Named after Colonel Stephenson Hamilton, who was instrumental in establishing the world famous Kruger National Park, Hamilton's Tented Camp reflects a safari adventure of the early twentieth century, where grace and style were the epitome of luxurious living. Historically themed along the lines of a big game hunter’s camp encompassing the bygone era of the early 1900’s, Hamiltons Tented Camp allows indulgence in pure luxury, combined with the sounds and smells of the African bush. Six magnificent canvas tents, complete with teak floorboards, dreamy mosquito nets and a superb view of the seasonal river, are linked to the main lodge area by raised timber walkways amongst ancient Jackalberry trees. Uncompromising elegance and breathtaking beauty identifies Hamiltons Tented Camp with open tented lounge, butler service and personalised cuisine. All tented suites have a romantic slipper bath and outdoor shower overlooking the Ngwenyeni Dam, private veranda, air conditioning and an intercom service.Spa treatments are available in the privacy of your room. Safaris in 4x4 vehicles, bird watching, self drive in the Kruger National Park and guided safari walks by prior arrangement.Children over the age of 8 years are welcome and are accommodated in their own room. The camp is situated in a malaria area. Gate entry fees are applicable and charged per person per day.

We had a great stay for 3 nights at Hamiltons Tented Camp. Would highly recommend. The renovated accommodation tents with a private plunge pool , tented luxury lounge, with mini bar is a very welcome addition to an already greatly positioned camp in the Kruger National Park..The staff and food was outstanding as well as good game sightings.

