Named after Colonel Stephenson Hamilton, who was instrumental in establishing the world famous Kruger National Park, Hamilton's Tented Camp reflects a safari adventure of the early twentieth century, where grace and style were the epitome of luxurious living. Historically themed along the lines of a big game hunter’s camp encompassing the bygone era of the early 1900’s, Hamiltons Tented Camp allows indulgence in pure luxury, combined with the sounds and smells of the African bush. Six magnificent canvas tents, complete with teak floorboards, dreamy mosquito nets and a superb view of the seasonal river, are linked to the main lodge area by raised timber walkways amongst ancient Jackalberry trees. Uncompromising elegance and breathtaking beauty identifies Hamiltons Tented Camp with open tented lounge, butler service and personalised cuisine. All tented suites have a romantic slipper bath and outdoor shower overlooking the Ngwenyeni Dam, private veranda, air conditioning and an intercom service.Spa treatments are available in the privacy of your room. Safaris in 4x4 vehicles, bird watching, self drive in the Kruger National Park and guided safari walks by prior arrangement.Children over the age of 8 years are welcome and are accommodated in their own room. The camp is situated in a malaria area. Gate entry fees are applicable and charged per person per day.

We have done many safari/game reserve trips. Hamiltons stands out as a unique and excellent experience. The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is great and abundant, the setting is superb and as close to nature as you can get, the experience is very intimate, and you cannot get a closer encounter with a leopard than what we had.

What a start to my week - all the gravel roads to Hamilton’s had been closed because of the heavy rains ... made a call and no problem for the staff, sent someone to meet me and was escorted to the lodge. This is when you know you are going to get five star treatment. I was warmly welcomed and my tent for the week No 1 - the tents are linked to the main lodge by raised timber walkways with giant jackalberry trees providing shade. The balcony was a treat with a view of the river, an outside shower also with a view. My bed was comfortable, a tea station always stocked, and it was elegantly furnished colonial style. But I was not here for the accommodation - here to see wildlife and learn more about nature. I was not disappointed as my guides (and staff) were all very knowledgeable and at times it was challenging for them as the rain did make for limited access to the roads - this however did not dampen their enthusiasm. Meals at the lodge were fabulous, tables set perfectly and accommodating staff. I was really spoilt and felt like I was the only one in the Tented Camp. Thank you

We ended off our stay at Hamiltons with 6 nights. What a pleasure to stay there. Perfect in every way. Location on the river bed - walking on board walks, lovely accommodation. The pool was most welcome in the 45 degree heat. Food and service is outstanding. We were guided by Nicholas and then Shaun - excellent guides. As usual all staff go out of their way to make guests happy and comfortable. We will definitely return.

Rhino Tears and Tall Horse? Seriously? They couldn't find worse freebie wines even if they tried. Just not good enough for an upmarket establishment. The food was good though, and plentiful - pre breakfast coffee and snacks, then full breakfast after a great game drive, then lunch, high tea and then dinner after another great game drive! The tented rooms with outside showers were lovely, except for our first night which was in the dreaded room no. 4. Room no. 4 is under a huge tree which is a regular overnight choice for a troop of baboons. While I realise that it's natural for all mammals to defecate and urinate, to have your tent roof bombarded all night is not pleasant at all! Management moved us to no. 6 the next day, which was a huge improvement. Game in the area is abundant, so the game drives with knowledgeable guides were fantastic. We can't wait for our next trip in April - this time Hoyo Hoyo being our lodge of choice. So why not 5 stars? The terrible wine and steep pricing, even at lockdown special rates!

This was not our first visit to Hamiltons, and once again, our expections were exceeded by the staff of this establishment. Staff are professional, friendly and they go out of their way to ensure that all your requirements are met. Tents are large (& airconditioned), well equipted and the outdoor shower something special. Food at Hamiltons is exceptional and the Chef ensures that all your dietary requirements are met. Our ranger was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to ensure that our viewing experience was memorable, but always taking the animals into consideration (this is something which we as a family admire). Our sincere thanks to everyone at Hamiltons for ensuring a memorable staff.
