From the moment we were served cold hand towels and mint tea when we arrived at Hamiltons to the African farewell song and dance by the staff, our family of 8 was awestruck by the beauty, serenity and luxury of the camp...both the surroundings and the staff. We started with a safety orientation like no other and within an hour we were on our first safari seeing animals we had only dreamed about walking within yards of the vehicle. Our meals were incredibly well prepared by an on-premise chef with wonderful selections to choose from. Breakfasts after our morning safaris were especially delicious...probably because we were up at 5am. The friendliness and service provided by all the staff members only added to the wonderful experience we all will remember for the rest of our lives.

Hamiltons Tented Camp is an absolute dream! Our family of eight adults stayed for three nights, booking four of the six stunning tents. The experience was flawless—elevated by having our own guide and personalized dining service.
February was an incredible time to visit—lush landscapes, abundant wildlife, and so many baby animals! Across six game drives, we counted 1,800 animals (yes, we kept track!)—from majestic elephants and giraffes to lions and rhinos.
Beyond the safari, Hamiltons offers next-level luxury. The accommodations feel like a scene from a classic safari film, with every detail as beautiful as the website photos. The food was phenomenal, and the service was truly world-class. They even arranged seamless airport transfers, making everything stress-free.
This is a premium experience, but every moment is worth it. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime safari, look no further than Hamiltons. We can’t wait to return!

I don’t write a lot of reviews…but when I do, it is because I was sincerely humbled and amazed by what I experienced.
Our 3 day visit to Hamiltons Tented camp definitely requires writing a raving review.
The accommodation is beautifully decorated, spacious, comfortable, elegant, neat, well kept and is reminiscent of the age of silverware and crystal glasses.
The lodge is nestled alongside a dam that attracts so many interesting animals over and above the game drives. From Elephants swimming with only their trunks sticking out, a herd of waterbuck rushing through to the other side, to baboons and bush bucks playing together, just to name a few. The last night, as we drove back to the lodge, 8 lions came walking towards us!
The food was amazing!!! I promise you won’t ever get hungry and every meal and bite tops the previous! The wine selection is carefully curated and consist of a superior selection of complementing wines.
Last but not least and probably the most important, is the hearts of the management and staff. Never have I experienced such kindness, caring and pride taken before.
I salute Hamiltons tented camp for the beautiful gem it is…
THANK YOU for making these 3 days SO memorable!!!
You have left precious ‘tracks’ in our hearts and minds. We will see you again!

Hamilton's Tented Camp was our third stop on our safari adventures this year. The facilities were beautiful, decorated in a by-gone era decor and located on the banks of a river. The camp only has six rooms and each room has its own private splash pool. The wait staff and the. manager were always very friendly and helpful if we needed anything. Before our arrival, we had to let the staff know if we any dietary restrictions. I have a nut allergy and this was made known before our arrival and was discussed as we checked into the camp. I had to refuse and return food on 3 different meals, because the food contained nuts. The manage reminded the kitchen staff again, but I was still brought food that contained nuts. At this camp, the game drivers had to stay in the roadways and could not drive off road to follow any of the animals that were spotted. This was kind of disappointing as far as viewing the animals. On our last game drive we came across an elephant in musk and he was not a happy fella. Instead of being cautious with the approach, the game driver revved up the engine and drove toward him, backed up and did it again, then raced around the elephant. I and another lodge guest were extremely uncomfortable and frightened by this action. Maybe the driver knew what he was doing, maybe he didn't; but I have always heard never drive toward an angry elephant. Hamilton's tented camp has luxurious, private rooms, but the bad out-weighed the good at this camp for me.

Staying at Hamilton's was an incredible experience. The staff are excellent - very friendly and accommodating and the food was unbelievable. We had Ostrich, Kudu and a wide range of other foods all of which were prepared by their staff of culinary experts. The rooms with their view of the river were also clean, well maintained and the small refrigerator was stocked with drinks. Additionaly, our guide Hali was exceptional. His tracking skills, and wildlife knowledge made for an excelleant trip. He knew we were very interested in the bird life and went out of his way to provide opportunities for bird sightings. We also went on a walking safari which was an unbeleiveable experience. We truly hated to leave. If you want a true Africa safari this is the place to be.

Hamilton's was a wonderful experience. 3 nights in luxurious accommodation and exemplary service by the local dedicated staff. The food was outstanding, the staff very kind, helpful and funny. Nothing was too much trouble
It is a private 10,000 concession inside Kruger and so the experience was very intimate.
We rose at 430am each day for a pre-dawn safari before returning around 4 hours later for a sumptuous breakfast. Morning tea, lunch high tea followed before heading out on safari again around 5pm for another 4 hours or so. Dinner followed our return.
We spotted, elephants, giraffes, hippos, rhinos, leopards, hyenas, buffalo, lions and dozens of other species. It was truly a trip of a lifetime.
Our guide, Harley, was amazing in his knowledge, humour and ability to track the most elusive of animals. He also mixed a mean sundowner drink in the evening light.
The tents were huge with a separate relaxing lunge, a pool and even a bath. Bedding was huge and very comfortable.
I would highly recommend Hamiltons to anyone considering an African safari.