We arrived on 31 august, takes 2 hours to get to camp as it is speed limit when you get to gates of Kruger National Park.We never done safari or visit Africa before ,so I only can explain about our experience and what is it about but can’t compare,so we arrived around 14:40 to camp which only got 6 tents along the river ,which wasn’t very full but water was present and by tent 1 we had hippos family with baby ,which we watched every day and a massive crocodile 🐊,welcome was very warm by Johan and what a gentleman he was throughout our stay ,we thank you !very fast check in ,we got last tent number 6 and you walk on a bridge ,not over the ground, which we preferred!room was amazing and very private with pool and chill area, well stocked fridge outside and 2 sun beds ,in room you have bath and also separate shower, bed is awesome and very good mosquito nets ,you also get Sherry in your room which was a nice touch ,room get cleaned daily and towels is white and fluffy ,thank you again!! Everything is operating on time,we come out from room fast as at 3pm you get tea and coffee and cakes and at 3:30 you get into safari jeep ,we had Suit Boy with 15 years experience, and thank you again and again and again for all your knowledge and amazing safari, you have only 6 people if the camp is full, and it’s 2 jeep they have in a camp,so you don’t have anyone seats in a middle, which makes perfect for couples to slide towards the side if you see animals and you want to take pictures.Around 17:20 Suit Boy finds open place where he sets front of the jeep into bar,you get asked before safari what drink you would like for sundowner,we always like champagne 🤩,we was very nervous about coming on a ground,as they don’t have guns with them and I get scared ,Incase lion or leopard will get you ,I did ask Suit Boy how fast they will move and what do we use to scare them,he just laf ,so guess you get the hint ,run towards the jeep 😂😂😂!at the time of sun going down you get incredible silence on the bush and best sunsets we ever seen ,and we travel a lot ,but bush delivered for sure!!Then you drive in darkness, they always lower lights in a car and use torch,so they don’t blind animals ,they don’t chaise them if you see them far on a distance ,you take it as it comes ,it’s a pure luck if you get close but also makes you feel nervous as jeep is open and Suit Boy always said to us be aware !! You returning to camp exactly at 7pm and oh my god ,the transformation is incredible!!!Candles everywhere, they wait with hot towels and you can seat by table all ready for dinner, you do not go back to room, you eat first .Food was out of this world ,thank you chefs!! It’s all inclusive camp,so you have wines, champagne, beers and service with smiles and jokes from Moffat,Jan,Silence and the rest of the team ,sorry I can’t remember all names ,but from the bottom of our heart ❤️ you made our stay unreal, romantic, unique, special,so back to food ,you make a choice in the morning for lunch and dinner ,so dinner is very chique and you feel relaxed immediately as you seat down. After dinner most people return to tent and someone walks with you to your tent as at night you not allowed to walk by yourself, room already made up for night ,mosquitoes nets down and you get slippers and robes and a bed time story which was again fantastic touch!you have walkie-talkie in a room and that’s the only way you can communicate if you want anything or in case of emergency!Morning wake up is at 5am or 5:30 with a knock on a door ,quick dress up and you in reception, where tea and coffee ready, drink and on a jeep ,you get back exactly at 9am and they waited on you with cold towels and breakfast set up ,you get station with fruits, cold meats, cheeses ,yogurts, juices ,water and champagne 🥂,also they serve hot breakfast and the views always was awesome with hippos and elephants 🐘 and crocks, also we had baboons first morning we had breakfast, which I spotted by tent 1 and I completely freak out,as prior camp we was in Cape Town and we was told how they can get and attack you as people feed them,so I was in panic and Johan reassured me that it’s fine and they don’t feed them there so they will not do any harm towards us,thank you again as I was ready to hide in a toilet 😂😂! After breakfast you can have shower and chill out at your room,by pool or chilling area and watch animals!which was a gift from the bush !!lunch served between 1 and 2 ,and we would dress up nice 👌 and chill out !At 3 you ready in safari clothes for tea and cakes and fun 🤩 starts again ,it was very cold in the mornings and then in the evenings, but you also get warm fluffy blankets in a jeep’s so make sure you do have warm clothes that time of year, not sure how is it when you get into proper summer,so remember we come at the end of winter ,beginning of the spring!I can definitely say it was good time to visit as grass in very low,and dry so you can see animals especially leopards, lions, hyenas, wild dogs, silver back monkeys,of coz you see elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and so on!We was lucky and very greatful but please remember it’s not a Zoo and they can’t make animals come to you ,or even tell you if you will see any when you driving ,it’s all pure luck, they very good to recognize foot prints and droppings ,and even smell but again it’s a luck of a draw!We was very lucky 🍀 and your camp absolutely unreal place ,sooooo romantic and perfect, people are so kind ,we are very privileged to visit you and I hope we be able to come back soon, from Olha and Matthew thank you all you are the most amazing, beautiful people and we wish you all success and many more years to share all your incredible knowledge with people 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

From the time we entered Hamiltons to the time we left, we were spoilt by all the staff. The welcome, the service, the safaris - I can't ask for anything better. Adi, our chef, was exceptional - The food was delicious and beautifully served. He catered to our every need. And even made us the most delicious butter chicken curry and malva pudding - which was not on the menu. The entire decor and ambience of Hamiltons transported us back in time - An awesome "Out of Africa" experience. Thank you to everyone for making our stay absolutely unforgettable. We will definitely be back.

Hamilton's Tented Camp was our third stop on our safari adventures this year. The facilities were beautiful, decorated in a by-gone era decor and located on the banks of a river. The camp only has six rooms and each room has its own private splash pool. The wait staff and the. manager were always very friendly and helpful if we needed anything. Before our arrival, we had to let the staff know if we any dietary restrictions. I have a nut allergy and this was made known before our arrival and was discussed as we checked into the camp. I had to refuse and return food on 3 different meals, because the food contained nuts. The manage reminded the kitchen staff again, but I was still brought food that contained nuts. At this camp, the game drivers had to stay in the roadways and could not drive off road to follow any of the animals that were spotted. This was kind of disappointing as far as viewing the animals. On our last game drive we came across an elephant in musk and he was not a happy fella. Instead of being cautious with the approach, the game driver revved up the engine and drove toward him, backed up and did it again, then raced around the elephant. I and another lodge guest were extremely uncomfortable and frightened by this action. Maybe the driver knew what he was doing, maybe he didn't; but I have always heard never drive toward an angry elephant. Hamilton's tented camp has luxurious, private rooms, but the bad out-weighed the good at this camp for me.

