monkeys, bird's nests, turtles, wild dogs, among other animals. Until the last day, we haven't seen the lions because of the rain in the previous days. However, our ranger pursued them until the last moment, and we saw them. Jacob didn't disappoint us and showed us the big five and the other beauties of this magical place. Jock's is as much about conservation as it is about hospitality. Our room had a Victorian bathtub, a tiny plunge pool, a double bed, and an enclosed large mesh tent. It is a verz romantic place, and the food was incredibly delicious.

Absolutely amazing lodge. Breathtaking. The staff were the best ever, could not do enough for you. Very attentive and welcoming. The food exceptional…. The variety was perfect. Especially as we stayed 4 nights, they cleverly mix up the menu and where you eat, so it’s always a different experience and you definitely don’t get bored. So it could either be a buffet bbq or a la carte lunch but with different twists and locations…. Our guide was the best, hail David!!! My girls absolutely loved him and he made our break all the more enjoyable with his wealth of knowledge and experience and story telling. Thank you David for being so brilliant my teenagers didn’t have an issue getting up at 4.15 am to go on safari 😂 would love to return and stay longer, as every trip out was a different experience and I’m sure there’s so much more to learn.

Our safari experience at Jock Safari Lodge was just awesome. The service is friendly and welcoming. It's premium (hot towels anyone) without being starchy. The rooms are comfortable with a private, secluded terrace with an outside sleeping area if you're brave enough. There are water filters in the dining room and reception area so you can fill up your water bottle. The game drives can go on the private tracks in the concession area as well as on the public roads through the National Park so you see so much more. So many highlights - lions feeding, driving up the dry river bed and seeing elephants up close, tea made over an elephant dung fire, the hyena feeding her baby... so many animals in their natural environment. Total respect for our ranger, Lazarus, for sharing his encyclopedic knowledge and genuine love of the area. Things I wish I'd known: we had quite cool weather and it did get quite cold in the open-sided vehicles. Fluffy blankets are provided and I was glad of my woolly hat but wished I'd packed a second pair of walking trousers and another sweatshirt. We rented some binoculars from the lodge but wished we'd had some of our own. The wifi was a bit unreliable. All in all, a 5 star experience

A long (years) overdue review to one of the most magical places I have ever visited. The stay was actually at the Fitzpatrick's at Jock (the private villas), but both are equally perfect. I had very high expectations in general for the Kruger as it was one of my childhood dreams, but the 4-day stay at the Jock went beyond anything I could have imagined. The facilities retain a warmth, organic feel to the experience of wilderness of the Kruger. Every detail is thought-through, inside and in the outside facilities, so even if you just stay at the lodge all day, you will certainly enjoy the surroundings and the animals that come by. The private rooms are very spacious, meticulously decorated and serviced, and the glass wall overlooking the small river and hills allows for many animal sights: one included a herd of elephants walking through the river and then very quickly climbing the hill (!). The entire team, from management to the chef, could not have offered a more welcoming, impeccable service, from the very early safari drive to the dinner, they transformed everything into a memorable experience. The genuine passion and expertise of the safari guide (Estian) for the Kruger wild life only added to the magic. The Jock's location made it ideal to explore by car the mid-south region of the Kruger, even up to Satara, down to Skukuza, the Lower Sabie, all the way to Crocodile bridge -- wonderful drives with unforgettable sights during the day, only to return to a luxury of warmth to enjoy their amazing dinners. Among the three wonderful lodges I stayed during my visit, The Jock remains the highlight of that most precious week. Absolutely to return.

The lodge is located by a riverbed in the middle of Kruger National Park, far away from the public eye. From the moment you arrive, you immerse yourself in a completely unique world, receive a warm welcome, and are well taken care of. The lodge is beautifully designed, the path to the rooms feels like a small jungle, and there's nothing lacking. The rooms are absolutely stunning, and the private area is fantastic. Whether it's hot water bottles or the amazing outdoor bed (definitely sleep outside!), everything is just perfect. The staff is world-class and super friendly. I would like to highlight Patrick, our personal guide (definitely inquire about his availability beforehand). I've had a lot of experience with safari guides in my life (both professionally and personally), and I must say, I've never met such a capable guide. The safaris were incredibly amazing as a result. We thought on the first evening that it couldn't get any better, but Patrick just kept delivering, unbelievably. Whether it was the 21 rhinos in one evening or the many leopards, we were simply overjoyed in the end :) But I also want to give a big shoutout to the food! Apart from the safaris, you won't want to stop eating (in a positive way!) because everything was incredibly delicious. And we were always well supplied with drinks as well. We even received our own water bottles to bring along on the safaris. All in all, a highly recommended experience, and definitely book several nights! It's worth it!

Jock Safari Lodge Kruger National Park….magnificent. Beautiful setting, lovely accommodation, wonderful food….dietary requirements honoured. Staff delightful, and quietly attentive. The managers instilled great attention to detail, from cleaners, cooks, and ground staff right up to the top. Guides and managers passionate about conservation and the animals on the reserve. The safety of their clients was paramount, and the respect and understanding of the animals deeply impressive. 5 stars is not enough!!

Absolutely outstanding! We had the most incredible time here. From the moment we arrived we were treated with the upmost care, with friendly and personal attention that was impeccable from start to finish. The most beautiful location, fantastic service and incredible food, especially regarding the three vegans in our group who were brilliantly catered for. Our guide was outstanding, we saw so many animals, all with great respect and honour, great wisdom and humour, which totally inspiring! We will all never forget this wonderful experience. An amazing experience!!