We were at Hamilton tented camp for 3 nights. On internet it is advertised as a private game reserve of approximately 10 k hectares. We ended up doing half of our drives in Kruger public part crowded with private tourist vehicles. The reason to go public side was that the guides were saying there was a lot less animals on their private side. It is not the experience you expect at this price point. On the public side, it is not possible to off-road when you see an animal. It highly impacts the quality of your sightings and for me it is the main reason to pay the high price of the private lodges. We also couldn’t off-road on the private side. As a result we had 2 leopards sightings of 3-5 seconds each and weren’t able to follow to view them longer. This poor game drive set up is the same at their 3 lodges Imbali, Hoya hoya and Hamilton tented camp.
Our fist guide was also not great with communication of trying to find and stop for animals that interested us and we requested to change. He also drove the exact same road twice 2 days in a row when there was other options we told him we were interested to see. The second one, Hali, did a great job. It is the reason I put 2 stars instead of 1.
The lodge, room and food were good. Our problems was with the game drive dynamic for the price we paid. Also a few items were not 5 star level, for example the placemat and tissue napkin were stained and looked unclean at every single meal. The alcohol selection included is very limited.
We were in contact with management to request to leave 1 day earlier and get a refund as we felt we didn’t get the experience we were sold. The camp was also almost empty so it is not like the lost a sale. They were not accommodating at all

The camp is laid out along a small dam, with each suite and the main lodge connected by wooden walkways. The colonial decor adds an element of opulence, but was not overwhelming. The slipper bath had an outside view, and the outdoor shower was a lovely experience. The simple food was delicious, and fresh and generous quantities. A limited wine selection, but what was on offer was decent. The birdlife in the area is really good. The rooms are equipped with AC and hair dryer which worked well but be reminded that there is no mobile phone signal at all for most of the concession and area of the Kruger that the guides traverse.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hamilton's for 3 night's and it was truly spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm and friendly staff who were quick to remember our names and treat us as friends. The limited number of tents here (only 6) meant that the hotel was never above a capacity of 12 people which allowed the staff to be attentive and accommodating to our every desire. Nick was our game driver and he was funny and engaging as well as very informative and knowledgeable with all of the animals and wildlife we saw. Ronaldo and Yan made our meal times fun and enjoyable, providing nice conversation and jokes while we ate the delicious food. The food was cooked according to your menu choices and was different every day. The choice and amount at each meal time was plentiful; I promise you will never be left hungry while staying here! The rooms are impeccable; tidy, spacious and well stocked with all of the amenities and beverages (both alcoholic and soft drinks), cleaned twice daily and well maintained. As well as your game drives, the fact that the lodge is not fenced means you can expect to see wildlife roaming freely in close proximity to your room, the walkways and the restaurant area. Thank you to all of the staff at Hamilton's for making this stay one we will never forget!

This was not our first visit to Hamiltons, and once again, our expections were exceeded by the staff of this establishment. Staff are professional, friendly and they go out of their way to ensure that all your requirements are met. Tents are large (& airconditioned), well equipted and the outdoor shower something special. Food at Hamiltons is exceptional and the Chef ensures that all your dietary requirements are met. Our ranger was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to ensure that our viewing experience was memorable, but always taking the animals into consideration (this is something which we as a family admire).
Our sincere thanks to everyone at Hamiltons for ensuring a memorable staff.

Hello, credit cards can be used, but if everything is paid for in advance, you don't really need them.
As far as plugs are concerned, I think it's type D, but a worldwide adapter is necessary and practical.
Hi Adrian M - Thanks for your questions!
With us planning to stay late May/early June 2021, would there normally be water running in river (for that time of year)?
It would be highly unlikely although not impossible depending on the amount of rainfall.
We are trying to get a better understanding of the game drives, so we have a few queries:
The whole concession is 10 000 hectares in size we do drives mostly on the concession but we do however move off the concession from time to time.
One of the main aspects for us is the “window seats” in the 4x4’s. We understand that you have a maximum of 6 guests in your game vehicles, is this correct ?
That is correct yes for Hamiltons we only allow 6 people per vehicle.
o How many vehicles do you have operating at once ?
Out of the whole concession and all three of the lodges we would have no more than 8 vehicles operating at a time
Are your rangers able to give us photographic tips along the way - any keen photographers ?
All our guides are keen photographers / not professional but definitely keen
We hope this helps!
There are more places to choose from in the Kruger National Park area.