We spent a wonderful relaxing 3 nights at Hamiltons. Sited beside a river our vast canvas topped lodge sat on a rasied wooden deck conected to the central lodge by a lengthy raised walkway. The room had every luxury including a private plunge pool, super king-sized bed, roll top bath, walk-in shower, all-inclusive mini bar, separate lounge area and luxury toiletries. Two 3 hour guided safari's in comfortable Land Cruisers were included in the price of a nights stay as was all the food and drink. Our guide found 4 of the big 5 and gave us plenty of opportunities for fantastic photographs. Elephants, Hippo and Impala were regular visitors to the river and 3 lions were also spotted walking through the camp one morning. A wonderful cooked breakfast along with a continental buffet was taken after the early morning game drive. We selected our choices for lunch and dinner after breakfast from the daily changing menu. All meals were taken on the romantically spaced white clothed tables on the open veranda. All the staff under the management of Thomas and Daniel were friendly, attentive and efficient. We enjoyed every moment of a truly unforgettable stay.

My husband and I planned a very last-minute honeymoon trip to South Africa on June 2023 and we found the perfect accommodation at Hamilton's Tented Camp. We arrived at 2 PM at Skukuza airport where we were greeted by an amazing driver named Wisconsin who had snacks, drinks, and a very comfortable SUV that took us on a safe 2-hour drive directly to Hamilton's. Wisconsin was extremely generous and made a few stops along the way as you will be surrounded by the magic of Kruger and the animals upon arrival. At Hamilton's, we were greeted with warm towels and guided directly to our first safari ride at 4 PM while our bags were safely stowed away in our room. The Safari vehicle was filled with blankets as it tends to get chilly when the sun goes down, as well as with water and drinks for the ride. Our guide on the journey and for the remainder of the trip was named Suit Boy who made our trip to Hamiltons that much better. Suit Boy was knowledgeable about every animal we saw, he took us on different roads on every Safari and made us feel extremely safe the entirety of the time. Suit Boy stops halfway on the Safari, both the sunrise and sunset one, and puts out a picnic for you to stretch a bit, take on the African sunrise and sunset, and get back on the road. On our first night at Hamilton's, we had dinner under the stars, the staff was beyond helpful and the food was 10/10. The chef came out and introduced herself during various meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are your choice to make every day from a preset menu the staff will give you. They accommodated everything we needed. The actual bedrooms at Hamiltons were carefully curated as part of the experience of the place. From the touch of an indoor/outdoor shower to the private pool in your villa, and a private outside bar, everything was meticulously placed to give a perfect ambiance. The beds were large, extra clean, and extremely comfortable. The bedrooms are also surrounding the river that runs through the camp and at night you may hear the noises of the animals but rest assured you are completely safe. The staff on both nights were kind enough to walk us to our rooms and were at our disposal for anything we needed. What is also amazing about Hamiltons is that there are only 6 rooms so you will have dedicated attention at all times. It truly was a trip of a lifetime and I would without a doubt stay here again once I visit South Africa in the future. Please do not forget to tip your guides, the staff, and the camp manager as they make everybody's stay a memorable one. Thank you Hamiltons for an unforgettable honeymoon.

I was floored by the beauty of this “camp” (hardly what I remember of camping as a kid) and how friendly the entire staff was. They treated us as honored guests whom they were educating on their part of the world, and I felt as though I was in the company of an experienced team that cared about my safety foremost and that I saw all that Kruger had to offer in the way of lions, giraffes, leopards, various birds and reptiles, all just fascinating and beautiful, It was all like a wonderful dream. And the food was divine - loved that Nick brought coffee on the morning drives! Honestly their chef could work anywhere, everything was delicious. I hope to go back someday!
